I have several other pairs of Birkenstocks in size 37N and ordered these in 37R assuming they'd be slightly wider but good in the length. Unfortunately they were too short! Surprising because I thought if anything they'd be too big. The leather was stiff but I think that's just the nature of the material out of the box and that they'd soften a little with a bit of wear. They are otherwise great quality and are aesthetically pleasing (if Birkenstocks are your thing). I purchased these and a pair of the Birkenstock Arizona Essentials EVA sandals at the same time thinking that between the two pairs the EVAs would be the shoe that wouldn't work for me. The EVAs turned out to be way more comfortable (and the correct length) straight out of the box!

These take a couple wears to break in. They rubbed in all the wrong places at first but I think they will break in nice and be my go to pair of Sandler this summer.

I bought these for my husband. He loves the Milanos and has been wearing them for years. However, he did not like the soft footbed. In my experience, the soft footbed compresses unevenly. Birkenstocks can last for years with care and resoling, but the soft footbed makes them unwearable after a year or two.

First, these are great sandals. The insoles had the perfect amount of give but also grip. The sandals are obviously well made. BUT I had to return them. My feet swell up a lot (me being older and overweight). I wanted a wide size but Birkenstock doesn't make them. If the side straps both had one or maybe two more notches the sandals may have fit around my feet.. Buying the next size up would not have worked as the insole would have been too long. I was sad to return them. I ended up with the SAS Bravo sandals which come in a wide size but are considerably more expensive.

Once I get the shoes on, I love the comfort. Breaking them in is going to be quick since the leather is much softer than the Birkenstock’s I wore 5 of 6 years ago. The softness makes the back strap stick to my socks and harder for me to slip in and out of the shoes.

my only problem was the back strap rubbed on my heel. I liked the brown color.

Got these for the wife as she prefers sandals with nothing between the toes and a back strap and she loves them! Would definitely recommend.

I tried on a pair of the black amalfi leather milano’s in Las Vegas. The leather was just too stiff for me to take a chance on buying them. The brown milano’s felt less stiff but they didn’t have my size. Once home, I got on Zappos and ordered the brown. I’m a fan of the soft footbed so I had to try the amalfi leather model. First, Zappos service was excellent as usual. The shoe leather is a beautiful brown, somewhat shiny color(it’s not patent leather). It’s an Arizona sandal with a back strap. The buckles are easy to use and adjust. I may need to add another hole in the back strap but haven’t yet. I think the brown amalfi version is less stiff then the black one I tried on in Vegas. I found the shoes easy to wear and didn’t need to ‘break in’ the leather due to stiffness. I’m happy with my purchase.

I love birks and have been looking for this style in my size for awhile. Other than the leather being a tab bit on the stiff side and the buckles being a little awkward, they are great. Despite these two thing, I would definitely purchase again!

I ordered these Birks in size 45 (US Men's 12-12.5). The size felt about right, but my foot sat diagonally in the sandal. That caused my 3 smaller toes to but up against the ridge of the cork footbed and my heal to occasionally land on top of the ridge in the back. Also, with my foot being diagonal in the shoe, the raised "toe bar" fell in the wrong spots -- right under the ball of my foot and under my big toe, which was painful. I had also ordered the regular (hard) footbed version of the same shoe and the pain was more pronounced. I thought perhaps a larger size would fit better, but the Birkenstock box top actually has a diagram you can use to measure your size. It showed I had the correct size. I haven't worn sandals since the 1970s (yeah, I'm old). Apparently my feet have a weird shape because I also tried a pair of Vionic slides and had the same "diagonal fit" with them. It's too bad because otherwise the Birks felt very comfortable with excellent arch support. I'm going to rate the Birks highly even though they didn't fit me well.

I am usually a medium width but ordered narrow as Birkenstocks tend to run wide. Having the extra strap for support is perfect. The leather is a little stiff at first...I was concerned but getting softer as they are breaking in.

The arch support is too far forward for my foot and hits me in the ball of my foot rather than my arch so it's a little uncomfortable each time I first put them on, but I do adjust. I need the strap behind the heel to keep them on my feet since my feet are extremely narrow. Therefore, based on the style, I had a choice of one. I like everything else about the sandal.

The faded khaki Milano is NOT the soft bed style as described in two separate product listings on Zappo’s site. I have returned both. As far as I can tell, the soft bed Milano is only available in black and brown. If the sandals were soft beds, I am sure they would rate five stars as I have bought many pairs in the past for my husband,

I don’t know what’s going on with Birkenstock these days but they are turning the best comfort shoes into a nightmare. I don’t know why they are making them so small and narrow these days. My foot still fits in length (barely) and with (barely) but the heel portion is so narrow I would swear they were a narrow instead of a regular width. I really wanted these with the blackstrap for my plantar fasciitis but I’m not sure they are going to work.

I have peripheral neuropathy, so I need a lot of help from shoes. This shoe was super disappointing. There is no give whatsoever, and the leather was stiff.I could feel it cutting into my skin through the sock I was wearing.

These do not appear to be, nor do they indicate “soft footbed” on the sandal or on the Birkenstock box.

The reason I gave 3 stars was because they weren’t in original box and tissue and they had been worn. I was giving them as a gift. So I returned them and reordered a new pair. If they come back that way again I will order from Birkenstock.

I love the soft footbed Birks, however, these vintage roast leather are NOT SOFT FOOTBED! They are regular ones. They dont feel soft, and they don't say they are soft on the footbed either.

I wanted to love these, but these are narrower than other Birks I’ve had. just were a bit uncomfortable on the outside sole because it was raised a tad bit too high and over-cradled my foot. I have medium width feet. Sad I had to return them!

As I sort of expected with the 1st wear on a short outing to the supermarket, I was injured by the shoe at the area of my right upper medial foot from the upper strap causing a skin blister with scant bleeding. I applied mole skin to the actual shoe strap, and ointment to my wound as an aid to prevent scaring. Then no wearing of the shoes for ~ 2-weeks to achieve proper wound healing. I can only hope the mole skin will do its job with my next wear.

I love these but the stiffness of the new leather just made them rub in some places. I know if I was patient they would break in but these days shoes have to fit right out of the box or they go back. I know my feet are the problem not the shoe because one side was great and the other not so much.
