Great cushioning but for the first time in 20 years of running the Huaka is a show where 6 miles into my run the inner sole of the shoe actually worked its way out of the shoe! I had to stop and take the sole out to keep running. Poor craftsmanship and lack of durability seem to be quite an issue. This is my second pair of these shoes, the first one lasted for 150 miles of road running before all profile was worn off... And number two now has the sole issue. Great cushion yes but at that quality I am taking my money elsewhere.

This is a revision to my first review, which gave a glowing report way too soon. I was so happy with my Huakas for the first 80 miles. They were supremely cushioned and incredibly light. However, after just 80 miles, they've begun causing bruising and are now quite painful to run in. This was my first pair of Hoka One One shoes, so I don't know if my pair was defective or if this is characteristic of this model. I've written to Hoka expressing my concerns. Since I have 80 miles on them, I can't return them to Zappos, and it's not Zappos fault the shoes broke down. Bottom line: buyer beware.

I am obsessed with these shoes! I have struggled with plantar fasciitis for a long time and these are great for recovery--lots of cushioning, super comfortable. They do run slightly smaller than other running shoes. For reference I am a 9 in street shoes, but generally run in 10s. I find the 9 1/2 in the Hokas works best.

these are extremely comfortable shoes. I like the fact that they are so light. I also like the closure strings, which are much easier to use than regular shoe strings.

Very comfortable, but runs large in size! Most running shoes run a bit smaller than street shoes -- this fits like a normal street shoe. I'm getting a half size smaller than my usual running shoe size

These are my first pair of Hoka One One shoes. Previous versions were too unconventional looking for my taste. Once I saw the Huaka, a Hoka that actually looks like a regular running shoe, I couldn't wait to try it. Here's my take on it after 50 miles: Order a half size smaller; I had to return my first pair for a smaller size. (Zappos has the best customer service I've ever experienced!) These shoes are incredibly light, weighing in at just over 7 ounces for a women's size 6.5. They are super soft and bouncy on pavement, but not real flexible at first. The upper is a little skimpy feeling, and the no-tie laces took some getting used to, but these are definitely the most cushioned running shoes I've ever had. If you want to feel like you're running on marshmallowy clouds, I'd recommend these.

Great cushion. Not as much upper support as I'm used to, but the cushion really helped. Run a half marathon without pain!

I love the stability and cushion that the Hoka line gives. The sole is wider and higher than most running shoes. Yet, they are also unbelievably light! Fabulous for scooting up and down the hills of San Francisco. Honestly, the Hoka One Stinson is a slight better shoe as it is more constructed, and holds your foot better. Unfortunately for me, the seam of the tongue ran through the toe box and rubbed my odd (hammer) toe badly. I switched to this style as it has a "no sew" toe box. Much better for me and my strange feet. Zappos was amazingly accommodating through my trials and tribulations. Hugely appreciated.

The Huaka is okay, bit less cushy than my Saucony running shoes. They have a very different fit and feel than the Hoka One One Mafate 3 I purchased earlier this year and not even close to being as comfortable. I did not return them and I'm kind of sorry I didn't as I'm not wearing them very often.

I would recommend Hoka One One just not the Huaka.

I love this brand, but the new styles don't fit the same as last year's.
The toe box is VERY wide on this shoe, compared to last year's Stinson Tarmac.
Plus, the collar is high and it leaves a painful mark on my ankle. This will probably solve itself with a callous over time.
Still, I am hooked on Hoka's and will probably try another style next time.

Bought this shoe to convert my girlfriend to Hokas. She loves how they feel, but after four runs the upper is separating. Big let down considering how well my Stinsons have held up over the last year. May need to return these if possible.

Bottom line first: If you have wide(r) feet, these are for you. Just order a half size down from normal. I really wanted to love these shoes. I read about HOKA One One maximalist shoes in a fitness magazine. The reviewers said the shoes are like running on marshmallows. They do minimize impact when running, which is nice, but the rather wide width made my feet feel like they were swimming. The quick laces are a nice feature, however, because I had to really cinch my shoes closed (the two sides of the shoe completely meet together), I had an excess of laces to tuck in the elastic lace keepers, even looping them through twice. These also feel at least a half size larger than I normally wear: I buy shoes a half size bigger anyway to accommodate heavier socks and to prevent "turf toe" or "runner's toe ", but these are simply ridiculously huge. And don't think you'll be able to use these for much other than running- don't attempt any sort of balance-necessitating exercise on such an amount of cushion, such as Body Combat or Zumba. I've worn these a few too many times to return them. I guess I was trying to see if wearing even heavier socks would work, or if I was just having a bad series of days at the gym. Nope to both. I'll hang on to them: as long as I cinch them completely closed, they're wearable.
