I have been searching for a lace up black boot that fit well and is comfortable, basically something that looks great and also can be worn all day. This boot is beautiful, the leather is smooth and not heavy, the heel is perfect, and I have bunions and some tendon issues across the front of my feet and this boot accommodated all of that so well. It is also really pretty, the leather has a nice smooth glow, not too bright or too dull, and the inner lining is so comfortable. I love them! The fact that they are waterproof is also amazing because they are expensive, but I know they won't get ruined if I get caught in the rain! I also love that there is a zipper which makes them easy to get on and off and not have to tie and untie the laces all the time!

I originally thought these shoes were hurting my feet because I had pain in my arches. I wrote a review about it and Zappos offered to let me return them, but I chose not to. I can't find anything else like this style. They did stretch out a bit and I got insoles to add some padding. I love these shoes. Good quality, and I hope will last for years.

I have been searching for several yeas for a pair of laced, ankle boots of this quality! LOVE these boots! Worth the price, considering the quality, comfort, and they are waterproof. After a whole day of errands, I don't want to take them off when I get home ... they are that comfortable.

Bought a pair years ago and they were the most comfortable pair of boots I've ever owned. Worn consistently for both work and leisure, they were comfortable to walk in for miles at a time. Just ordered a new pair that I expect to enjoy for years to come.

I have terrible arthritis which is now affecting my feet which hurt all of the time. I get tired of wearing tennis shoes all of the time because of it and wanted something spiffier to wear with my jeans. I really debated about spending this much money on a pair of boots, but I'm glad I did. They are so comfortable and have not needed to be broken in. I ordered a size wider than I usually wear to accommodate thicker socks for padding, and they are working very well. I no longer feel like a "little old lady in tennis shoes." These are great boots, and I would buy them again.

The boots were very comfortable and looked very good at the beginning, but after just one year of use (which I think for almost $500 shoes is nothing), the inner lining all teared up, and now it makes it very uncomfortable to walk unless I have a thicker socks so I don't feel it.

I had a pair of these years ago. Back then they didn't have a zipper. I let them go during a downsizing. When I found myself in need again of a stylish pair of black, waterproof boots that go with everything from jeans to skirts, I again bought a pair of La Canadienne Sue. I received them in two days and found that they were perfect size 8 for me, not too snug, perfect toe box for my foot. They were as great as I had remembered and I was very happy with my purchase. The day after I received them I left for a weeklong trip to NYC and brought them to wear everyday. Luckily, with all the walking we did, these boots did not let me down. There was no breaking in period. My feet never ached. I could probably wear these everyday of the year, they are just that comfy and supportive. I'd highly recommend them, and they will last forever, so the price is worth it.

These are butter soft and comfortable right out of the box. If you're looking for a "dressier" bootie then this is it. And it's waterproof. The sole doesn't have as much grip as other boots. I'm not keeping them because I was looking for something for harsher winter wear.

After having worn these boots for a few months, I would like to add to a review that I wrote in November 2015. In June 2016 I wore these boots on an Alaskan cruise where I did a LOT of walking - on the cruise ship, on several shore excursions, and all over Anchorage. When traveling, I always pack a pair of tennis shoes, but I never had to wear them because my feet never hurt. I am so very happy that I purchased these boots. Never have I had a pair of shoes of any kind that I could walk in all day and not have my feet hurt at some point during that day.The leather is so very soft and comfortable and needs no break-in time at all. The boots are very well-made and should last for a long time, but I am so enamored with them that wanted a second pair "just in case" even though they are expensive (in my world, at least.) That is how great these boots are. I absolutely love them, and I think most anyone else would love them too!

I absolutely love these boots, I too would buy them again. I have worn them for three Winters and they are totally waterproof, they have excellent support, yet feel like a soft glove, and they are warm. I wear medium thickness socks with them. I cannot say enough good things about these real deal, fabulous, superb quality boots.

I wear a narrow and this was too wide. Unfortunately it does not come in narrow. Nice boot! I have to return them.

These are beautifully made shoes, and extremely comfortable, maybe half size larger than expected, as with any well made leather shoe. But although I don't consider myself exactly a fashion maven, they are so simple as to be boring and nondescript, which for a shoe this expensive is the kiss of death for me. Back they go.

I love the look of this shoe. Its what I call "classic" and I expected it would last several seasons. The leather is high quality and its lined nicely. However, I have never had a shoe cause me such pain in my arches. Not sure what it is. Perhaps too narrow? My feet ache for days after wearing it. I've tried 3 times. Any ideas on stretching this out or otherwise adjusting the fit, let me know. Else I am out $477. :-(

I’ve been eyeing this boot for at least two years, and I am glad I took the plunge. Fit is true to size. I have a big foot, but this style makes my foot look sleek and smaller. I need a bit more arch support, and there is ample room for a moderate insert. Leather is the real deal!! I am picky about leather, and this boot fulfills the dream.

Beautiful soft leather. Elegant shape. Love them, but not available in my size. Tried a size smaller, and they were too small. Boo hoo.

I tried 3 short boots from La Canadienne. This was narrower than I expected. Also, I didn't think it was outstanding in terms of looks. I love the idea of a short, lace-up boot, but I am not sure I would have kept this one even if it was wider.

I did not keep these. Nice idea for a boot, but it was too wide for my 10 narrow foot.
