I originally bought these for my daughter who is headed to Massachusetts for college next year and is in need of cute waterproof high boots. My daughter is a a D1 athlete so is in no way overweight, however she could barely zip these over her 15" calfs - and they certainly would not fit with jeans. However her not so athletic mom with barely 13" calves loved them. I have bad feet (rheumatoid arthritis, neuromas, plantar fasciitis, etc.) and these fit like a dream with incredible arch support. I am a 6½ in shoes, 7 in boots and the 7 fit me perfectly with awesome arch support - and I my legs do not look like tooth picks in these boots for a change! So while these are awesome boots with those of us with skinny legs, they do not work in anyway for anyone that has anything over a 14" calfs. Her lose, my gain!

These boots definitely run narrow and have a small circumference as well, so be aware of that when ordering. They are perfect for my narrow feet and the shaft height makes them a bit dressier for skirts and dresses. I have difficulty finding boots that fit my narrow heels, so while I can see that these might not fit everyone, they are absolutely perfect for me!

I'm always squeezing into a 10, but these 10.5 fit perfectly - with or without thick socks. They are truly comfortable from toe to calf (after three days walking in NYC), waterproof and got a lot of compliments. Love these!

I love these boots! Very comfortable! They look stylish! I get a lot of compliments. This is my second pair of Merrell boots. Happy!! I find Merrell's are my go-to brand! I tried on dozens of boots but found these work the best for me. I've worn them all day long and no problems.

The boots are great, my feet aren't. No reflection on the boot. I have arthritis that makes it very difficult to find shoes.

Comfortable from day one, great looking and great style. My 2nd pair of Merrell boots and I love the versatility of wearability and weatherproof features. Love Merrell boots and shoes! I will say that I have average-to-slim calves and they are formfitting. I know they will stretch a bit, but if you have large calves, these are probably not for you.

I normally love Merrell boots and shoes. I have ankle boots that I love and I thought I would try a tall boot but I am so disappointed that I can't zip up the boot.

These boots are super comfy and very stylish for waterproof boots. They ran true to size for me -- I ordered the size I always wear. I have a narrow heel but a slightly wide foot. They were not too narrow and my heel doesn't slip at all. I have average size calves and I can wear these either with tights or with skinny jeans.

I previously had the version of this boot that is slightly shorter with buttons up the side. When I bought a second pair after wearing out the first pair,all the buttons fell off within a week. This version doesn't have the button problem and they are as comfortable as the last pair, which I wore nonstop during the winter months over several years. They are the kind of boots you live in! They're very casual but extremely comfortable and the best for walking through anything and walking long distances. This boot comes up quite high, and are just a little tight over jeans on my medium calves. Not sure if they would work on wider calves.

These felt good right out of the box. I have thinner ankles and calves and they confirm nicely to my legs. If you have fuller calves then these may not be for you. I can walk in them comfortably in NYC and still feel stylish at the same time. The espresso color goes with almost any color denim. I'm usually an 8 and these seem true to size for me. (If you have wider feet they might be snug.) They are keepers!

They are really cute but they rub right around the ankle. Perhaps I need a larger size. They are tight around the calf, which I like. I also like that they are tall in length. I will get a larger size to see if they will work.

I love these boots! They are so comfortable that I wore them around the house for a few days before wearing them outside. They are super stylish. I found that they are not as warm as I had thought, though. My toes got cold when I was standing in line, waiting for doors to a concert to open. Arch support isn't as good as I would like. Overall, though, I'm extremely pleased and would buy them again.

These might be my favorite boots of all-time. The leather is matte, and feels thick and soft; looks high-quality. They are a great dark brown that goes well with black. And they have a super-comfy foot bed. Awesome!

I like these boots a lot. every Merrell I have is a great shoe, however. The boots are very roomy inside and do not hurt my feet! I think they will look great for a long time due to the water proof leather.

I love these boots. Nice looking. Great arch support and very soft and quiet to walk in. They fit perfectly. I'm 5'4" 122 lbs. and had no trouble zipping them up even over my widest jeans. I only wish they had a bit more traction for snowy days but I tried scooting around in the snow (our first this season) and think they'll be OK.

Love this boot - style was exactly what I was looking for - however, I concur with other reviewers in the narrowness of fit in the calf area. Just too tight and I haven't ever worn wide-calf boots. My search continues.

Like everyone else, I love these boots. Comfortable, stylish, versatile. I'm taking them to Paris in November, and feel that no matter the weather my feet will be comfortable. These are the winners! I so love Zappos, the only way to buy shoes!

These are very comfortable boots as are all Merrell shoes. We will be traveling to Europe soon, so I am very happy they are waterproof. I stick with Merrell shoes. I love them!

These boot's are beautiful,comfortable and stylish. I was looking for a waterproof leather boot for Wi.winter's, ordered other pair's from a different seller,ended up sending both pair back. Merrill boot's are a little pricey, I have another pair of Merrill's, I love them and I do these, they are worth the money. I have a narrow ankle and with sock's my ankle does not slip, if you have wide feet these may be a bit snug, however keep in mind that the leather will give a little. Have gotten many complament's on these boot's. I highly recommend them.

Love this boot! Have been trying for years to replace a beloved pair of Merrell's that I wore completely out, and finally found it here. The boot is a bit higher than some (closer to the knee than mid-calf) but the stlying and construction are great.

I love these boots! They run true to size and are so comfortable right out of the box with zero breaking in. They are also stylish along with being functional. I love the height and the way they perfectly hug my calves. I am tall and normally wear a size ten. Over the past week or so I have purchased and returned one pair of Borns (too big and wide) and two pair of Fryes (one pair too big and one pair too small) before hitting the jackpot with these Merrells. Thank you for your patience and astounding customer service, Zappos! I love you even more than I love shoes!

Excellent material combined with superior comfort and Zappos ability to reorder sizes make a great boot for my winter wardrobe. I originally ordered a size 9 because I have recently had surgery on both feet for reconstruction. I then ordered a size 8 1/2 and then a size 8 which fit perfectly. It has plenty of length and toe box to accommodate my surgery recovery. Very stylish for dresses and skirts while still accommodating for jeans tucked in.

These are the most comfortable boots I have ever had. I bought them partly because the insoles can be swapped with my own, but the insoles they came with are quite comfortable. These boots almost feel like bedroom slippers. They are not as trim as some other boots, especially with my 9.5 feet, but they are still quite stylish.

The boot is really pretty, and the foot size is perfect. However, for my calf size, the top circumference is too big. It is around 16, and 14 would do the trick. Too bad the shaft circumference is not adjustable.

I cannot decide about these boots. As others have commented, the circumference is narrow. I ordered another boot model by Merrell (Eventyr Cuff Waterproof), in the same size; according to the description, the Eventyr has a slightly smaller circumference, but the Captiva Buckle-up definitely feels tighter. Even the foot is tighter. Once they are on, they seem pretty comfortable, but they do take a little work to get zipped up. Not sure if I am keeping these or not. As to size, I consistently wear a 9 in Merrell products, these are a bit snug - definitely no room for heavier socks. I was looking for a winter boot, these are so snug, I am not sure if they will be warm enough.
