Unfortunately, the left-boot zipper would not budge, so I had to return to Zappos and buy else-wear since they no longer had my size in stock. I decided to come back and leave a review to help others decide. The boot is lovely and well-designed—nice butter-like leather, yet durable. I wear a size 11 medium width, and my calf is right at 18 inches. I have about an inch room in the broadest part of the booth opening, which is great for jean wearing. Pros: if you are looking for a for-real wide-calf quality boot, this is it. Cons: it is true what other reviews have said about the shoe part of the boot; it runs narrow. Not sure why Sam Edelman would design such a wide-calf booth and have the shoe part run narrow. Since I am a true medium, I knew they would stretch and be comfortable after a few wears, which they now are. However, if you teeter on a larger than medium width, the boot may not work for you.

I have WIDE calves, I’d say 17”-18” with leggings or jeans. These wide calf boots fit very well. You’d probably love it if your calves were 16” & up. I do NOT have Wide feet & I’ve *never needed to order wide WIDTH boots. My feet aren’t narrow, I’d say average & not necessarily wide. I originally ordered the wide calf, “normal” width, which were comfortable but probably had a time limit on how long I could wear them & I could not fit a warm sock, as I would for winter. Therefore, I returned the “normal” width & went for Wide width AND wide calf. I’m so happy I made that choice. These are the most stylish & comfortable wide width boots & I’m excited to wear them this winter. Since Zappos is so easy to work with, I’d recommend ordering one pair wide width, one pair not & compare. You’ll love these boots.

CLASSY boot! You will not be disappointed with this boot! I have searched for a well-made, well-fitting riding boot for quite some time, as I have a slightly wide foot, am 5'1", and have athletic calves. I tend to own my shoes and boots for many years, and thus prefer to purchase those that won't fall apart. This boot exceeds my expectations! The leather is smooth (as opposed to pebbled), it has minimal embellishments and because of this, I feel it will be quite versatile. There are two embellished, etched brass snaps on each boot. The width of the foot bed is just right, and the shaft height is just right. For petite shoppers such as myself, the wide part of one's calf hits a lot lower, and you need to factor this in when you shop. I have a borderline wide calf (16 in), however I read several online articles suggesting to add an inch to your calf circumference if you are below 5'4", so this makes my calves around 17 in. Another plus: There is a very small gore panel on the inner calf, and although this was not essential to my fit, I did appreciate that the designer did their best to HIDE the gore panel, as it is my opinion that large gore panels detract from boot styling, and I was searching for a boot that did not display the gore panel prominently. The sole is flexible. The shoe did not require any "breaking in," and felt comfy immediately. It did take me a few minutes to get the hang of the back zipper, but it wasn't a big deal. I tried on several brands, and liked this the best. They fit so well, I purchased a second color.... :)

After ordering over 4 different pairs of boots from Macy's and none of them coming close to fitting, I came to Zappos and finally found a pair of boots to fit my 17" calves. I typically wear a size 9.5 M with wide calf, but after reading the very helpful and detailed reviews on these boots, I ordered a size 10 W with wide calf. They fit great and are very comfortable! I also like the zipper being located on the back of the boot. I am discovering that in general boots are running smaller and narrower. I had the same issue will Timberland recently.

Great high quality boots. In fact, I didn't realize I'd bought an exact replica of one I'd been wearing for 3 years. They have worn down really nicely. As everyone said, the shoe runs small. I went a full size up and was glad I did. I'm 5'10 and have big athletic legs. These worked for me, jeans & all.

Love these boots! I bought a brown pair and then liked them so much, I splurged on a black pair. I've worn both pairs several times already. They are really comfortable. I'm a teacher so that is really important for me. I have big calves -- steers is a better term -- and the boots fit great. Not too tight, but not super loose either. I normally wear a size 9M, but ordered a 9W and I'm glad I did. I think the 9M would be too snug especially w/socks.

These are incredible boots. I had already ordered two pairs of wide calf boots from Zappos but both were a little more snug than I'd like. I have an athletic build, lift weights, and have muscular calves so I have struggled with this issue. These arrived, I slipped them on, and...wow! They seem well made, fit wonderfully with room for jeggings/jeans, and are literally as comfortable as a tennis shoe. I am impressed and incredibly pleased! And I've been told they look pretty hot so there you go! ha ha :)

I give these positive reviews because this was the second pair I tried. The first pair was too small and especially too narrow when I bought what would be my normal size. Now that I purchase a 1/2 size larger and the side width, I am very happy. Thank goodness for the Zappos policy of easy returns etc.

I just got these boots and I love them! I am usually a size 8.5-9 so based on the reviews I ordered them in a size 9 Wide. They are perfect so I am glad I didn't get the regular width. If your feet are at all wide definitely order the wide. I am 5'7" and the boots fall just below my knees. I have 17" calves and these are the perfect width for me. They fit on top of leggings and skinny jeans well but aren't so wide that they look sloppy. The leather is super soft and comfortable. I wish I had enough money to get them in another color!

I have huge calves and when these boots first came I was so sad because thought I would have to send them back. I wore them around the house for several days, in case I decided to return them, and noticed that the calves had stretched out a little. After wearing them for several evenings I was able to stretch them out to comfortably fit my almost 18 inch calves. The leather is so soft, they are so comfortable, and I always get compliments when I wear them.

These boots are incredible. They look great. They are comfortable and very walkable. I ordered several other brands before finding these. I plan to order them in brown.

I like these boots. I get a lot of compliments when I wear them. When new they are a little snug on my feet but once broken in, they are comfortable. I have had them for a couple of years and have just ordered a new pair so I'm ready for when my current pair are ready to be tossed. I would prefer, however, to have an inside zipper rather than along the back. As well, my leggings all pill at the back of my calf from rubbing. It's odd because I can't seem to find anything the pants are snagging on. When I had boots from a different company, this never happened. In the long run though, I do like them.

I originally ordered these in my regular size, 9.0 wide, but had to return them for a 9.5 wide. The length of the 9.5 was fine, but these really aren't wide boots. The soles were no wider than a standard width. Disappointing, I had to return them.

Extremely wide calf. If you're in between wide calf and regular boots (15-16" circumference) these may be too wide for you. Beautiful boots though.

The leather was tinted at toes, one had more tint and some scuffed off tint marks, so they did not match and I sent back. Boots shafts were taller than many, which my one legs would’ve liked.
