I have a Cronin and a Bastion and they're both very nice and feel great. The fabric is durable and soft. Overall, I like the Cronin a little better because of the more flattering shape and the side pocket which makes me feel younger. Best bang for the buck for sure. I grew up using the classical chino pants (insert random mall brand here) and/or jeans, but Arcteryx's pants are what I really wanted. They just sit in between jeans and chinos and the price is actually quite good.

Extremely comfortable pair pants with a very nice straight-leg relaxed cut. They are very comfortable for a number of activities and even if not a technical piece of clothing, they can be used for climbing or easy hikes in warm weather conditions. Even if the gusseted crotch and articulated knees allow moving freely, I'd still like to see a small amount of elasten added to the excellent cotton-nylon blend for extra stretch and so that the pants keep their shape even if wet or after a couple of days of use. Hoping to see them in Admiral 2016. Overall I can highly recommend these pants.

These are my favorite pants because they are comfortable, very durable, and temperature regulated. I have used them while hiking, mountain biking, climbing, and around town. The fabric is really great because it is soft, durable, cool in the summer, but also warm in the southwest winters. I like them so much that I bought a second pair. You get what you pay for with these pants.

These pants are great. They are comfortable and stylish. They came a little big, but shrank a little once washed. They have quickly become my favorite pants. They will work for outdoors adventures and going out on the town.

These pants wear well, and fit me great. I have relatively large legs and there is sufficient room in the legs of the pants to provide good mobility for outdoor activities. I will continue to buy these pants as long as arcteryx makes them.

Ordered 28-30, the waist is a little large even at 28, but it's very comfortable. The articulated knees and gusseted crotch work really work for even climbing when making some high steps. I liked these enough to purchase them both in Graphite and Peat and both are simple and stylish.

I've been wearing Bastions for about four years. I work in emergency management and this is one of the rare pants that looks professional enough for business casual (and distinctly better than tactical/cargo pants) yet is durable enough to endure hard use and inclement weather. The fabric dries quickly and, so far, has been surprisingly stain-resistant. Also, the pockets are deep enough for concealed carry of a small handgun, if you're into that sort of thing. Alas, Arc'teryx's color choices have left something to be desired in recent years. The current Autobahn and Janus are acceptable but a basic khaki is sorely lacking, as is the gray-brown that was phased out at the same time. Designers - please bring these back so I don't have to find a substitute when my last khaki Bastions wear out.

Have torn three holes in gusseted crotch, don't when or how, as just took them out of storage to use for Spring. Would be interested if this is something the designers see often with Bastions or it looks more likely from damage caused by my use of them from squatting down to take photos (I'm not a climber). Splitting the groins hasn't happened with any of the other pairs of Arcteryx trousers I have or trousers from other brands, but did used to happen to me a lot with jeans after about 12 months of use. These lasted about 18 months. The relaxed fit of the Bastions is excellent and Arcteryx pants have the best fit of any brand I have found for my body type of small waist in relation to wide thighs and longish legs.

Really wanted to love these pants. Most Arcterx stuff is great - and well worth the premium. However the cut on the pants was odd. The thigh and seat area were unusually tight; to the point of being uncomfortable. So, rather than a new favorite, I get to return them and look for something else.

I would consider these one an average pair of pants for Arc'teryx standards. They look very nice, and the colours are great. There is nothing particularly wrong about these, but they don't seem to fill any niche not already filled by the Stratia. The fit is too baggy though!

Nice, stylish pants that are comfortable too. Unless I've lost some weight, they come a little bit bigger than the size suggests and they didn't shrink when washed.

I'm a fan of Arc'teryx products generally. This is the 2nd pair of these I have. I like the trimmer fit at the waist. Less sag. They are full though the leg, which is by design I guess. No skinny leg here. The material is good and comfortable. Suitable for work or pleasure. Acr'teryx sizing is odd. The 33s were really shorter than I like, the 35 longer so I had them hemmed for $12 at a local shop.

Love the material, love the feel, love the features of these pants. Relatively thin and breathable in the heat. Comfy hand. Unfortunately, there's seems to be 2 types of Arcteryx pants, those that fit great, and those that have a mysteriously constricted pelvic envelopment. These unfortunately fall in the latter category, so I had to size up to a 32 waist, which is slightly loose and I definitely need a belt. Other Arc' models like the Rampart and Gamma LT fit great in 30 (also their ski pants in small like the Stingray). But the Bastion, Palisades, Perimeters, and Stowe are all either too lose or too tight, not just right. Both of those groups contain both Relaxed and Athletic fit, so that doesn't explain it. (Rampart and Bastion are both Relaxed.) They are also slightly longer than the other pants, but this seems true to size. Pants like the Rampart fit me well in 32 inseam (Arc's regular pant length), even though my inseam is 30. These seem longer in 32, they drag in bare feet, which works in this casual pant. So in length they appear more accurate. Perhaps I have unusual proportions. Otherwise, they feel great.

I bought these in the USA and very shortly after moved to South India. In the Summer. Temperatures here reach in excess of 40 degrees Celsius. I have to say these pants are probably the most comfortable pants I have ever owned! I'm really particular on the kind of trousers I wear, and these justify the cost. They are comfortable in muggy hot environments. The fabric is thin and probably best suited to warmer climates. They are lightweight which is ideal for a day in the office or out and about in the field. They are spacious and fit comfortably. The length is generous and as with most American bought trousers I have to have them taken up and hemmed. I would recommend them for comfort in the field on a hot day.

As in pros and cons: tight crotch sitting. Needs stretch fabric or Texada needs waist/inseam choices.

I have been wearing these pants for years. I have three pairs and the crotch blows in the same way every time. I think my harness wears the delicate fabric and then it tears over time. My fianc made be buy a different brand because of it... Sad day But I ordered a different style and hope for better

Too short a rise in the front. Returning immediately (didn't get a chance to see how they soften in the wash), but the fabric appears to wrinkles easily and stays wrinkled (kind of like that lycra-cotton blend junk that was ubiquitous with women's clothing in the 90's.)

I've been wearing these pants for years. Just order three new pair. The new version of this pant fits very large in every way and now uses a lighter almost dress slack type fabric and the very nice detail of a felt lined inner waste band has been omitted as well. If you are coming to these pants with no expectations, they might be OK. Having owned and loved dozens of the past generation of this pant this new version disappoints on almost every level. I will be reordering a size down to see if the fit is more inline with the original sizing. If it is and I keep them I will follow up with another review. Maybe I'll grow to love the new version, or maybe the first Bastion will be like my first love - the high mark that all others have since been compared to. - Sad in Cascadia
