Jacket had a funky smell when I was caught in the rain with it. Customer service was great and exchanged it. I haven't worn it since, but I hope it doesn't happen again.

There does not feel to be enough down in this coat. My arms were cold, then I realized that the coat does not have sleeve cuffs! This is a very poor design for a cold weather coat. Also, the zippers in the pockets are not comfortable when your hands are in them. It is lightweight so the best use for it would be for warmer weather wear, over 40 degrees. Now that I'm stuck with it, Ill have to wear heavy wool clothing beneath it.

coat is fine but I do not like snap on/off hoods....previous experience with this type of attachment led to me losing the hood to other jackets...will continue to look for a fixed or zipper attached hooded jacket

I had wanted one of these coats for a couple years and decided this would be year. However, when the coat arrived it just didn't seem to have much down in it. I put it on and walked outside into the 0 F Minnesota evening and got cold after just a couple minutes. This coat would not protect me enough for winter use. Also, the front snaps, which are fantastic to have generally, were really hard to unsnap. I mean to the point that I worried the fabric would tear. The North Face could improve this coat by adding more down, putting fleece lining in strategic places like the chest, pockets, and sleeve openings, and putting in better quality snaps. I had to send it back.

Had to return because it runs small. Problem is that if I go a size up, it would be too long on the sleeves. I also wish the end of the sleeve had a cuff to keep the wind/cold out. I don't think this will hold up in the biting winter of Virginia so I'm just going to keep looking.

The color was much brighter than pictured. Also larger than anticipated. Very cute though.

Liked the length and color of the coat, but was too tight in the chest. I ended up returning, and would suggest to order a size up

For reference, I am 5'3" 105 lbs. The True Size fit said a Small would be ideal. It was not. It looked like I was wearing a sleeping bag it was so large and long. Also, it did not look like the picture online. I ordered Graphite Grey Heather and the color was very bland and looked dirty from a few feet away. I was so disappointed as I was really looking forward to this coat. In addition, the zipper was extremely hard to zip, almost as if it were already broken. I returned the next day and ordered the Thermoball Parka instead. Very pleased with the fit and style of the Thermoball.

Absolutely love the warmth this coat provides! The zippers on this coat are terrible. Within the first few days I went and exchanged this coat for a different one because I thought there just happened to be a glitch with the zipper....the new coat's zipper also functions poorly. Trust me, I know how to zip and unzip a zipper, and I can assure you there is an issue with the zippers they have been putting on these coats.

As long as you don't mind buying a size bigger than your normal jacket size, you're going to love this coat.

I love the jacket EXCEPT it is impossible to keep clean if you're wearing for everyday use. Around the collar, cuffs and along the zipper edge always looks grimy. I was leery of purchasing the coat initially because I was worried the material would not repel dirt but the sales woman assured me it would be fine. After two weeks, I tried to return it because I was unhappy at how easily it soiled but they would not allow it.

I returned this coat because I was concerned that the down was especially thin in the arms of the coat. Did not feel confident this would be warm enough for a Chicago winter. I ordered it in charcoal and it washed out my fair skin tone. I did however like the stitching and overal style.

I've been searching for a warm coat for ages and have returned 2 purchases in the last year. I was so excited over the possibilities of this North Face coat as I have heard from everyone how warm they are. I wore my new coat once. I live in Rhode Island and leave the house before the sun comes up to wait outside on a windy train platform. It was 25 degrees and breezy...not a big deal in New England. I could feel the wind through the arms (I think there are 3 feathers in each sleeve) and my back was cold. There is no hem opening (kick pleat) to enable one to walk without opening the front zipper which then transforms itself into wings that flap to the side. I do not have heavy arms but a light weight sweater is all that could fit under this coat. This price? I don't think so! Back it goes. I give up...down coats are not what they used to be. Made to look cute but not for serious needs.

The size medium is too snug - which is odd because a size small sweater from LL Bean fits perfectly. The Baroque Purple is comparable to an eggplant color.

