Wow. I'm getting more aggressive in my morning hikes so wanted something more than my wonderful Brooks shoes as I headed cross country. I've worn Keen shoes for years and love the boxy wide toe area so started checking out the mid height Keen boots. I saw these were waterproof and it looked nice and wide to fit my foot. Usually I purchase size 10 but in this boot a 10 1/2 gave me the fit I was looking for. I would classify these as fairly wide which I wanted and like. Just saying. If you want narrower boots, the Targhee were quite a bit narrower. I tried those and had to return them because of the width. I have worn these every day since they arrived. No break in. Just lace up and go. I really love these boots. And when I saw "American Built" on the tag at the front of the lacing area, well, my heart swooned! So glad I got these.

I am truly in love with these boots. The quality is above any other, the fit is a little wide in the toe, which allows me to wear wool socks with plenty of room, the support for my ankles makes hiking a breeze, and the style is cute enough that I wear them with almost anything.

Another awesome boot. Light, cute, waterproof and comfortable. Required 1/2 size up from normal as with all my Keens. Mine are made in the USA.

I purchased these boots for day hikes and I really liked them. They are nice quality boots. They have very roomy toe boxes for extra thick socks. They did not require any break in time at all. They are a little heavier than the Keen Voyageurs. I also have the low version and oddly enough the low is heavier than the mid.

These are nice boots if you can get them to fit. I normally wear a 9½ medium, but usually get 10 hiking boots so there is room for my Superfeet green insoles and heavy Smartwool socks. The size 10 was too short but the width was good. I exchanged them for 10½ which is long enough but too wide. I am still struggling to get the right combination of socks and inserts to stabilize my feet. If your feet are wider, they may be perfect, otherwise, you may not be happy with the way these fit.

I needed a waterproof and, ideally, warm boot for a trip to Iceland involving hiking behind waterfalls. I chose this boot because it was listed as being wider than other Keen boots and I tend to need wider footwear. With the trip looming, I had no time to break them in before I had to wear them for long periods of time. I was a bit apprehensive about possibly getting blisters or cold feet, since the Durand is not Keen's insulated version. But these boots were perfect: I spent seven days wearing them all day every day and got not one blister, not one raw spot, not one bit of damp sock nor even a cold toe - in Iceland in April!!! (Now, I will say I was wearing wool socks.) Not once did my feet or legs ache, either. And the boots look just as they did when I bought them. They have tromped through water, mud, and ice and shed all of them - they are still ruggedly intact and even clean after the beating I gave them. I have since worn them on a rainy day here in warm, humid coastal NC and my feet did not overheat, either. I will absolutely buy these boots again if this pair ever does wear out.

Just got my first pair of Keen's and ordered 1/2 size up as directed only to find they are still too small. I normally wear an 8 but will need a 9. Will comment further once I give them a tryout.

Tried lots of options, again Keen was the winner. Wider toe box and narrow heel. Great stability and support for the avid hiker. More heavy duty than past hikers... they will probably last longer.

These are the best pair of hiking boots I have ever worn! I love the substantial treads, excellent ankle support and quick-lacing styling. They are not super-heavy but they are still new-looking despite using them nearly daily to walk my dog in inclement weather and to hike in Acadia National Park, Clifty Falls State Park, Potato Creek State Park and to and from work on snowy days. I appreciated that these are assembled in the USA; hopefully Keen will bring all parts of the manufacturing process to the US.

I have to be honest and say that I love the boots, they look awesome in that color... Since minute one after sliding your foot on you know there is no need of breaking period! right then you can bed it (like your old shoes)and all that. Support is excellent, you name it and you have that support. Like other reviews said, and even the ad (here)they run half size smaller. I am a 8.5 I ordered 9,great. Now, I am still thinking about keeping them or sending them back just because they look a bit bulky for me. Yes, is the worst feeling because I am in cloud nine, thinking finally the boots I need for my next backpacking trip for 35 days. I've tried some already and by far this are the most comfortable, without sacrificing any needed aspect for a backpacking boots. Oh, light weight also. Again, as I write I am so sad about the (TINY) bulky factor...

