I bought this backpack 5 months ago and I loved it for the many features it had. The many compartments helped me manage my OCD and organised everything perfectly. However, for the price, the quality is not bad but definitely could be better. In just two months I had fabric tears on the part where the straps connect to the main body. In 4 months I had tears on the water bottle mesh and it's beginning to spread. Other than that, it's a great backpack and would recommend buying it.

I have had this backpack for at least 6 years. It is coming apart at the seams of the front compartment and the side compression straps. That being said, I really like the design, the size and the features - there is a place for everything and I can comfortably travel for a weekend or longer with this. It easily fits underneath the airplane seat. I would buy it again.

Son is currently using as school pack. He also hikes so I expect multiple uses. Large and a lot of storage. Lightweight, like trim color. Only concern, interior lining doesn't seem very strong. Looks like it can easily tear. We will see if it holds up. His previous pack was High Sierra, held up on inside, but shoulder strap tore apart.

Received in 2014. I use this everyday to carry work computer, and other work supplies, back and forth to the office. Since I carry a laptop in it I may not abuse it as much as other users. I have not had a zipper or seam fail. I have one seam starting to fray, but it is on the trim - not a structural/functional seam. I use the bottle mesh pouches and zippers every day and it still looks new. This is usually my carry-on bag on flights with no problems. Only issue: The new laptops are very thin and can slip past the padding at the bottom of the computer pocket. Do not stand the pack upright and "drop" the laptop into the pocket. It may miss the padding and impact the tabletop harshly. Also, do not roughly set the pack down on the bottom panel as the laptop may be unprotected. When I got my latest (very thin) laptop I discovered this and added a little padding into the bottom of the pocket and have not had any issues.

Large capacity makes for convenient all-in-one-place materials and document control. However that large capacity allows one to possibly overload, and therefore tax, the strap systems. The strap anchors, especially those at the bottom of the pack, are the first to tear free. Your local alterations shop cannot repair the flexing areas on the straps either.

Good gym and work bag. Only negative is there is no clip for the excess strap that goes across the chest.

Bought this backpack in preparation for college as my old high school bag is getting a little worn out, and I needed something with a laptop compartment. I really like the steel cable running through the top handle, and it seems to be a pretty solid backpack overall. Lots of different places for you to stash your stuff. However, when I put my laptop in its compartment it feels like it takes a notable amount of space from the main cavern, and it might be a little difficult to haul multiple textbooks around in addition. That's not to say the main pocket is small, just something for other students to think about. Also, the zippers are a bit bigger than those of my last bag, and are a little harder to pull/make a bit more noise than my old ones, but I'm just nitpicking at this point, they're perfectly functional otherwise. I've seen others complain about the stitching on some of the seams failing, but none of that has happened to me yet (although I've only had the bag for about a month so far, so I'll keep an eye on it). So far I would for sure recommend it.

Light weight, lots of storage space and comfortable. Perfect for commuting to/from the office on public transportation. I would like to see a bit more padding to protect my laptop, but overall a great commuter pack.

I found a lose thread and I don't know if it's extra that can be cut off or if it's part of the seam. I don't really notice it because it's under the strap.

I am a teacher and as a result I drag a lot of materials back and forth, so I am always looking for the PERFECT bag. I also take frequent weekend trips to the city and travel very light. I need a bag allows me to carry a weekends worth of clothing along with my computer and gadgets. This one, until about a week ago, was it. That its when the zipper above the front mesh pouch started getting caught on a loose thread. I have had it for less than 9 months. I thought I caught it in time, protecting the bag and the zipper, but then the seem started to really unravel and as that is a pouch that I use often, it gets constantly caught on loose threads. Needless to say I am in another bag, but am waiting to hopefully find another High Sierra product that works for me.

Have 5 and this exact back pack but this one is a cheep version of the unit it replaced zipper removed for Velcro. Key hooks removed. Unreal pads for computer top pocket missing pocket cover. In short of you have a older version you will be very disappointed from a new person will be happy. Just wished they kept the old version and charged more I would have spent more money for the older version instead of this cheep verst

I've purchased five of these in five years. Its got several compartments that make it easy to stay organized, and its a snap to go thru TSA with this bag..... all over the world.... no problems. There's a tendency to use ALL of the available space, which mean you can overload it fairly easily.. and over the course of just a few months, the straps start to fray, and the "durable" material starts to tear. Why do I continue to buy these? because I cannot find anything else in it's class. I've got a love/hate relationship with this product. Too bad they cannot make the thing just alittle more rugged... they'd have a winner!

The bag online looks like it has orange accents but in fact the accents are red. The bad also seems a bit bulky. Overall I am happy with the purchase and would buy it again. It seems like there is room for a lot of stuff. I bought the bad because it slides on to a suitcase handle which was my primary reason for purchasing the backpack.

The mercury crimson bag appears to have orange accents when you look it online but the accents are actually red.
