I began rock scrambling about a month ago out in dry canyon areas and my normal hiking shoes weren't enough to grip the dusty rocks. My rock scrambling group told me about Five Tens and encouraged me to purchase a pair before I went on any rock scrambling events graded above a class 2. Boy were they ever right about that recommendation! The very first rock scramble I did after receiving these shoes in the mail was join a Class 4 rock scramble event, which is the highest class you can go before you need a rope, and the difference between these shoes and my trail hiking shoes was night and day. It's honestly not even a comparison. I felt like Spiderman the way they gripped the rocks, I was able to run up dusty sandstone slabs with 80-degree inclines without slipping or struggling. These shoes GRIP. Like, really grip. If you are doing any sort of activity that requires gripping power from your footwear, BUY THESE SHOES. These shoes are also comfortable and didn't cause any blisters, even on my first rock scramble. I saw from some of the other reviews that the laces might be "slippery" but I did not have that issue, my laces never once came untied or caught on anything, even when part of my rock scrambles required me to climb/walk directly through thorn bushes, brambles, and cacti in the desert. Overall, these are good shoes. They are well-made and worth the price.

I just have to say the model April wears the shoes well. It is way too funny if you compare this video to the one's for the men's version.

Really small. I had to order one full size larger.

I have had two previous pairs and as they age I covert to mountain biking shoes because of nice stiff sole. This time I went with Scarpas instead, found them just a wee bit more comfortable, but I still think these are great shoes. They dont look quite as good as previous incarnations.

I had a pair of Five Ten Guide Tennie before and loved them. So when I finally wore them out, I first bought the Scarpa approach shoe to replace them (I didn't like the new 5.10 colors). I only wore those for a few months before I decided to go back to and buy the 5.10 Tennie. I'm glad I did because I love them. Stiff sole makes them good for rock scrambling, but these are my everyday/hiking shoe. This newer version has a thicker rubber around the heel - but its not bad. I have heel spurs and when I where these shoes my feet feel great. Its nice to have hiking shoes that don't hurt your feet (or knees or hips or back). These are comfortable and functional. They look great - but I wish they had different colors (like a natural leather look).

These shoes are magic. They grip unbelievably and gave me the confidence I needed to go on an amazing and steep rocky climb. I'm not athletic and I'm afraid of heights but I love Acadia National Park in ME and I was able to climb my first mountain. I feel amazing and I love these shoes!

These are great shoes. They provide awesome traction on all rock surfaces, wet and dry. They are very comfortable, I have worn them on very long days and never had any discomfort. They are also decently breathable, my feet like to breath, and with some good wool socks, these never felt hot or wet. The only issue, all be it minor, is the toes delaminated slightly. I am about to order another pair, only because I wore out the soles from wearing them too much.

I took my guide tennie to a fall hike in Connecticut this weekend (Macedonia State Park and Kent Falls). Since it was new, I tried to break it in and try the sticky rubber on a few out croppings of rocks and boulders. I would have to say, this gave me much more confidence with my footing. I am very, very pleased with them. Not too heavy, and very comfortable. My only tiny complaint is that the shoelaces that come with it are very "slippery" -- meaning as much as you pull on them to make a good fit when you tying your shoes, they slip. At the end of the day, my right shoe just decided to untie itself. I plan to do more serious hikes with these so I changed my shoelaces to the Lock Laces. It gives you more support when cinching it at the top for a more secure fit. It also turns your shoes into slip ons because you don't have to worry about tying them. These are great shoes for scrambling! Just make sure you replace the shoelaces that come with it for a better fit.

Got these shoes to use as approach shoes for climbing. Love them! Perfectly stiff and they look great. Rubber soles stick to everything, I use these to warm up on easy climbs. Also great for mountain biking. Very happy with this sturdy shoe!

I was looking for an alternative to the 5.10 biking shoes, Karver and Impact, as those do not fit me: too wide. This shoes fits my narrow low volume foot well. It is not as stiff for mountain biking as a true biking shoe, but it will work just fine as it has the same sticky sole.

These shoes are a GORGEOUS blue color - wow! They are very stiff soled - more than I would like, but the rubber seems grippy and and they appear well made.

These run about a half-size small in my opinion, BUT if you are honestly going to use these for bouldering, scrambling, some rock climbing, you might want to keep that in mind when you order. These definitely LOOK like climbing "sneakers" and appear like they'd be awesome if you did those activities with some frequency...otherwise you might find the look not for you. They weren't for me.

I usually have a size 9, rarely 9 1/2. I ordered these in size 9 and they are slightly too small at the great toes. On the other hand, they are relatively wide at the heels (width is medium). Returning shoes because they don't fit.

I am going to stick with the brand because they have the best approach shoes

The right shoe fit but the left was too short. I would have had to buy two pairs to make one pair. Not cost effective in my mind since the shoes was nothing special.

I had to send these back. They are oddly designed, the shoe material is very thick and padded, it was like have stiff pillows wrapped around my feet.

I wanted to like this shoe, but I can feel every seam and fold in the lining of the shoe. Disappointing.

I bought these with 3 other pairs, I'll be returning these and keeping the Vasques. I liked the look of the shoe. I have high arches and a narrow foot. My arches felt supported but my heel kept slipping when I walked. The shoe is stiffer than I thought it would be. I was looking for more comfort. If I didn't have the heel slippage issue, I probably would have kept them.

I really wanted to like these shoes. The fit is excellent. The footbed is very comfortable, and didn’t require any pain for break-in. However, they have 2 flaws: the laces untie themselves. With a single knot, they untie in 3 steps. With double knots, they last maybe an hour. Second, the tongue twists to the side, despite the laces having a retaining ‘flap’. It is very annoying, and becomes uncomfortable over time. They are water resistant, but don’t overdue it or you will have blue smurf feet.
