We needed black, patent leather Mary Jane shoes to go with my six year old daughter's uniforms. These shoes were perfect. They looked great and were super for running, jumping, and hop scotching. However, after about four months the loop part of the hook and loop tape which holds the strap to the shoes just stopped working. We tried combing the loops to make sure there was debris in the way, but to no avail. We even ordered a second pair of shoes in the exact same style because we loved them so much. But, again, about four months into wearing, the shoes the hook-and-loop stopped working. It is not that the hook-and-loop tape peeled off the strap, it just stopped working efficiently and the shoes would just slide off because the strap was not connected to the shoes.

These fit my daughter well - her feet are long and narrow so nothing seems to fit her correctly and, in general, dress shoes seem to bother her within a few hours. She has lasted in these without any complaints for a couple of occasions which were hours long.

The shoes arrived in excellent condition and fit my daughter perfectly. She needed a pair of Mary Janes for school that looked more mature for her age group, and these fit the bill. She tried them on and said they were comfortable.

These shoes are a good true to size comfortable fit. They are perfect for play and dress. My little girl is very girly in dress, but plays like the best of them. These shoes are the go-to pair for what ever we get ourselves into. Buy these shoes!

Beautiful shoes that look like they will last with a nice patent leather. Run small.

We continue to buy these shoes each year. They are well made and wear well. They get scuffed but not too bad -- my daughter is moderately hard on her shoes. If your child has a narrow heel and cannot wear those slip-on styles, these are wonderful shoes! They look precious in gold.

My daughter is 8, and the mary janes we've always worn (Pediped and Primigi) were just a little to "young" for her taste now. I need a good, comfortable daily shoe that will go with everything. Right out of the box, she loved these, and the style was right for her! I may get the Pink. I'm a fan of the real leather.

My daughter tried 5 pairs of shoes before she agreed that the Umi Ria II was a keeper. This shoe is more delicate than many Mary Janes and fits better than slip ons so it worked quite well for her concerts.

Overall, fits well. The heel of the shoes comes up a little high on my daughters ankle and made a couple sore spots but after breaking them in they seem to be fine.

My daughter loved these on sight, but they were narrow in the toe box for her. See Kai Run fits her better.

My daughter has worn Umi Kids Ria now for a couple years. They hold up pretty well - we continue to order the next size up when necessary. We do, however, need to repair the velcro after 2-3 months of wear. Right now we average one pair each semester, and toward the end of each semester we need to take them to the shoe repair shop. I wish Umi would use better velcro - it loses its stick every time.

These are a good pair of shoes. My daughter wears them with her school uniform five days a week, so they get a lot of wear and tear. Unlike other patent leather shoes, when they get scratched (and playing out on the playground they do get scratched) they do not peel or crack. A wet towel seems to do the job for getting off most of the mud or other gunk that gets on the shoes from daily wear. We have never had a blister or complaints of the shoes being uncomfortable. The only reason I didn't give the shoes "five stars" is that we've had the shoes since September and now it is mid-November and they are starting to look a little worn. I had hoped we could at least get through Winter Break before we had to buy another pair. But other than that, these have been a really good pair of shoes.

I love the Umi brand for my daughter and these are cute, well-made shoes. However, these didn't make the cut for us - she is currently wearing a size 5 in two other Umi styles (a sandal and a sneaker), but the 5.5 in this style was too small. I think that Umi shoes tend to run narrow in general, but these were also narrower than expected.

We purchased the black leather version of these this past winter for my 5 yo daughter's school uniform. They held up remarkably well, so we purchased the patent leather version for this fall. I'll update the post if it doesn't go well!

Almost perfect, but the outside edges are too high and rub the ankles. So sad to return these as everything else felt great.

These shoes are very stylish and were comfortable for my 6 year old except that there is no padding around the top of the heel portion and they caused raw spots just under her ankles. The stitching also came undone on part of the shoe within the first day or two of wearing them. I restitched the portion that came apart myself. I also stretched the heels a bit, and that helped somewhat, but a few weeks later and my daughter now cannot wear them since they rub her raw by the ankle once again. I will not be buying Umi shoes again and I will also be purchasing shoes with a padded heel upper.

Nice plain shoe for everyday school wear however, I have to return because it was too wide for my daughter's narrow ankles and there was little support.

These shoes are very good looking, but hurt my daughter under the ankle from the beginning. I stretched them out a bit in the heel and she wore them for a short time, but they still hurt her and left hot spots. The stitching also came apart on the 2nd day she wore them. So I have stitched and stretched these shoes and they still don't feel comfortable, and I feel like we wasted the money since she will not wear them.
