Customer Reviews New Balance 990v3 Slip On

I've never provided feedback on purchases but Zappos deserves it for shipping 9 different shoes for me to try without one complaint or "change" of free shipping policy! I was looking for a replacement slip on running shoe for my comfy 10 yr old New Balance 420s. I have a high instep (not arch) and all of the slip on Merrell shoes were too flat and pressed on the top of my foot. The New Balance slip on shoes that were not leather uppers were comfy but had very little arch support and felt like the sole would quickly wear down. These shoes have an expansion area to accommodate a high instep and have very good arch support. They are more expensive than the non leather New Balance slip ons but worth the price. I liked the watermelon color too but ordered two different pairs and both felt too wide the gray was more true to size.

Love these shoes! I'm in my 50s and had been wearing Danskos to work (I'm a RN). My knee has been bothering me and it seem like I was wrenching my foot while walking and thought I needed a change. These are so comfortable, good arch support and have definitely had an impact on reducing knee pain!

Great find! Very comfortable and easy to walk in (not for exercise but around and about). I have very fussy feet and it's hard to find shoes. I had to put the Superfeet green insoles in (high arch) but most people probably wouldn't. They seem to run true to size but some people might think they are a little large because they slip on. I wear them with and without socks so I like the looseness (without socks).

Love these shoes! They're not workout shoes, but they're great for schlepping around the house and yard. Incredibly comfortable, especially when worn with New Balance workout socks. But they're comfy when worn barefoot too. I wear a 7.5 and they feel true to size, maybe a tad wide as some other reviewers have noted. I have spreading middle-age feet with lumps and bumps and the toe box accommodates those pain-free, even when worn with socks. Worth noting is that the top of the shoe has elastic so the shoe flops up and down a little when walking, which is what makes them inappropriate as workout shoes. Also, the nylon over the top of the big toe seems thin and I worry that a hole will wear through. I wish there was more leather over the toes. Those quibbles aside I love these shoes. They're expensive for schlep-around shoes but I think the comfort is worth the price. The watermelon is a fabulous spring color.

These are currently my favorite shoes. I have partial foot-drop so I an easy-on shoe that won't slip off. The watermelon color is a kick. I have a wide foot and these fit great. 2 cons: (1) they use a solid square of plastic inside the top of the shoe as an ID. It sticks to your foot when you get hot, then when you peel it off, it takes some skin with it. (2) they are hot to wear. Like 2 layers of Isotoner gloves. It's all that plastic. It needs ventilation holes and I'd love a built-in cotton lining. Yes, I want to buy another pair in another color.

This exact same number (990) in the regular New Balance line is my perfect sneaker, so I was excited to see this slip-on style. (I'm pregnant, and know lacing up is going to get really hard around month 8) However, the top/tongue area is very stiff and inflexible. I couldn't even squeeze my toes fully into the toe box before my (wide and thick) arch started to complain. I can't recommend this style for folks who need to be able to adjust the size over the top of their arches. (Still love the regular 990 and New Balance in general.)

These run wide. I sometimes wear medium and have had other styles from New Balance that were too narrow in medium. I will probably wear these with heavy socks. Note to New Balance: please be consistent!

I needed shoes that would give me the support of a tennis shoe and yest I could take them off easily. These shoes are great for my need. I do wish they laced up for I could adjust them to be even better.

Love these shoes! I have sweaty feet and prefer slides to keep my feet cooler? I can do almost anything in these that I can do in full sneakers. In contrast to my previous NB slides, these are light weight. They also have a high toe box so if your foot is a little wider (C), buy the M width. They are true-to-size. So happy I found these. These shoes were exactly what I was looking for---easy on/easy off when leaving the pool. Nice enough to wear with jeans and sooooo comfortable!!!

I just ordered my third pair, these are my everyday shoes. I have knee issues and I find that these give me better support than the Easy Spirit version that I had purchased before. These cost more but are worth the difference in cushion and support.

I love these shoes and so did lots others because I ordered the usual wide and found them very generous so needed to exchange for a medium width and now they are all sold out!!! So disappointed!!! Just what I wanted!

I have plantar fascia (sp?)and all shoes must fit right and have great support. These sneakers felt wonderful the first time I put them on and I may not even need to put my orthotics in them!

I needed a shoe for arthritic feet. A blog recommended the NB 990. They help my feet feel better. They are a little pricey but they do help me feel less pain.

These are so cheerful and fun to wear around the house, which was my main goal, I decided to pick up a couple more pairs. I bought the black to wear went out running errands casually. I had an unexpected visitor last week, so slipped on this pair before walking out the door! I walked through the entire Farmers Market, and shopping outdoors and felt I was walking on clouds all day. There was no breaking in, there was no problem, but great comfort and excellent support. I now have two pairs of watermelon and one black pair. Hopefully they will get more colors in my size. If you need a good support, and want the ultimate in comfort, I can recommend these unreservedly! If you have any knee issues, or physical disabilities, and want some good support whether in your house trying to do housework, or out with errands, or walking around the block, these shoes will take good care of you!

So comfortable I am using in the house. Run large. I got 12 w and could have used 11.5B. I got a pair for another family member as well.

Wanted a comfortable slip on shoe to wear around the house and in which to run casual errands. These shoes fit that bill. Took a half size smaller than my regular shoe size.

I'm always hesitant to buy shoes online. But with Zappos shipping policy, I decided to give it a try. These shoes are true to size and are very comfortable. I wear them all day. Plan to buy another pair in a different color.

I need support for my legs and back all the time, but I hate to be tying laces all the time just to work around the house. These shoes have very good standing support. The slip on style makes them feel a little big but they do run true to size. Full toe area for those who need more room. Bought the bright color to perk up my attitude during the dark months of the Western WA! Grey was pretty too.

I've owned a pair of these before and wore them into the ground. I replaced them now as I am dealing with an injury that requires open-backed shoes and wanted something that I could wear like a running shoe for dog walking and longer walks. New Balance does not disappoint! I tried the 8medium width and while the width seemed ok the narrower shoe put too much pressure on my high arch and against the top of my foot so I kept the 7 1/2 W instead. Great shoe!
