These shoes are very true to size. Comfort level is high as with previous Birkenstocks purchased prior. I would absolutely recommend these shoes!

I have been content for YEARS wearing my Birkenstock sandals during the summertime, and switching to Danskos In the winter. Then...somehow...I turned 60, and my poor Fred Flinstone-ish feet got tired of dragging the weight of my Danskos around. So, after several months in tennis shoes, while searching for the perfect winter shoe, TA-DA!!! I discovered the Londons. AMAZING!!! These wide, arthritic tootsies of my are back in familiar turf, and HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY! I wear the same size in shoes as with the sandals. LOL, the occasional little fart-noise will soon disappear, once the shoes are fully broken in. Besides, it’s winter...sock season!!! Overall, another fabulous experience with Zappos and Birkenstock. These London's fit exactly like the Boston clog and Arizona sandals, just different having a back up around the heel. The Hunter black leather is very nice looking, not shiny and no doubt will dull up even more with wear. All together a beautiful shoe if you already appreciate the Birkenstock style.

I love Birks, since I bought my first pair years ago these have been the most comfortable brand of shoes I've ever worn. I can't wear the ballet flats anymore since I've encountered such comfort. My feet rarely hurt when I wear them. I wear a 36 in the sandals, but I opted to go a size up with these, just to fit thick socks for late fall & dry days in the winter. I normally wear a size 7-7.5 in most other shoes. Mind you, these are not the most stylish (my mother made a joke about them being orthopedic nun shoes). Being in my late 20s, & living in a smallish mountain town, I really don't mind in the least bit (I'm more artsy & into comfort, rather than a stylish patagucci lover). Save you feet, especially if you're on your feet all day like I am, buy these!

Regular sized Birkenstocks are sort of wide, so when their narrow was the only shoe available in my size, I went ahead and bought them thinking they would still work for me. Not so. I have a pretty narrow food, but the narrow Birkenstocks were SUPER narrow, at least in this style with the closed heel. I returned them and bought the same size in regular width and am beyond happy with them. The $10 extra for the soft footbed is totally worth it if the regular firmness of Birks is a little much for you. My loyalty to Birkenstock continues. :-)

Been a Chef for 18 Years I have to replace my Londons about once a year.. I have wandered to other online stores for these in the past..ONCE and only once.. What a huge mistake. You pay immediately and they take their sweet time to get them out. 7 days most often too me. I simply cant say enough about Zappos. Outstanding. Customer Service. Return Policy. BEST ON THE INTERNET. I am a Zappos Customer for life.

My first pair of Birkenstocks. I've heard they can be uncomfortable when breaking them in, but the soft footbed seems to have alleviated that problem as these were comfortable right out of the box.

I had a very similar experience to the other reviewers. This is a very hard to fit shoe. All the more reason to buy on Zappos for the free shipping/returns. Professionally measured my foot is 7.5 EEEE (women's). I have the traditional Birkenstock foot - very wide toes and a high arch. I tried my traditional Birkenstock size, 39 regular, and one up, 40 regular. In sandals a 39 regular is just shy of perfect in a feminine style (Gizeh) with my foot pushing out a bit and perfect in a traditional unisex style (Arizona). The limiting factor is a point across the top of the foot just down from your little toe (the toe itself isn't squished). The 39 was painfully tight. The 40 was tight but I had so much room up by my toes that I didn't want to size up again. I kept the 40 and have been trying to stretch it with thick socks and time. It was only uncomfortable the first day (and then just at that point just down a bit from my little toe). Since then it's just a bit tighter than I usually wear my shoes. I had a lot of play in the back of these shoes at both sizes. How it fits in back doesn't seem to matter at all. The 40 has a lot of movement but hasn't been uncomfortable at all and stays on my foot well.

These shoes were extremely tight on my feet. I need to wear them with socks, and could hardly get them on. I usually wear a size 38 Regular width. These seemed as if they were a 37. I have very wide feet, and need to have my shoes with a lot of extra room. These need to be ordered in a full size larger than your normal size. Back they went.

This is a fine shoe but my husband's feet are very difficult to fit. He's in-between the size 42 and 43 and has other foot issues, so unfortunately these don't work for him.

I wear Birks because of the wider toe box and the foot bed support. Both very good in this pair. I really like the quality of leather and the finish on the Londons. I have a med width foot, except in the toe area, and the Birks fit my foot first time on. I use them for work, and they give me some style and protect my feet well, while doing medium duty construction. I have looked for construction shoes and found none that fit my foot well. Although the Birks do not have a hard toe, they protect my feet from all but a direct hit to the toes.

These are very comfortable and have quite a bit of arch support if that is what you're looking for. The are called "soft footbed," and while it has been a long time since I've worn Birkenstocks, I couldn't tell a difference between these and the regular footbed. They're definitely nor cushiony or anything. They're cuter on the foot than off.

It's a great pair of shoes to bring the comfort you need all day on your feet

I love my Birkenstock sandals so I wanted to get the shoes. I read the reviews which said get a size bigger but that was a mistake. I had to exchange them. I wear the same size as the sandals. I had surgery on my right foot a year ago so finding comfortable shoes is challenging. These are great, roomy - there is no pressure on the top off my feet. My feet are happy all day even after being on my feet for 3 or more hours. I can’t say the same for other shoes I’ve tried.

I've worn these for 3 months now. I'm on my feet a fair amount at work and these keep them happy and minimize issues with my recovery from plantar fasciitis. I just wish this style (with soft footbed, narrow) came in a dark red or blue, too!

Out of the box loved them. Have been having foot problems for a while now--I have had no issues since starting to wear my London soft footbed shoe! No break-in time needed. They are clunky looking but the look grows on you!

Great Birkenstock shoe. Had the Milano birkenstock sandals, which i love and wear all day. Then need a closed in shoe for the winter. Ordered London soft footbed and love these as well. Does not take long to break them in. Become comfortable within 1-2 weeks. Thank you Zappos for your great support and service with Birkenstocks.

After an extensive search for closed toe shoes this winter - I decided to try the Bostons -(I wear a 40N in the Mayari and absolutely love those - also just received the Boston Shearling for house shoes). I tried the 40N in Boston - whoa! Really wide and large! My foot sloshed around - I tried the 39N - Oh so much better in width - but right at the end on the toes. I decided to try the Birkenstock London Soft Footbed 40N- (apprehensive thinking they would look too masculine). I am a 60 year old grandma and school teacher - I love the London! I wear it with maxi skirts and even my skinny jeans! Go figure! I started wearing with socks in January - I am wearing them today barefoot and love the wiggle room that make my toes smile! I can wear these all day and all evening and still be so happy at the end of the night. You do have some wiggle room - but that is part of the beauty of the Birkenstock - especially for those of us with narrow feet.
