I was relocated to Chicago and went to the North Face shop in Atlanta. Asked for the correct jacket for windy Chicago in winter. Got this one with a white shell. I am delighted with both products which I have used alone and combined. Great the real cold and not so cold days. This is one of the best purchased I have made. I strongly recommend it.

I purchased this jacket over a month ago and I really like it. The jacket is very light, comfortable and most importantly warm! The only thing I did not like was the fact that there is no inside pocket for my iPod or phone. I also have a triclimate jacket that this jacket fit into perfectly.

This is a great classic that does everything it is supposed to do. It is not flashy or trendy, just perfect at what it is supposed to do. One comment (not negative whatsoever) is that the size runs a hair large, so if you are in the bottom range of XL you may need to get the L.

I wanted a down puffer that would also work as a liner for my Northface shell and this fit my needs perfectly. It's super warm, looks great alone, and fits my shell better than the light liner I have for it now. I live in Indiana and this winter has been brutal, but my new coat makes outdoor adventures extremely enjoyable. Buy this coat, you will NOT regret it.

I have been wearing the vest version(which is also awesome) of this coat for awhile and it just got old having to constantly layer up just to go outside. So, I decided that I would give this jacket a try and I am glad I did because it's been the best purchase thus far. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to stay warm. The North Face is a quality brand that I cant get enough of. We are SUPER FANS!!

I needed a warm jacket for our cold winter months. After reading the reviews from other companies I knew the North Face was my best purchase. The jacket is warm, comfortable, and looks good with anything I wear. Great jacket!

There's a reason all the crew guys and girls own this coat. It keep you warm. Out in the desert or mountains or even the early morning chilly streets of LA or the frigid sound stages of Universal City??_these jackets perform. It's the kind of jacket you want when you're standing around all day in the cold, or trudging across et on a exterior night shoot below 50degrees Sure it's bulky, and sure you feel like the michelin man. But thats the point. It's warmth you seek and the jacket delivers. it's also tough. The nylon and reinforced shoulders take abuse, the kind that cold 16 hour days dish out like punishments. But if you want an original thats lasted me 12 years/seasons. Buy this one now. This jacket could save your life and your sanity.

I have had many jackets designed to keep me warm. Short of a long, down coat with a hood (that I only wear walking my dog), this is the warmest jacket I have ever had. It is lightweight, soft and comfortable. Strong winter winds do not penetrate it. With only a cotton tee shirt underneath, and temps in the 20s, this coat keeps me warm. My wife has one, and my daughter has confiscated it, so of course, I bought one for my daughter.

I was a little hesitant about the price at first but I am 100% satisfied with my North Face jacket. It's very lightweight and incredibly warm, especially during the Polar Vortex we're experiencing in Michigan. I love this jacket. I've since purchased a pair of North Face gloves and North Face boots.

If I has known how warm this jacket would be I would've purchased it years ago. I normally wear a xxL bit was told they run big so I got an XL fits perfect.

The day after I picked up this jacket, I went to a bonfire, 15 degrees F. With a light fleece underneath I was perfectly comfortable even well away from the fire. Very light. Nice color and styling. Would definitely buy another.

I bought this coat for my son, who is attending college and needed a warm winter jacket. He walks a mile to and from his dorm every day to get to campus, and winters are cold here. He's had the jacket a few weeks now and loves it. The outer nylon layer is stylish, but also effectively repels rain and snow.
The coat is very warm. The only issues, non of which are major, are:
1. There is no chest pocket in the jacket, only two side pockets, which makes it hard to carry everything you need at times.
2. There is no hood on the coat, meaning you have to carry a hat or layer the jacket with a hoodie in colder weather or rain.
3. The length is shorter, so if I had gotten a medium, it would have fit perfectly everywhere but length. I believe the jacket runs a little short in this aspect. The pocket adjusting cords can also affect this if you pull them tightly, but if used appropriately my son says they are a great addition to the jacket.

