These are beautiful and soft. Very high quality. I tried these, the SmartWool 150 and the Icebreakers 175 base layer. The Hanro and Icebreakers fit was almost identical, SmartWool fit was not high-waisted enough and the way the waistband was stitched it cut into my hips in an unflattering way. The Icebreakers fit was slightly better than the Hanro although the Hanro pair was softer. I ordered M in all 3 that I tried and I'm 5'6" and around 120-125lbs. The fit is not skin tight like tights or leggings so if that's what you want, size down. Icebreakers were more affordable so I kept the them and actually ended up getting a second pair because they were on sale. If budget was not a consideration I may have kept the Hanros too as they were very comfy and well made.

The woolen silk leggings feel great. The quality is exceptional. The problem is they are comically over sized! The small I thought I was purchasing, which it is marked, is at the least a large! So much for wearing them under jeans and dress pants! Since I hadn't preplanned, as soon as they arrived I pulled the tags to wear them. So now they're not returnable and I have a great pair of over sized pajamas!

Great base layer. Much more comfortable than Helly Hansen mid rise base later leggings. (See HH review.) Thin enough to fit nicely under jeans or ski pants while warm and breathable. (I don't wear leggings as pants so can't comment on that option.)

At first these pants felt a little scratchy but after leaving them on for a few hours--under my leggings--they became very comfortable. There certainly is warmth in them and they are the right length, at least for me--5' 4.

If you’re below 5’5” like me then they will probably be a bit too long and bunch up in the legs. But I’m keeping them because I’ll be wearing them under loose fitting pants and most other wool leggings are too itchy. These aren’t itchy for me at all and I’m very sensitive to fabric textures. They are a thin layer which is perfect for everyday wear. These are high waisted so your tummy will be warm. I’m 5’3”, 130lbs and a small fits great other than being long.

I sized down in the Hanro pants as other reviewers suggested. I normally wear a Small, so ordered an XS. They fit great around the waist and hips, but were too short in the rise (felt like the crotch would always be tugging down). I am 5'7" and weigh 125. Perhaps if I were shorter the XS would have been fine.

Comfy & soft, these are perfect to wear alone around the house, or as a layer underneath to keep warm. They run large, so order a size lower.

This is a very well designed garment. The problem for me is that the material is slightly itchy and I could not tolerate wearing it for very long. I had to return the item. For those who can tolerate wool right next to the skin, it should be fine. The fit was excellent, as was the quality of the material.

Absolutely love these. Wear every day during New England winters. Finally realized I needed to invest in another pair so I always had a spare. My first pair is going strong for its 3rd season. Well worth the investment!

Does exactly what I needed: adds a warm, soft, non-bulky layer to keep me comfy during winter walks with my dog. Holds up well over time. I may invest in a 2nd pair because my other long underwear just isn't as useful.
