I ordered this jacket two days ago with hopes that it will help me through another Chicago winter. It arrived the next day, which I could not thank Zappos enough for. And wouldn't you know it, snow, hail, rain and wind over 50mph came through Chicago today. My jacket held up perfectly! It's everything I had hoped for. I was actually starting to sweat, with only a short sleeve shirt, skirt and sheer tights on. 5'7, 130 and the small was great. I recommend this to anyone looking for a fab jacket to take you through a rough winter season.

This was my 3rd winter coat purchase this year and I'm proud to report this is the 'one'. I'm 5'4, 140 lbs, and the medium is perfect. It goes slightly past the knee and is also roomy enough to wear a sweatshirt or chunky sweater underneath on extra cold days. I live in rural, SW New Hampshire and it dips well below zero in the winter months and feel confident this will be the perfect down coat for walking the dog and going to work. I previously ordered the NF Transit parka (the hood was freakishly tiny and bonnet-like) and the NF Tremaya (overly designed, too many bells and whistles). The Patagonia down-with-it is the perfect utilitarian jacket for everyday winter wear. Warm, comfortable, ample hood and will never go out of style.

I love this coat. Just wore it yesterday in New York where the temp was about 18 degrees without the windchill factored in and I was warm the whole time. Walked 10 blocks! Gave it a 4 star for style as I am very petite - 5 feet 2 and 106 pounds. I have an extra small and it is a little (not a lot) big.

I got this coat just before traveling to Belarus for a month in January. Temps can go to -15F there, so I was a bit skeptical that such a thin coat can keep me warm. All worries were for nothing. I love this coat. I spent hours every day outside, and with a long sleeve t- shirt and a thin sweater I never felt cold in 0F. With a thicker sweater I was walking and playing in -10F, and it felt very comfortable.. Just with a long sleeve t-shirt it is great in mid20s and up. I am 5'11" 140lbs, and size M has enough room for a sweater. Sleeves are the right length, not short. Shoulders are cut very comfortably, so I do not feel when I raise my arms all the way up or move them around. I went tubing in this coat, and it never restricted my movements. The coat in general is so light and fits the body like a glove that I forget I wear winter clothing (you know that dreadful feeling of having 100lbs on you and sweating when you walk inside - no more of that). Looks like this coat will replace all my other winter coats.

I really like this jacket. I like the knee length, it feels like it will be really toasty in the winter! Unfortunately I ordered a small, based on the website's model's measurements, and should have stuck with what I usually wear in Patagonia, which is medium or large. I am 5'10" and 137 lbs. It actually fit quite well in the hips, which is where I expected it to be too small. But it was too tight in the chest (I'm barely a 36C), and the sleeves were a tad bit too short. I will be trying it in a medium.

I absolutely love this jacket! It's the warmest down jacket I've ever owned and it's not bulky. The color is perfect - not bright white - it's more like an ivory, which I love. I'm 5' 4", 127lbs and the small fits perfectly and it allows for multiple layers underneath while still being comfortable. I have gotten more use out of this jacket this year especially with the particularly harsh winter we've had here in the Boston area. If you're even thinking about buying this jacket, just do it; you won't be disappointed. Also, Patagonia down feathers are 100% traceable.

I am 130 5'9. I ordered small from patagonia.com (they're sold out here ð???) but figured I'd still review here. I am returning it for XS; based on reviews and patagonia customer service I ordered small and it was quite big. I don't need my coats skin tight, but this had way too much room. For the record I have practically no bust, and am about a size 4 in jeans, so my hips aren't too wide. Overall liked the coat. Sleeves I'm a little worried about, I'd like them a smidge longer. But, would recommend! I'm not sure how others like their coats to fit, but the reviews were very deceptive.

Great coat. Not obnoxiously puffy like some. Great hood. It's stays put when not being used but it a great size when you want a hood on. Like the long length too. Agree with other reviewer that the sizing on sample/model is odd. I doubt a person with those measurements is wearing the SM unless maybe with just a t-shirt. I ordered (and returned) the Marmot Chelsea which is nice but the hood is oddly small.

Awesome coat! I am from Boston and originally bought the North Face Metropolis jacket but was very disappointed in the quality. It was way too thin ( I was freezing at 35-40 degrees) and the material felt cheap. I bought the Patagonia Down With It parka and am very happy with my purchase. I am a 6'1" female so coat and sleeve length are important for me. The coat hits right above my knees and the sleeves were long enough (they were super short with the North Face coat). The jacket is also very warm and has a feminine fit without making you look like a giant cloud! Highly recommend this jacket!

I needed a new parka so tried this and the North Face Metropolis. Returned the Metropolis and kept this. This is a well constructed, true to size coat. Much more substantial, warmer and tear resistant than the Metropolis. Two way zipper works well and it's a nicely shaped coat, as far as insulated down coats go. Allows a good range of movement if you want to walk or do more than stand in it. I've already weathered a week of 10-20 degrees in it and done fine. Highly recommend!

