These Johnston & Murphy double monk straps look awesome and the Mahogany color is really nice looking. True to size and width. I wear a size 11 According to the Brannock decide. With that said the heels wore out very quickly. I work from my home office and so it’s not like I’m putting a lot of mileage on these shoes...i.e waking to the bus stop or walking to the subway or ferry and walking around the city. With that said I use them to walk around my neighborhood when walking by dog or to take a break from work. The heels are already worn down several layers and will probably have to get them re-soled in the next couple of months. They’re only 7 months old.

The shoe looks and feels great, but the monk straps wear out ridiculously quickly. Made the shoes completely useless after only 6 months.

These shoes feel so good. I had the brown pair and when I was looking for a black pair I was glad they had these in stock. I ordered them on a Friday evening and by Monday evening I was trying them on and the best thing is that I paid 1/2 the price at Zappos vs. A local clothing store.

Word of warning I found these shoes to run very large in the length. Required a full size less than I normally would wear in athletic sneakers.

I got these for my boyfriend and we are both happy with them. They look really good. The quality is there and the leather is nice. The monk strap is super stylish and fashionable, but also a timeless look. Definitely recommend these dress shoes!

Looks Great! Feels Great!

This shoe looks great. The leather quality and the soles are very good . This was the first pair of shoes I've owned with a Monk Strap so getting in and out of them was a little different in the beginning and I would suggest always using a shoe horn. They felt a little tight after the first wear but within hours they began to soften up. Just need to see how they hold up over time.

These are great looking shoes. They might need some taps to make them last longer. The color is true to the picture and they are comfortable right out of the box. My husband usually wears a size 11 and they are true to size. Great looking and can be dressed up or down.

Impressed with the quality considering its hit or miss with J&M sometimes. Very comfortable. Size might be slightly larger as I ended up keeping the 1/2 size down that I typically order.

My husband owns these same J&M Conard shoes in Brown, and loves them. He is very excited to now have them in Black, as well! The double monkstrap is very stylish, and these are comfortable shoes. Very elegant, very classy and very stylish-you will not be disappointed with these shoes!

After ordering and returning several monk strap shoes, I had low expectations for the Conard Double Monk but I knew it was the perfect shoe for me the moment I opened the box. The tan heel looks great with the brown heel and was a huge selling point for me (I dislike black soles on brown shoes). The construction is durable and the straps provide enough customization to ensure a secure fit. I wish the straps themselves were a little bit thicker. I worry that long-term use of the buckle will wear down the leather (like every old belt I own) but time will tell. Great color. Great construction. Very comfortable. I'm wearing them in my wedding.

Great looking and feeling shoe. True to size, but you're gonna need a good shoe spoon to get into these without crushing the back of the shoe. Completely worth the effort. They look great with dark jeans, dress pants, and less formal suits. Glad I tried these.

Nice looking shoe. Very uncomfortable to wear without socks, though. If you're on a budget, like me, these are a great way to get your Monk Strap on!

The 3 star rating is indicative of Zappos' quality control, not the shoe itself. I ordered my normal size (10.5) but had to return for a size 10 because these run big. The 10.5 shoes was in good shape, no issues. The size 10 shoe, on the other hand, had scratches on both shoes and marks on both heels. It seemed like someone wore these a few times and returned them, and Zappos sent me the return. Very disappointed.

not a bad shoe for the money, but not up to the quality of an Allen Edmonds, Mephisto, etc. but then, different price point. leather of lesser grade (up and lower); some pucker. a 2-3 season shoe

Love the look of the shoes. They feel solid and well made. The big concern I have is that the heel is solid rubber and is painted to look like a wooden heel. I wore the shoes for 2 days and already have scuffs on the heal. I guess I will have to talk to a cobbler to see what I can do to keep them looking good. A return might be coming.
