These are by far my favorite pair of boots I've ever owned, hands down. However, I can echo some of the sentiments touched upon by the previous reviewer; how you wear them will greatly impact your experience. As the previous reviewer stated, wearing these without socks is not recommended. The shearling inside the boot does offer significant warmth, but it won't offer much in supporting your feet. As your feet warm up, the shearling will give a little and compress, allowing your feet to move around a bit inside the boot. If you don't have socks on, it can quickly cause the back of your heel to chafe. Wearing socks however completely changes the experience of this boot. I never intended to wear these without socks, so for my personal use, they've been exceptional. They are extremely warm, the shearling is unlike any I've ever felt before. The leather ages beautifully, it's soft yet extremely durable. The sole has enough give while still being almost indestructible. However, the first few weeks might put a few people off. Sometimes they can feel too loose, other times they feel too tight. This is a boot that needs time to adjust and mold to your feet. Initially I wasn't sure how I felt about these boots, but after some time, these are amazing. I'm between a 9.5-10, and Frye recommends going with the larger of the size if you're between sizes. You foot is also supposed to have a little play inside the boot. I went with a 10 and it now fits perfectly. Again, the first few weeks this boot will throw you, being too big and too small and everything in between. But pair these with some merino wool socks and a little break-in time, and you'll be very happy.