I moved from the West Coast (mild winters) to the Washington D.C. area just in time for some cold, horrific weather. I knew I needed to invest in a great winter coat. This one fits so darn well and still looks fairly slimming. I'm 5'5" and 130 lbs. but I have fairly broad shoulders so I ordered a size medium. I've worn it with some different sweaters underneath and still have plenty of room. At the same time it's cut well so I don't feel like the marshmallow man. We just had some cold days with temps at and below freezing. So far so good!

This jacket is very warm, and wind and water proof. I bought it just 2 days before the first Boston blizzard of 2015 and it has successfully gotten me through the rest of this crazy winter here. Overall, this jacket is worth it. I am 5'6", 140 pounds and wear a size small comfortably with room to wear a bulky sweater or fleece on extra cold days and the jacket hits above my knees. The sleeves could be longer, but not a big deal (unless you have extra long arms). The hood doesn't always stay on when it's very windy but I think this depends on your head and hair. Also, for the price of this jacket I was surprised that within days of owning it feathers already started to come out at the seams. While it's not a lot of feathers, I would say there are stray feathers constantly coming out. Overall, I love this jacket and I find it warm without being overly puffy like other jackets.

This is a great winter coat. The previous coat (of a discontinued brand) I had lasted me 12 years, with only one repair made, so for this season I needed a replacement coat and was looking for something which will (hopefully) last me many years again. I really like the Patagonia brand and philosophy, and find many of their items to be very well made high quality and cleverly thought out. This jacket meets those expectations. I like the length (keeps my thighs protected from cold and wind), and the hood (very warm and has adjustable tightness for different head sizes), and two way front zipper (for when I need to reach into my pants pockets but want to keep my torso zipped up), and the inner hidden chest pocket (it is very deep and fits a lot!). The jacket is warm and comfortable, and I love the simple minimalistic design (no flashy logos or extra decorations). The hand warmer pockets are ultra soft and comfortable, and I like the chocolate brown color. A few small dislikes: -the zipper pulls on the side pockets are very tiny; it is nice that they blend in, and I have gotten used to them by now, but I am normally accustomed to the ease of a bigger zipper pull. -the cuffs at the sleeves are unfitted so when I do not wear gloves or long-sleeve sweaters, cold air goes up the loose cuff and into the arm sleeves. Overall this jacket is very warm and exactly what I was looking for. I live in Chicago and need something winterproof. I am 5'3", 110 pounds, normally wear size 4/6 or S/M; I ordered a small in this jacket and it fits perfectly. It is warm enough to wear over a short sleeve shirt for a quick trip outside during a not too cold day; I normally wear one or two sweaters underneath and it fits well then; It is very snug when I wear three or four sweaters underneath, but this insulates more warmth into my body, and I am still able to move my arms around comfortably.

This coat seems too light to be warm. It seems to fit true to size. However, the coat was ordered in a black and is an army green color. I will be returning to find a warmer and heavier coat.

This coat is beautiful. I cannot attest to the warmth, although it did not feel as warm as I would have liked it to be. I ordered the xs and I am 5'6 100lbs. The torso fit perfectly. It was tight enough to keep the warmth in yet I could layer underneath. I am returning it because the length of the arms was too short. It came to a couple inches above my wrist bone and I like long sleeves. It probably has to do with my height and weight so if you usually do not have issues with sleeve length it could work for you.

I was not impressed with this coat. First off it looked like a dirty white. Second the hood was not really functional, just thrown on there. I thought the top was tight and the bottom large. I felt like a puff ball in this coat. Not only that but it was not warm enough for the North East Winter. I normally buy North Face, Columbia, or Lands End, but figured I would try as the reviews were all nice. But sorry, this girl needs warm and functional, neither of which is this coat for us Northerners. Even if it was warm enough, it looked like I was wearing a down comforter, not flattering. I'm 5'1, DD on top and the large fit comfy, just frumpy.

I really wanted to love this coat. It's even cuter in person. I got the XS and the fit was perfect and fitted. But, my major complaint is that it's extremely thin. I almost wonder if they forgot to put the down feathers in the coat before they sewed it up. That's how thin it is. I have a 600 fill coat from Land's End that's designed to keep you warm to -40. I bought this coat because that one was just below the waist and I wanted one that was just as warm but even longer, plus I just love white coats. I took it outside in 45 degree weather with the wind lightly blowing and was a little cold. I just don't trust it to hold up to actual winter temperatures, which here are anywhere from low 40's to single digits, and below zero if we get a freakishly cold winter like we did last year. So, unfortunately, this one goes back. Could be I just got a dud, but oh well.
