I've been a TNF customer for years -- I've got the 22" and 30" Rolling Thunder versions for carry-on capacity and week-long travel and the base camp duffel in M and L for use when wheels aren't imperative. Bought the Rolling Thunder 36" for a six month work assignment in Europe, needed something that could handle late winter, spring, and early summer clothes for work and play, as well as running gear and equipment for day hikes and week-long excursions in the nearby Alps. This can take it all. Sure, a monster piece like this one is heavy -- 10 lbs empty -- but it is sturdy as can be. Even for big capacity use you'll still need to pack judiciously, and you may find that you'll pay extra to check the bag (unless you work with a sympathetic ticket counter employee!), but that is to be expected. Only qualm is that the excellent retractable handle is missing from the 36, which makes rolling through airports and through streets less of a breeze. The grips handles are manageable and the wheels are the same high quality as on the 22 and 30, though. All things considered, this is the bag for that will make small work of your biggest travel loads.

I love how light it is. Technically it's an oversized checked bag, but not that much bigger, they usually don't say anything about its physical size. They always notice weight though, an being only 10 lbs, that gives you ALOT of volume to carry a lot of weight, compared to other luggage options

I ordered this and the comparable Patagonia. After I received both and went through them, the Patagonia got sent back. The North Face bag had more durable materials, shell, handle and wheels for a better price. Even if they had been the same price I would have kept this bag. Over all a better item. Then I traveled for two weeks in Asia with stops in South Korea, Macau, Hong Kong, Melbourne and Brisbane. It worked perfectly and could not be more happy with it.

2nd one I purchased in 4 years. Gave my used one to son because he always borrows it. Very solidly built (especially the wheels) and roomy. Looks very cool, as my son would say.

I have had a few Rolling Thunder bags. I travel twice a week and these bags have held up extremely well. Very sturdy and easy to roll around. I have even loaded a second carry on bag on top of the handle and pulled it through countless airports. Worth the price. You will own this bag for a loooong time.

Amazing quality! My husband travels every week and is not easy on luggage. This bag has even been run over by a car! The zipper is tested every time he uses it and it does not disappoint. He's had the previous version of this for over 10 years and it's still in great condition, just sent it in to have the handle fixed.

I took this bag to Europe and it performed well. It was easy to roll even down cobbled streets. Its a great size and fitted in the overhead bins of the Italian fast trains. Would highly recommend

This think is a tank...I have had 4 roundtrip flights since purchase, and it has held up extremely well. I will admit, not having a grab handle down in the center by the bucket to pull with, rather they are on each end, takes a bit to get used to, but i managed. Much better than my old piece of luggage i had for years with Eagle Creek.

I have used this as my checked bag on a few intercontinental trips and an overseas trip. It has held up perfectly while getting thrown around by airlines. There is a TON of space. It rolls with ease too.

I use it for travel. It has a lot of room and seams like it will hold up. I love the weight and the outside material. It only has 2 wheels so that limits how you roll it.

So tired of wrapping my packs in garbage bags. This will serve me well for many years. Wish it had a handle though.
