Awesome jacket! As always I tend to shop the men's section for Marmot! For some odd reason Marmot's men's section attracts me more! Anymore jacket is true to size. Ordered a Small in Shetland / Cairo color. These colors weee enough to be a girly hue for me. Jacket definitely keeps me warm. I wish it was @ 700 than 600 filled. But either way it's still comfortable and does the job.

This is surprisingly an amazing jacket. It's very light and so warm. However, at 35 or below, I'd use it with Marmot hoodie and neck gaiter or scarf. I'll get another one if it comes with hood. I bought it during big clearance so I'm a happy customer. Highly recommended.

I own two of these jackets in different color combos. I'm 5 ft 10, 34" waist and about 180 lb and a large fits perfectly. Fairly lightweight and looks stylish enough to wear to the office in a business casual setting. I own much warmer down jackets and much more technical ones but the Ares is a great all around grab and go jacket for everyday wear. Warm enough for 80% of the cold weather we encounter in the Carolinas. I like the shiny look of the older version of this jacket better than the satin finish on the new one so I bought a 2nd on sale to add to my collection. I bought my first Ares about 7 years ago and it's holding up well.

Love this jacket. My second puffy from Marmot and they have yet to disappoint. Kept me perfectly warm when I was outside at soccer game in 25 degree weather.

Bought this as a gift for my husband, he was excited that it was just as warm as his puffer coat but not as bulky. Fit is great and I love the colors on him!

This jacket is the (Profanity). Fits just right, can handle temps below freezing and you'll still be warm. So warm, that you'll have to unzip and show some chest hair. If you rip it on a sharp point in the bed of a truck while bouncing through a wheat field hunting pheasants, all it takes is some super glue to mend it back together and it's not even noticeable.

I'm skinny (6-1", 165lbs) with a medium sized torso and long arms. The small fits perfectly! Love the color combo and it's super warm. I'm a spring/summer/fall kinda guy and excited to bust through winter with my new jacket!

This jacket is perfect paired under a larger jacket for extra warmth on those really cold days or over a sweater for cooler days

I gifted this to a buddy of mine who also happens to be my trainer. He absolutely loves it! The fit is great, the material, soft and comfortable. He's been wearing it every morning while riding his bike to the gym! Probably going to get one for myself too!

I purchased the Ares jacket, mainly to use as an insulating mid-layer under a shell. The 600 fill is warmer than some 700 fill jackets I've owned. Fabric is soft, light and quiet, and seems to do a good job of keeping the feathers from shedding. The stand up collar is cut on the generous side, and lines up nicely with the collar/hood on the Freeride jacket. I've been very comfortable skiing with Freeride/Ares combo and a base layer in mid-teen temperatures. The colorways are a straight throw-back from the '70s, but with modern textiles and down defender, is heads and shoulders better than the poly-down knock-off I wore in high school. The only negatives worth mentioning are lack of pit zips, which is less of an issue if worn as a mid-layer, and the fabric seems to want to hold the shape of the folds from the original packaging. The upside is, the jacket is warmer through the body since the insulation doesn't get interrupted by 2-15" zippers. The folds/wrinkles will probably work themselves out eventually, possibly after a washing, but I'm not putting it through a wash cycle until absolutely necessary. The Ares replaces an Avant Featherless jacket returned on delivery. Nothing wrong with it, but the cut was weird, and the fill felt closer to foam rubber than down. Never wore the Avant outdoors to comment on warmth. I would definitely recommend the Ares jacket for a really warm mid-layer, or outer layer. My only concern is how the lightweight fabric might hold up to abrasion and tree branches, but so far no issues. I'm a 58yo male, 5'-7", 180-ish. I purchased a large, and fit is slightly generous, but pretty confident a medium would be tight around the mid-section.
