Love this coat! Length is great, not too long so it's easy to get in & out of car with it on. Not bulky but very warm. I hate taking it off because it's like taking off a warm blanket. Color is a grayish blue although some people have called it purple.

I love this coat. The length is longer than the other jacket that I have in black that I purchased in 2010. The contrasting pattern on the inside is nice, too. I am usually a Medium in North Face. I am 5'5", 130 pounds and am muscular with broad shoulders.

I've bought Metropolis and Miss Metro for comparison. Metropolis has beautiful color (Black Ink Green), it's shiny and very light. It is very warm but it needs more under layers than Miss Metro for a windy day. I've read previous reviews that says that Miss Metro has tight sleeves. Measurements showed: The two of them have the same cut and thickness. I am XL and Miss Metro has a more flattering fit and a more feminine design then Metropolis style. It is also noticeably warmer than Metropolis parka. In favor of the Metropolis parka, Miss Metro is not as shiny. Anyway, I still need to decide which one I want to keep - I love them both! :)

Nothing bad to say about this jacket. Looks good. Fits good. Warm. Flattering even with curves and over DD cups (which is hard to find) Matches everything. A must have item.

I am retiring my 4 year old Metropolis Down Parka this year and I purchased both this new version and the Miss Metro. The Metropolis has changed it's cut a bit from 4 years ago. It is more streamlined and the sleeves are not as big. The sleeves aren't fitted, but are definitely more streamlined. The fabric has a nice, slight sheen to it. It is warm and cozy, while still being very lightweight. I've washed my old Metropolis many times and dried it in the dryer with tennis balls (a must). I returned the Miss Metro. The sleeves were too tight on that style, and the fabric was more of a matte finish.

I absolutely love this coat! It's very warm, but not too warm that you can't wear it on just a reasonably cold but not totally frigid day. Perfect for Chicago's ever changing climate. Also I have had one or two feathers poke through, but nothing I would consider a problem in the quality of this coat.

Comfortable coat, good length. However, the feathers tend to poke out the exterior. Not happy with that but satisfied with my purchase as The North Face will last me a long time. :-/

Love my parka its so warm! I would definitely recommend this to everyone who is thinking of buying a north face you won't be disappointed. I bought and xs I am 5' at 100 lbs and I have room to wear a sweater underneath. I do agree with some of the other reviews, it does loose feathers but it's not a big deal

It is a nice coat. I agree with most of the comments here. The length and size is perfect (I am 5.5 and 150 lbs) and I got a M. The hood is kind of small and does not stay on very well. It was a little wrinkly, but once you wear a few days the wrinkles came out. I bought black and you can see some dust and hair on it in the sunlight, but not too bad. On some parts the feather come out, but again, very minimal. Overall I like it, it is light, long, warm and it is not too boxy.

Beautiful coat and fits well, but not that warm in 20 degree cold and under. I bought this thinking it would combine warmth and style, but was disappointed in the amount of down.

Very warm, but after only a few weeks, the stuffing (not feathers) is starting to come through a couple spots. You will also shed down feathers all the time so beware with dark clothing

I absolutely love this jacket. I ordered one last year and have had great use out of it. However, white wasn't a good choice to buy because it can get dirty. So if you are someone who would wear the coat constantly, I would definitely recommend to buy a darker color. Overall, I love this jacket.

I got this as a replacement for a very similar North Face that I purchased seven years ago. This one fits pretty true to size - it is comfortable across the shoulders with a sweater (one problem that I had with several other parkas that I ended up returning). The hood is a little small - I wish it came up further over my head - it would also be cool if it had the faux fur. It is comfortable and warm.

I bought a size small for my daughter who is 5'1", 92lbs even though the North Face size chart said she should take an xxsmall. I am so glad I got the small - it fits her perfect! This coat definitely runs small. It will probably leave enough room for a medium weight sweater and that's it. It is closely tailored in the arms, shoulders and chest. The coat is very light, and doesn't seem to have as much down fill as I was expecting, so I'm hoping that it will hold up to sub-zero wind chills this winter (which is why I didn't give it 5 stars). Of course, my daughter doesn't care about that - she just likes the way it looks! And I must say, it looks great on her! It does not overwhelm her small frame at all. She loves it and wears it all the time now. If I was looking for a warm down coat for myself however, I would not get this because it just doesn't seem thick (warm) enough for the price you are paying. My daughter got this mainly to be fashionable and to fit in with the crowd. I'm just hoping it will also keep her warm enough this winter.

Sadly, there was hardly any down in this jacket and I still felt cold wearing it. Keep in mind I'm from Florida and wanted to feel warm in the Bay Area. I returned it - very stylish but not warm.

