I now own two pair of Hoka's. The Clifton and the Stinson. I prefer the Clifton's for running and the Stinson for walking. It has something to do with the pattern on the sole of the shoe. They are comfortable and look pretty good with my jeans. This brand gets a lot of attention from people due to the fat soles. I've never talked about my shoes so much as when I wear these!

I also have Clifton's which I love. These Stinson's are loose in the heel and stiffer and much tighter in the toe box almost like the shoes are the same width from heel to toe. That being said they still alleviate my knee pain like the Clifton's and my legs feel refreshed even during long and challenging runs. Definitely worth the creative lacing necessary to make them fit. Thanks Zappos for great service.

I like how the over foot fit is tighter and more secure feeling, including being a bit more durable. They seem a little high - might try a lower profile show next time but love the comfort of the Hoka.

I was so excited to get these and then so disappointed to find they felt so small and Zappos is out of the next size up. I have the MBT shoes which have a rocker-type sole but they are literally 2 pounds of shoe. These Stinsons are so light! The lacing system was odd in that the laces were hardly long enough to open the shoe to get my foot in but you can replace the system with the included regular laces. I am looking forward to trying on a pair that fits. Zappos is awesome I ordered these yesterday and got them today.

As an older [62] runner, I bought these shoes looking to protect my spine and joints from the wear and tear of running on hard surfaces. Minimalist running shoes are an expensive fraud, at least for those of us not privileged to run on sandy beaches. Having seen the suffering of those taken in by the "barefoot running" craze, I went in the complete opposite direction, with these heavily cushioned and supported shoes. I went too far. The shoes have been a moderate disappointment. Put simply, they are squishy soft and thus unsteady - like running on sponges. They don't communicate enough of the feel of the surface. The effort necessary to run is considerably greater than flatter shoes - making these great for workouts but not for competition or speed. No way are these suitable as trail shoes. They don't track well on stones, roots, scarp, or dirt. They are not waterproof. Their massive soles seem to get in the way. As far as I can tell, after five months and maybe 250 miles, the shoes are well made and durable. The orthotics provided were cheap (as in all running shoes), and I have tried various ones I have purchased for past shoes, without finding one that was fully compatible. I don't want anyone to read this and make the mistake of buying minimalist or barefoot shoes as a result. Unless of course you are the lucky SOB running only on sandy beaches - in which case why not just run barefoot and save on shoes?! Clearly there has to be a middle ground - sufficient cushion and shock absorption to protect the feet, spine, and joints from damage, while preserving some of the feel of the road, and particularly the woods.

This is the 3rd pair of Hoka one one's I have had to return...I've tried 3 different models and have to say I'm very disappointed. Ive worn Hoka's for several years now and unfortunately they just aren't the same any more. Very disappointed. Too Small, narrow and in the case of the Stinson - too tight to get your feet into due to lacing system being moved up. I guess I need to find something else. :(

Not worth the hype. I got these before Christmas and have been wearing these 5 days a week for work. I noticed a few weeks ago, I was getting a small hole in one shoe, the next week, a hole in the same spot on the other shoe. I will go back to my Brooks Addiction.

I was very disappointed in these shoes. Although they are very cushy (feels like I'm walking on marshmallows) and they did take away my knee and ankle pain when I run, I have blisters beyond belief. I've never had shoes give me blisters like this. The shoes fit fine. I've tried two pairs of socks, moleskin, bandades, and nothing works. And, I've now had them maybe two months and the tongue of the shoe just ripped. For the price, definitely not worth it!

Great shoes for knee and metatarsal problems. However, tab at end of tongue is detaching after only 1 month and poor quality construction. I hope the mfg corrects this defect. Otherwise a great shoe.

I bought these to replace an aging pair of Stinson Trail shoes. Loved those--nice width, fit perfectly, etc. But of course the style was discontinued. I find these narrower and less comfortable--but bizarrely, I am having less foot pain and running faster since I made the switch. It may simply be that the padding has not compacted (new shoes and all that), but I do find myself wondering if the design changes are part of the reason. The laces are too short on these, so that I have to stuff my foot in, because they don't open up the throat of the shoe all the way. The tongue comes up too high on the ankle so that I have to wear socks with a thick cuff around the ankle for comfort. Please note that, while I'm whining about some aspects of the shoe, I *love* being able to run without foot and knee pain. I'm 59 and overweight, so that matters a lot.