Leave it to Keen.. These hikers are a home run. Wide toe box gives my tootsies room to wiggle & the straight down heel provides a firm foundation. No ankle turner here. I generally wear a size 10, but wanted "room" to relax my toes & wear heavier socks so I went with an 11. So glad I did as they are perfect. I've been looking to replace a pair of 20+ year old Solomon hikers, nothing ever came close until I slipped my foot into these Durand Keens. The bar has been raised.

LOVE them. I love Keens and when I needed new Hiking boots I made a switch from the Targhee II to the Durand Mid and I LOVE them. Comfortable and durable in Keen's tradition.

First off, I love shopping Zappos because I can search for country of origin. I was thrilled to find these American-made hiking boots. This is my first pair of Keen boots after being a Mephisto fan for years (sadly, they stopped making their boots in Germany many years ago and started out-sourcing to who-knows-what kind of labor climate). These Keens have a nice, grippy sole, which should serve me well on hiking trails. The toe area is roomy enough for a thick pair of socks and the overall construction seems sound. I love that Keen offers half sizes after size 10 (I float between a 10 and an 11 but am frustrated that many manufacturers skip from 10 to 11). The 11's happened to fit me best this time, but I wasn't "slopping" around in the shoe as happens frequently with 11's for me. Time will tell how well they will wear but as for fit and first impressions, I'm pleased.

These are the most comfortable hiking boots I have ever owned! I am usually not a fan of the mid because they are bulky and heavy. Not the case with these. They are light weight andwonderful to hike in. The only negative about this shoe was that the tongue was thicker than normal and it took a little while to break in. With a short break in period for the tongue issue, the boots are very comfortable!I have very short toes, so I did not need to size up. The toe box is roomy and the length for me was perfect.

I absolutely love these boots! I bought 1/2 size larger than my normal. I can wear thick hiking socks and still have plenty of room for my toes. Did not require any breaking in and were comfortable on first hike of 11 miles on a rugged trail. This is my second pair of Keen hiking boots. I wore the heck out of my first pair before finally purchasing these.

Great fitting boot. I usually wear a 10 but went up 1/2 size to wear a heavier sock. My go to sizes in other brands are: Birkenstock 40 reg, Dansko clogs 41, Keen Presidio 10 M.

Bought these for a recent camping trip, they worked out great! I did have to go up half a size so my toes wouldn't hit the front. They are a bit ridged and bulky, but I may just need to get used to the size and over time they will break in. Love the colors and style. Great ankle support, didn't feel wobbly in them at all.

First off, I love Keen boots and this is my third pair. However, this boot is stiff on my shins and they hurt. I don't know if it's because they are a new and need to be broken in, but I didn't have this problem with my other Keens. I'll keep wearing them and hope they break in a little better.

Absolutely love the look and feel of this boot. The foot bottom is incredibly cushy (lost of shock absorption) ... even more than I expected. But while I consider myself to have average size width, this boot felt rather wide to me. Some people may appreciate the roominess of the front of the boot but it just didn't feel right to me. Still, I would recommend this boot -- just wish it was cut a little narrower.

These boots look great and feel well-constructed/sturdy. The boots felt roomy enough for my wide feet and socks (I ordered a half size up as suggested), but unfortunately the boots were too high and rubbed on my ankles uncomfortably. You can see in the photos that they are lower in the back and that's good, but I still think I'm going to return them. Other Mid's I've gotten from Keen didn't rub like these.

Have only worn these for a few weeks, I feel confident walking in rain, muddy situations with these shoes. They are easy to clean. I purchased 1/2 size up for thick warm socks, but with regular socks they are a little clumsy. All in all I like them, just hope the shoe laces can handle the vigorous lacing up for a secure fit!

I wear a size 10 in regular shoes, a 10.5 in sneakers and an 11 in hiking shoes. An 11 in these were a smudge too small and WAY too wide. I wear narrow shoes and Zappos indicated these ran narrow. Nope!

I ordered the 1/2 size up only to find I still needed to go up another 1/2 size. After trying these for two days I found that the seem in the heal dug into my ankle too much for comfort and I must return them.

Plus side: Wider toe box was nice; Waterproof held up great; Comfort was comparable to other boots. Issues: Runs almost a full size too small; A grommet broke as I was lacing up in the middle of a backpack trip - Keen credited me for the defect with no hassle.
