This vest was purchased for my husband as a gift. He loves it and I think he looks very handsome in it. The material is soft and the vest is very warm. He wears a medium size in just about everything, but we had to return the medium for a large, which fits very well. The khaki color is more of a caramel brown, but looks like the picture.

Very sturdy material. Close fit. Long on the length was a plus. Perfect for 3 seasons. Perfect for layering.

Definitely runs long and narrow. I'm 5'11, 44" chest, 40" waist, 250lbs, barrel chest/gut. ordered the XL. I like Kuhls pants since they fit people with big thighs, but this one is for skinny people. Fits fine across the chest, but the 'waist' is definitely for people under 40". The hem falls below my belt line, so it has to fit over the widest part of my hips. Have to pull the zip pretty good to bring it together. Would be perfect with buttons, you can leave the bottom one undone. Once it's past the first inch or two it fits fine, even with my gut in the way, but it never rides level and feels like a belt. hence 3 stars for comfort. Probably not gonna return it since I got it for layering and it fits quite well unzipped. Would probably be fine if I got back down to a 38" waist. Made of heavier stuff than I was expecting. The shell is made of similar cotton canvas to their pants, it has some kind of dense insulation and a thin polyfleece-like liner. Bit of a satin feel to it, so it's easy on/easy off. Interestingly, I got a Burr jacket as well as the vest. No problems with the jacket. I think it's slightly shorter so it doesn't start to zip over my hips, but my beltline.
