Fantastic value. Been searching for water proof backpack. While this is not considered waterproof, it is made of waxed fabric with closure at top via drawstring with cover over it. In rain it will work perfect to keep contents dry. Just don't submerge it in water, and you will be fine. Easy to open and easy to secure. Very well made. Has two deep side pockets that really aren't water resistant since they are open at top, but are fine for hachet or knives. Not practical for water bottles if pack is stuffed with gear. But you can hang bottles from straps, etc.

Beautiful! Functional! Lots of room! Can't say enough about this gorgeous thing. The security of how it closes, the high quality of the materials and workmanship, the amount of stuff that can go in it, it should last forever and only get better with age...you won't regret this purchase. Bought for my daughter for a trip to Europe and she is beyond happy. Worth every dollar. This pack is great for my work commute. I walk a lot and this carries everything I need for the day - my lunch, water bottle, change of shoes, with room to spare! Beautiful, durable construction and fantastic style - worth every penny!