Too long for a petite woman - hit my knees and I'm 5'2". It was ok in style but not very high end feeling. No nice details, certainly nothing justifies the price.

I love the look and fit of this coat.It runs true to size. I am 5'3", 117 pounds and wear a small. The big problem is that it did not keep me warm. I walked outside with it on for about five minutes with my dog and had to come back in. I was wearing it in my house with temperature set at 65° to keep warm, as a light jacket, and it felt great, but outside in 36° temperatures, forget it. I am searching now for a warm coat.

They changed the design of this slightly from previous years in terms of how the shoulders are sewn and I think it is a change for the worse. The old design, while perhaps not as flattering aesthetically, was more function as it allowed for a greater range of motion and freedom of movement. They also downgraded the quality of down fill which is unfortunate. While I still think it's a great jacket, I think it's not as great as it used to be.

Really this is more like 3.5 stars. What brings it down is the Hefty bag sheen which I don't care for but others might prefer, the wrinkly appearance of the fabric and the hood that is too small and won't stay on. But there are a number of positives as well. First, the shape is a great improvement from last year's Metropolis which was big and boxy and I swam around in a size small. I read that this years version was more fitted so I ordered a size medium and it fits perfectly, not constricting in the arms, shoulders or back as I had feared. So a second plus the fit seems very true to size and is great throughout rest of the coat as well. 3rd, love the straight cut. It does not do that huge bell like flare out thing on the bottom as on the Gotham I also reviewed. The one thing I do not like is the shiny finish. That along with the wrinkled texture lend a distinct Hefty bag look and feel. If only the Gotham's matte finish was on this coat, I'd have given it five stars. Another issue is the shedding that seems very common to the North Face coats I have tried - already I see feathers poking out and have lint rolled it repeatedly. And I haven't even taken the tags off yet. So I hope I won't experience a repeat of what I saw with the Transit jacket from last year where the feathers leaked out non stop. Another great aspect is the length -- you can still freely move around and that extra coverage is appreciated on bitter cold days like today. I am 5'4 and it hits at my knees. The hood is a bit odd, does not cover my whole head and no amount of maneuvering with the pull strings can get it to stay put, but that isn't a deal breaker. I now have tried more jackets and coats than I can remember since last year trying to find one I didn't hate and this is truly the closest. I guess I will have to deal with the fact that there will always be one thing that drives me insane from a performance and/or a design aspect. If you are like me and prefer very plain, classic, minimal styling with straight lines and a flattering fit that doesn't make you look beefy or poofy etc. I think you will like this. Like I said, not a fan of the finish and in the black color it attracts and shows lint and dust like crazy. Some loose sloppy threads also bring down the overall rating. So far nothing that I couldn't trim down without hurting the fabric. All things considered I am hoping this turns out to be the winner for me!

Zappos' ordering process was flawless. Coat developed a hole in the sleeve after five uses. Probably have to return item at store. Hope replacement is easy.

Wanted to love this coat, but it leaked feathers and the stitching/seams looked a bit shabby. For a coat at this price I expected more so back it goes (thanks Zappos for your awesome free return policy). I did love the gray color too.

I really wanted to like this. I had wanted the Metropolis parka for over a year but they sold out last year before I could get one. Scored this new 2014 parka and sorry to say but I am disappointed. It is newly redesigned and is now really thin like a "Fall weight" jacket. The style is less boxy and more body hugging which should be a plus, but If I'm going to spend this kind of money on a "parka", it needs to be thick and warm as well. This may be down, but the arms are so thin I doubt it could keep a person warm in temps below 45 degrees. Wish I got last years version, sadly this is going back trying for the Miss metro instead!

I purchased this year's Metropolis to replace one that is several years old. Very disappointed in the changes. The sizing is very strange. I appreciate the less bulky arms but the bust area and shoulder holes are now way too small. Whereas I've always worn a Small in this coat (and my older two still fit) I now need a Medium and even that is a little tight through the chest. Quality is much poorer too. Material is too shiny and much thinner, less tear resistant. Coat is down to 550 fill and it shows. I can't imagine this keeping me warm through a Minnesota winter. Especially because it's too tight to get a fleece underneath. Returned it and ordered the Patagonia Down With It Parka, which is perfect.

This parka is cute enough, but it sheds feathers constantly. My car seat is covered with feathers, as are my sweaters. The coat isn't as thick or warm as other North Face jackets. Perhaps mine is a result of a low moment in outsourcing. I don't recommend this jacket though—for the price, it won't last more than a season.
