I've had these shoes for a year. Uppers are still like new, though soles are almost worn through. Can't complain as they have done many, many miles, though I could get many more with thicker soles. They are not wide, but for me they were not too narrow. They are still water tight and do not make any noise when I walk, as described by another reviewer. The elastic laces are convenient, but I find the catch is hard to release to loosen the lace. This is my biggest criticism. This is annoying as the day goes on and my feet swell a little. I intend to buy another pair which is why I'm back on this site.

I would give five stars but there are only two things that I dislike about these shoes. While wearing them with the original insoles, due to the lack of cushioning, my left heel became swollen and bruised so I replaced them with Dr. Scholls insoles. Something else minor but I expected it, is how sweaty you feet get while wearing these since they are waterproof. After time it causes slight athletes foot. I like that you can slip them on and off easily and the waterproofing works great!

Honestly I don't understand all the width complaints, I have a wide-ish foot (usually wear a D or E) and these fit me fine. I originally tried Merrill Allout Blaze which were a lot wider than these and returned them for being too wide. I do get the point about these shoes being higher around the ankles, they are, but it doesn't bother me. The "stretch" aspect of these shoes means you can't just quickly slip them on without using your hands, you really need to sit down and pull them on. But no issues once they're on. I like the fit, the feel, the style, and the fact that they're waterproof.

Love these shoes. I have been wearing a variation of this shoe for 12 years and I still have the original 2 pairs purchased. They wear well go on and off easily. I am not sure about the narrow comments, but I have a normal width foot and these have been great for me and have surely hiked 100's if not thousands of miles in them as well as day to day use. I highly suggest these shoes.

I love the styling of these shoes but even when ordering a half a size larger than normal they are way too narrow and a challenge to get on my feet. If Merrell updated the fit of these shoes, they would have a big winner. But alas I must return them.

FATAL FLAW! ARRGGGGGHHHH!!! I've been wearing Chameleons exclusively for years and this year's model is stiffer and taller than previous models and now RUB MY ANKLES!!! I tried. I tried hard to like these. But a rub is a rub and it's a fatal flaw. Merrell has lost the Chameleon formula! I'm sad. I'm not sure what to do now! ARRRRGGGHHH!!!

I have long been a purchaser of Merrell shoes and have loved them until now. It seems the sole comfort has declined and the overall shoe is not made as well. falling part after just a few months. Not happy with the comfort as I once was.

The shoes make noise with every step. Also, the opening to slip your foot into is much narrower than prior versions.

Third pair of Merrell chameleon shoes. the first two pairs lasted 3 years + the new style no longer uses the Vibram sole and it seems as though Merrell really dropped the ball on replicating the previous version comfort and durability. Not the same shoes I was used to. they lasted about 2 minutes before shipping back.
