The shoe is narrow in the foot but wide in the heel. It is wearing a bad callous on my heel in an area I never get callouses.

I did not care for these shoes. I just retired a pair of Asics Gel-Kinsei and I loved them, so I wanted to give these a try based on the excellent reviews. They definitely have excellent padding, but it's so over the top that I had to tie them so tight just so my foot wouldn't slip on the back from moving up and down with all the padding. Then that was uncomfortable on the top of my foot because they were tied so tight. Also, I did not like their look. They had much more teal on them than it looked like in the picture, and I'm not a huge fan but I thought I could deal with it. Overall, disappointed. I'll be exchanging them.

I've worn this shoe for a while now for running between 18-27 miles per week. This was my 3rd pair. I found that the new version is at least half a size smaller than the old version. I even went into my local running shop to try them on and ended up walking out with one of the older versions because it fit completely differently than the newer version that I ordered from here (I tried on both the new and the old version at the shop). The Onyx/Beach Glass/Purple and Violet/Purple/Multi are new(er). The other two, white/black/hot pink and turquoise/sharp green/navy, are the older colors.

The cushioning in this running shoe is good, but in their attempt to make a roomy toe box, Asics has made the Gel-Cumulus 16 much too wide in the fore foot. Even with my heel locked in place, the front of my foot is able to shift left and right by more than half an inch-- and I don't have narrow feet. Also, the snazzy rainbow laces are too short and don't have enough length to double-knot the laces, especially if you use the top-most lacing hole.

I loved my Asics Gel-Nimbus 13's, so I was nervous about getting new running sneakers with enough cushion. I chose the Gel-Cumulus 16's because the color choices were better and it was described as offering the cushion and stability that I needed. The toe is more rounded than my previous Asics, there is plenty of cushion on the heel but I would have preferred more cushioning on the balls of my feet. I typically run around ten miles per week, this sneaker didn't need time to be broken in and I experienced mild knee discomfort but that went away after the first week. I assume it was my legs adjusting to the new sneakers, overall good sneaker and I'd still recommend Asics.

I bought this running shoe as a light-weight alternative to the leather Asics walking shoe. I'm no longer a runner, but needed a light weight shoe for walking a marathon. I'm just a little disappointed because I can feel no difference between the heavier leather walking shoe and this running shoe. I won't buy it again.

Great style. However, these "exclusive" shoes are no where near at cushioned as my other Gel-Cumulus. I was disappointed when they arrived.

Ugh! I am absolutely in love with my Asics Gel Cumulus 15s and have worn them out to the point that I needed to replace them. So naturally I went for the 16s. Terrible! These are not nearly as cushion-y and supportive as the 15s. They are much flatter and not comfortable at all. In the 15s I felt like I was running on a cloud...this feels like running on cardboard. I'm keeping them for gym and walking but definitely will not wear them for running. Keep the cushion of the 15s, Asics!

I've been wearing Asics for years and this is the most uncomfortable pair of Asics I've ever had. There just is not enough cushioning in the heel. They felt great when I first put them on. Then about 2 miles into my run, I felt the blisters forming on my heels. They are fine to wear around the house of for shorts trips to the store. But for long walks or runs, blisters form on my heels every time.

I usually buy the Gel Cumulus series; however, these ended up being a bit different. I tend to be a neutral to mild pronator and these changed to underponator to mild overpronator. Zappos completely understood and I was able to switch them out for the proper shoe. But just be aware of the changes!

I was looking for great colors in this sneaker so I chose the violet/purple/ multi combination. Unfortunately, the pink is not nearly as subdued as it shows online. It is a darkish neon pink! Not at all pleasing to my eye. As far as sizing goes, I am a size 9 and ordered a size 9.5 which fit my foot perfectly. As far as comfort goes, the tongue of this sneaker goes to far up my foot in the direction of my ankle obviously...so that when I walk I feel that tongue when I step forward...not comfortable or working for me personally. I love the look / style of the Asics Gel-Cumulus 16 minus the color and tongue issue.

I've been wearing Cumulus for years and I love them. However, the 16s ran smaller than the 15s which was disappointing as I might lose a toenail after running in them during my recent half marathon. Otherwise the support was great and I'll buy them again. I'll just make sure to wait before buying the next version to see if they also run small.