I had an older North Face Metropolis parka which I was getting bored with color-wise so decided to buy a new Miss Metro in the navy color. Both were size Medium. The Miss Metro is a more flattering jacket on but that is because it is cut much slimmer in the body and in the arms. I used to be able to wear heavier-weight clothing under my Metropolis that will absolutely not fit under my Miss Metro. And the shoulders of the Miss Metro are sewn differently than the older Metropolis and do not allow for the same range of motion and freedom of movement as the Metropolis. The older Metropolis also used better 600 fill down as opposed to the 550 fill down of the Miss Metro. I sold my older Metropolis on eBay to fund the purchase of the new Miss Metro and now regret that decision as I believe the older Metropolis was a more wearable coat although not as flattering on as the Miss Metro. I will also note that the current Metropolis design has been changed compared to the old Metropolis and some of the same shortcomings I found with the Miss Metro apply to the current Metropolis. Sadly this appears to be the case of newer isn't always better. However in general I think the quality of North Face products are awesome. We have quite a few North Face jackets in my family. And even when worn a ton, they wash up well and will look great for a long time. They also hold their value well as I have been able to sell then for good prices on eBay or via Facebook groups. My old Metropolis was worn a ton but washed up well and still looked great. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a North Face product again.

Sleeves are indeed too tight. I'm 5' 4" and 126 lbs. and ordered the Medium. Just adored the color (Dapple Grey - has a hint of lavender blue in it), and the length hit just above my knee, not higher as shown in the photo. Sleeves were tight with just a long sleeved shirt, and also there were no inner cuffs which felt cheap given the price. I compared this coat to a LOLE that I also ordered, and the LOLE was much better quality hands down. Since I love the color, I might exchange for a large and see how it fits; however, I think it will then be too long and I'll be swimming in it. Undecided and a bit disappointed in quality.

The fit runs small if you want to wear sweaters or layers for when your coat is off. I loved the color Urban Navy and warmth but runs to small in the arm and chest area, hopefully the design will change next winter season it's offered .

The hood snaps are too small and pop off every time I put up my hood. They are cheap, compared to the rest of the coat, which is wonderful.

This coat is very good for Michigan winters. Bought February 2018, so I wore it at the tail end of the winter and it worked well. Washed it to prepare for the coming winter and followed the directions exactly as they are stated on the coat. Took it out of the dryer and the filling is all balled up. Now not wearable.

I wanted to love this jacket, but it just does not fit well. It seems larger than other North Face down coats in medium that I have. Plus the fall is poor in that the bottom bunches up instead of falling straight.

This coat is so stylish, and I got so many compliments on it. It's incredibly warm, too. However, after using it for only one winter, the down filling began to shed intolerably. Anytime I took the coat off, I was literally covered in feathers. I'm not kidding--literally covered. I contacted TNF Customer Service, and I was told to ship the coat (at my own expense) to TNF offices for them to evaluate the product. In the middle of winter. Shortly thereafter, that annoying, inconvenient little badge on the left arm got hooked on my purse and tore off, leaving a gaping hole in the arm. So problem solved, I guess. I ended up buying a Thermoball Hooded Parka to replace it, which I love. My husband, my kids, and I only own TNF jackets and coats. We're very pleased with the quality of every other piece of TNF outerwear we've ever worn, but this particular coat just wasn't up to the same standards. And I was disappointed in TNF's proposed remedy. If the coat is so obviously defected, why should all of the inconvenience be placed on me--the purchaser? These aren't cheap pieces of outerwear, after all.

I've had this coat 3 years and I wouldn't recommend. I live in NYC. I have to layer underneath it like crazy just to stay warm, and even then it doesn't do a great job. The hood just keeps the head warm, but it doesn't protect your face at all -- the slightest flakes will get in your face and become very bothersome. When it is even drizzling, the coat gets wet, and then SMELLS gross. I wish I never bought this coat. I'm presently looking for a shell that I can actually make the investment worthwhile.

I just recently moved from Washington state to the Chicago area, so I bought this for the cold winters. Sadly, it was much, much lighter than I had expected so I had to return it. I think this would work for more mild winters. It's certainly a beautiful, long jacket, but it would require several layers to withstand the weather where I'm currently at.

I got this coat as a birthday present and last winter was the first year I wore it! I absolutely loved it and felt that it was functional and stylish... flash forward to this year.... out of the blue one day I notice feathers blowing in the wind as I'm walking to class. I look down to find a hole of about 2 inches on my left shoulder, where the north face metal logo is, I was totally upset because I have no idea what happened, but all of a sudden it feels like my coat is falling apart... I now have tape on it to cover the hole but for the price tag, I would've hoped that I could've worn this coat for years!
