Because of the square toe and extremely roomy toe box, I went down a half size from 8.5 X-wide to 8 X-wide. Thank you Zappos for your user-friendly system that makes it easy for us to try on different sizes in the same style and return the ones that don't fit. This shoe gives good support . . . as good as others that are more expensive, though not as cushy as the athletic shoes with foam construction. Because of the square toe, the shoe can look sort of "boxy" in the wider sizes. I can't be too fussy with my wide feet. I have the shoe in gray with light blue trim, and I replaced the light blue shoe laces with white ones. I think the gray contrast with my dark denim jeans is rather snappy. :) I think the shoes look nice with my winter casuals as well as with my summer casuals. Also you should know that my 8.5 x-wide orthotics fit just fine in the size 8 x-wide shoe in this style.

I love my New Balance 877s. This is the third pair I have ordered and I am thankful they still make this style. I have long narrow feet and wear a 12 narrow which is very hard to find. On top of that I use orthotics in my shoes !! These shoes fit me perfectly with my inserts and give me good support. They are stylish and comfortable to wear all day. I have always had good results with the New Balance brand.

This comfortable walking shoe has a wide toe box, which is what I was looking for. At first I bought a wide width, but returned them for a medium and they work well for me--no more squished toes! They were comfortable right out of the box for me. I wish they were also available in a darker color.

I have two other pairs of this style and this size. They fit very well. I have not tried this particular pair on, yet.

I love this style, it's comfortable and the toe box is roomy.

I ordered 4 pairs of shoes, and this one is the most comfortable. I have many problems with my feet including plantar fasciitis, bunions, and flat feet that requires me to wear orthotics. I wear a double wide shoe due to my fallen arches and bunions, but my heels do not need the width. This makes it extremely difficult to get shoes that are comfortable. So far, so good. The only complaint is that the shoelaces are a bit too long, but no big deal.