I found this shoe to be too tight - too narrow and too short. I was replacing two other pairs in same size which had fit fine straight out of the box. I do not know what size to get - wider width and/or half a size larger?

I loved the comfort of these sneakers and I wanted them to work for me so badly I almost kept poor-fitting shoes. They are that comfortable. When people say it is like walking on a cloud, they are not exaggerating. However, with the funky fitting issues I had with these shoes, I had to give them a low score. I usually wear a 9 and since others had said they run small, I ordered a 9½, which was too small. My big toe touched the end of the shoe. Okay, so I exchanged them for a 10 and the 10 was too large. Even after cinching up the laces, my heel was not snug and the shoe was now much too roomy. Sigh, so close.

I was really surprised that these sneakers were tight and too short. I have a pair of asics gels and ordered the same size but didn't work out.

I am returning the Gel Cumulus 16. First, they are too wide for my B width foot. Second, the shoe laces are too short to use the very top eyelet. I bought some longer laces just to see if the shoe would work for me, but the arch was the deciding factor -- it hurt my foot. And, third, the arch has too much support, or however you'd describe it -- it digs into my arch. I wore Gel Nimbus for years, until the last redesign that ironically, is too narrow for my foot, and the length is off. I wear an 11, ordered an 11.5 which was too short, but the 12 was too long. I think I'm going to have to try some other brand...or get some new feet.

Not like my Asics from 2 years ago. Tight. Cheap tongue. Shorter laces...two inches shorter. Ugly colors. Made in Indonesia. Two years ago made in China. Not happy at all. Returning them asap.

Returned these for a second time. Shoe ran 1/2 size to small. Toe box area is still too narrow even with a larger size.

This is nothing like the earlier versions of this shoe. It is stiff, rubbed against the front of my foot to the point of discomfort, and my feet went numb almost immediately upon running on a treadmill.

I ordered the Gel Cumulus 16's to replace the 15's that I loved. After one run, my right foot hurt so bad that I limped for 2 days. I figured the problem was that the sneakers ran a little small so I ordered the next size up since I have always had good luck with Asics. No luck this time. The next pair (half size up) hurt just as bad. I'm back to running in my 15's even with a blow out on the side. Marathon is 10 days away and I can't chance another bad pair of running shoes!

I have been an Asics wearer for over 10 years, the majority of them in the Gel-Cumulus model. I ordered this pair in March, and put less than 20 miles on them. The shoe laces are more than 8 shorter than previous Gel-Cumulus models (I have the old ones, and measured), making it almost impossible to tie your shoes. The insole does not fit flush into the bottom of the shoe, leaving a rough edge that rubbed a blister into the inner edge of my heels every time I wore them. I am bitterly disappointed because finding new running shoes is a miserable feat a bit like having to find a new bra! It's too late to send them back. I'll have to check out my local running stores to find a new brand. Ugh.

I purchased these shoes based on all the good reviews and because they were all black. I have been wearing the Mizuno Wave Rider for the past several years and was disappointed with the 17 (though I hear the 18 is better) so I thought that I would try something new. What a mistake! I have never been a big Asics fan and these sneakers definitely reminded me why. I ran six miles in them and will never use them as running sneakers again! They are too heavy and very stiff. The backs of the sneakers seem high. I am surprised that I did not have any blisters. The arches are terrible I felt like my arches were being continually punched with every step! (I have higher arches, too). The laces are so short that I can barely tie them. The outside of my knees started to bother me after five miles or so. That usually only happens when my shoes are worn or I am underpronating because the shoes are no good. I do not believe that these shoes are for underpronators like it says. I am sure that the punching feeling from the arches was forcing my on the outer edges of my feet. I have since been wearing Brooks Glycerin. They are much better! I plan on trying the Ghost and maybe the Mizuno Wave Rider again.

I think I have a defective pair - the tongue on the right shoe is always waaaaaaay off to the right. It's been bothering me for weeks, but it was too late to return the shoes (I'd worn them a few times) before I realized it wasn't just the way I laced them or a fluke. Super disappointing - this is usually my go-to shoe and my first time ordering them from Zappos.

I have always worn 7.5-8 size shoes and that is the size range for all of the shoes in my closet including my past pairs of Asics. This is the first time ever that a size 8 was way, way too small. My toes were crammed and pressing against the inside of the shoe. As such, it is impossible for me to comment on the other comfort features this shoe may have such as arch support, etc.