As a longtime backpacker, you have to choose equipment that you trust to keep you alive when you are 50+ miles into the Sierra Nevada mountain range. In this environment, weather can change on you in a flash. Last time I climbed the Mt. Whitney peak it was -26F with 30MPH wind chill at over 14000ft (TNF was my BEST friend on that trip). TNF has always been my go-to outfitter for just about anything mother nature can throw at you. I originally purchased this as a zip in for my Vortex tri-climate. This way it has become a quasi-quad climate system that I am extremely happy with. I can say without reservation, that if I wanted to climb Mt McKinley or Ranier this setup would keep me warm and dry. Fit was spot on as I used the TNF site fit recommendation. I am 5'9" and 200 lbs and the large is perfect for me. Warmth can be described as wearing a -15 degree TNF sleeping bag (super toasty). I suspect that with the vortex shell I should be comfortable down to the -20 to -40 range. The attention to detail comes from unparalleled research, and guys that actually know what they are talking about. I have been using TNF equipment for over 30 years and will continue to extol the virtues of their products. For the performance, I would have been ok paying even 100$ more for this jacket. Go ahead and spend the $. If you are serious about your equipment consult TNF as a baseline for ANY equipment purchase. Style, fit and finish, performance, and a long standing reputation for excellence. You just can't loose.

Ive been searching for a good winter coat for some time when I came across the Nuptse 2. Love this coat. Its super comfy and warm. The first day I got it I went outside in 20degree windy weather with nothing but a t-shirt and this coat and I didn't feel any wind at all. It also looks great!

I spend most of my day outside, and this jacket is comfortable, and extremely warm. This is my first North Face down jacket, and certainly won't be my last.

Like the title says as soon as I tried on the medium I knew I found an awesome coat...lightweight and warm! Tied of heavy coats with fleece linings that can be worn as coats. I am 5'7" and 159lbs. and most of the other brands had the coast way too long and heavy. I had wanted down for a while but only saw "fair" quality vests. Then I decided to check out what North Face had after buying a great pair of boots (Baltero 400 lll# by them last year. This coat fits perfect. not loose yet overly tight. Zippers simple and easily used with gloved hands #TNF ETIPS Stretch Fleece) and a perfect combo. This winter jacket is absolutely the best looking and lightest cold weather jacket I ever owned. I higly recommend it as it was 28 degrees and windy the other morning and just the jacket over my work shirt was all I needed. The neck/collar is a great design. Thank you again North Face for a quality product.

Purchased this for high country ( 11,000 - 12,000) ft. mule deer hunting. I have used the Nuptse down vest for years as a layer under Gore-Tex hunting coats and have been 100% satisfied. I've found as I age I'm not able to withstand the cold and killer winds in the high country like I used to. The logical next step was to move into a high grade down jacket, as far as I'm concerned TNF is about as high grade as they come. So the new Nuptse 2 will replace my beloved Nuptse vest as a base layer. I truly wish TNF would come out with some HUNTER FRIENDLY colors!!!! Maybe ATACS or at the very least a subdued OD green...

This is one of the 'original' North Face jackets and legend has it that it only even came about due to excess sleeping bag materials at the factory (which, at that point in time, was a tiny operation)...as well as a need to outfit climbers with something durable, packable (light) and most importantly - warm. I'm pleased to say the current version of the jacket still holds up for the same reasons. I've worn it for cold evenings and mornings in the backcountry (low 20s F) with a baselayer or lightweight fleece underneath and have been plenty warm. It also packs down to an extremely small size, which is key from both a space and weight perspective when backpacking. Lastly, the outer facing of the fabric is fairly abrasion-resistant...I've gotten it scraped on rock and snagged on branches without incident . It is an extremely comfortable but 'puffy' jacket - so some might not be into this look - if so, there are other jackets out there that don't have the same level of down feathers in the 'fill' of the jacket - but, consequently, in my experience you won't be as warm either. Overall, this is a fantastic piece of eminently functional outerwear that I highly recommend. It's nice to know that the North Face is still producing jackets at the same level as decades ago.

Size was chosen from the suggested dimensions I provided. I have a prior purchase of the down vest by North Face, and I have another brand of jacket that I wear with no issues. This jacket fits well and is very warm and comfortable. It is also an excellent wind breaker, which I often require, and it is superior to the other brand I own. I picked this jacket because I like their vest, but need the additional warmth of the jacket much more often. I would recommend this jacket to anyone wanting a nice warm, lightweight, wind protecting jacket.

Bought this for a cold weather trip and was not disappointed with the warmth. Fit is a little bulky and it has no features, but it kept me warm so 4 stars overall. Good quality jacket which, disappointingly, doesn't fit as snugly as my old nuptse vest so I'm considering having it slightly tailored to fit a little more snugly.
