Zappos delivered the shoes quickly and in excellent condition. This review criticizes the shoes themselves, not Zappos, with whom I'm well pleased. Those of us old enough to remember the original Wallabees (which Clark's modelled after the superb "Sioux", a moccasin shoe produced by a long-gone American manufacturer) will be disappointed by the current production. Clark's first Wallabees were made in Ireland, with thick, resilient, plantation crepe-rubber soles, uppers lined with glove leather, and careful, regular stitching -- all for something like fourteen dollars a pair. Since then, production has gone first to Portugal (still of reasonable quality), then to mainland China (tolerable), and now to Vietnam (extremely poor workmanship). The price has risen ten-fold, roughly in line with the depreciation of the American dollar, while the quality of construction has dropped. The shoes no longer are lined, the hard synthetic soles only vaguely resemble the original natural ones, and sloppy assembly results in unpredictable sizing. The comfortably curved toes now are more angular: both uglier and constrictive. And I could go on. The essence is this: even at Zappos's nicely discounted price, the shoes aren't worth the purchase. Save for a good pair of Alden's instead (with care, they'll last decades, not just a couple of years, and feel comfortable and supportive the entire time), or simply pay even less for cheaper sneakers -- they couldn't be less supportive or look worse than the Wallabees of today.
I'd also recommend:
Alden.

I love the Clarks Wallabee I have been wearing those shoes since 1984. I got my 1st pair in the 4th grade and been wearing them ever since. The best shoe in the world!

It’s very sleek and stylish. The fit is good, however point to note buy a half size smaller because they will eventually stretch. Overall great shoe

These are extremely comfortable shoes. You can be on your feet all day without any pain. The more you wear them the more they mold to the shape of your foot. Make sure you spray them with Scotchgard to protect the suede from oil and water stains.

I'm 68 and my feet started to hurt, the bottoms and outsides so I tried wearing high end New Balance thick soled spongy runners but didn't help then I remembered CLARKE WALLABIES from 40 years ago how back then they were revolutionary shaped like your foot and soft buttery thick durable suede with that thick spongy but firm crepe sole! My feet no longer hurt and I realized that the exaggerated arch of the running shoes were hurting my feet while the Clarke has a very gentle mild natural arch. I like the sporty preppy look too. I love them so much I bought a black suede high top in black for the winter and now the low sand suede for summer, as the other reviews mention along time ago they were imported from Ireland but they were heavier and the chinese manufacturers ones have vastly improved on making them lighter and truer to size price wise the shoe stores want over $200 so ZAPPOS bargain price I paid of $120 with the free shipping was a wonderful bargain and as always with ZAPPOS I received them in 3 days

(Also see the 100+ reviews on a different set of colors). I received my first pair in the mid-1970s, Clarks Wallabees were quite popular, especially with the preppy crowd. They were made in Ireland back then. They eventually switched to China, and I think some of the early quality control problems with these made-in-China Wallabees have been solved, as the quality seems just fine to me. However, it's been far too long since I had a pair of the Irish ones to really say. Reading the reviews and the internet, people have strong opinions about China vs. Irish Wallabees. Also, the opinions on the sizing seem all over the place...many say that they run big, but I find them true-to-size. If ordering for the first time, order your usual size. Padmore & Barnes (Google them) have started making Wallabees again (obviously that can't call them Wallabees, Clarks owns the name) but from what I can tell they have no USA distribution. With shipping they are an expensive proposition, and I find these China-made Clarks Wallabees pretty nice. But one day I might spring for a pair of the Padmore & Barnes. In the meantime, don't shy away from getting the Clarks. A classic shoe in every respect! I'm only giving three stars for Style--as much as I love Wallabees, I can't really call them stylish.

I wore these back in the 70’s then completely forgot about them. They bring me back so I really love them. Wanted the Creme color, ordered them and they were almost green so sent them back and got the black ones. Also buying and/or returning with Zappos is a pleasure.

Wore these as school uniform when I was 12. Now back on my feet after 40 yrs. luv them. Didn't give 5 stars confort bc the spongy sole takes a little getting used to. Color is killa and wife luvs it. It's my staple daytime summer dress shoe. Secondly, saved $40 over clarks store and they were out of my size. Z came thru again

I've owned quite of few pairs of Clarks but the lowtop Wallabee is such a classic. I prefer the leather versions over the suede because there is a lack of lateral support which is exacerbated by the soft material of suede. If you've never owned a pair, they fit a full size larger for me. I wear an 11 in nike tennis shoes and most other boots, a 10.5 in adidas, and a 10 in Clarks. Leather is nice, sole is spongey and comfortable, insole is quality leather with some support. The soles will wear quickly on rough asphalt/concrete.

Wallabees are a throwback to college days, more than 40 years ago. They're still straightforward comfortable, sturdy shoes with real leather that conforms well as you wear them. The crepe/gum sole is uniquely comfortable, with lots of shock-absorbing ability. I would actually prefer the brown and black in suede - Looks like they don't offer them for men's sizes.

I have bought Zappos shoes many time. A great Company to deal with. The quality of the shoes (and Service) have always been top drawer.I recommend their products. If its hard to find look to Zappos for your buy! No other On-line Company can compete with the quality and pricing.

I have been wearing Clark's original Wallabies for about 40 years now. They are very comfortable and the gum sole absorbs impact and give a bit of bounce to your step.

I usually wear size 11 shoes and had to go with a size 10. Otherwise, these look good and seem very comfortable. Zappos was most excellent with the exchange, too!

Overall I'm happy with my new shoes. I feel they are a tad on the pricey side, but if they hold up, I will purchase them again. I typically wear a size 12 but knew these tend to run a little large. I ordered an 11.5 and they fit perfectly fine.
