Wore these for a week of cross-country hiking in moderate to hot weather. Overall they're very lightweight, breathe very well and have a good range of motion thanks to the generous amount of stretch. They also dry very quickly and pack very, very small. However, they're not without faults. As another reviewer mentioned, they look strangely slouchy from the knee down, almost like pajama pants. This may have something to do with the relatively large leg opening. You definitely won't wear them into town. A more serious problem is that although mine are tagged as a 32" inseam, the actual measured inseam barely breaks 30". I'm 6' tall and when bouldering or taking a knee, my ankles are exposed even in mid top hiking boots. Lastly they pill fairly easily from contact with scrub. Pro: lightweight, breathable, quick-drying, packable, comfortable to wear. Con: sizing and fit are problematic.

I would like to support comments many have made in reviews on these and other pants. My new pants are going back. For whatever unknown reason, new versions are much tighter in the crotch. Its funny how these can be cut where there is plenty of room at the waist but not where your hips flex. Before you even get to hiking and climbing chances are you will not like these just walking around or sitting. Be mindful of this and other similar comments when ordering online to avoid returns. If you can try them on in a store your are better off. I really hope they revert or fix recent modifications rather than discontinue the model because otherwise they are great pants which you will grab for many activities. You will find similar complaints on many other models of pants. So I'm done with ordering any pants from this site until I hear that there as been a change. - Be careful and save yourself the hassle of returns.

Material fals short of expectations. It is sold as rock climbing but maybe only if you don't actually scrape or touch the rock with them. I hit my knee on a rock doing very light scrambling and bouldering and put a hole in the material. I understand it is classified as light-medium and not heavy duty, but it should sustain light contact with the environment. Good for around town maybe, but that's about it. The fit is a bit odd. Cannot put my finger on it,but it seems too large on the lower part, from knees down.

My other Arc pants - the Rampart and Gamma LT and Stingray ski shell - fit perfect. Small (30" waist) regular length (32", which is really actually 30") always fits. The pants are cut great. The Perimeters just don't work for me. I don't know if the rise is too low or what. While the length is, as usual, great, the 30" waist is definitely too small. There is packagial discomfort simply sitting down. They feel tight and constricting, which the other models never do. I tried the 32" waist and it is definitely too large and loose and bunchy. Strange. I really wanted to like these pants and it seemed like a good weight slightly up from the Ramparts. I'll have to give the Palisades a try next.

At first I loved these things. My only real gripe was the fit from the pockets up, felt sort of tight, and it was somewhat of a struggle to get my hands in the pockets, but whatever. Used them for a handful of bouldering sessions and a couple weekends clipping bolts at Big Chief outside Truckee, and they turned out to be stellar climbing pants, albiet a tad hot for the gym. Also used them for fieldwork, and i was pretty impressed with the way water rolled right off the material, and the fact the they dried super quick. However, I pulled them out of the washing machine the other day, and heard a couple pops, turned out the stitching isnt quite as hardy as the material, back to the shop they go. Traded them out for a pair of Ramparts, better fit for sure, and feel a little more beefy. If Arc'teryx is looking to improve these, I'd say the stitching, and the fit from the thighs up are both deserving of some attention and tweaking, other than that, solid.

It is sad to see the differences between these and the better constructed older version of these pants. A side by side comparison show the cheaper material, poorer stitching, and less useful design. They should have lowered the price on this new version because of the all the cost cutting made from the old design to the new inferior design. Stitching: poorer quality thread that bunches up after washing and creates a uneven pattern along the seams after they dry. Kind of like waves on the ocean. Material: a different blend than the older version that is cheeper looking and not as robust. Lining on the old design used the same quality material. New version has a different cheaper pocket lining. Design: The older version has 9 pockets that have better locations and effortless to put you hand in to access gear. The new version has 7 pockets that are at different locations and harder to access. I would not buy these pants again until they returned to the previous version with better quality stitching, material, and design.

I've had two pairs of these pants and in both pairs the stitching has come out in nearly the exact same place in the rear part of the gusseted crotch. And after only a few uses casually. While the pants are comfortable if the stitching isn't going to last then what's the point?
