After reading 5-star reviews about these shoes, I took the plunge and ordered a pair with size of 5.5. I am usually a 5.5, except for the Uggs (often 5), sandals (5) or boots & sneakers (can be 6). I tried on immediately after receiving them. They were okay. First impression: overpriced okay shoes. I wore them today in a medical office on my feet for 5 hours. Then, the problem rose about one hour into it. The toe box is small and pushes on the 5th toe, especially the left side (This could be my own issue. But I have bought many shoes without this issue, naming a few brands,i.e. Tods, Uggs, Hush Puppies, sometimes Ferragamo, Timberland.). This Mephisto style tried too hard to make it pretty in style with sacrifice in comfort. I ended up removing the Mephisto inserts and replacing them with only fur layers of the Ugg insoles (without foam part - I gently torn them apart). Now I am relatively comfortable. I don't have fat feet. They maybe a little wide. I know feet size have no correlation with the height & weight. Anyway, to give you an idea, I am 5 foot and 104 lb. These shoes are not that comfortable. Something is not right with the toe box, a little too narrow or too shallow. Another issue is the insoles. The surface is too slippery/smooth making the feet have a downward motion all the time lacking traction, though it is made of leather which is a good thing.

The shoe is nice looking but has little arch support and runs at least 1/3 size small. For the price it is not that comfortable. I returned it.

Just a follow-up to my previous review: I loved these shoes so much (I originally bought the Skye Blue Old Vintage color) that I bought another pair in the black. It was the same size, same style, different color. I assumed it was going to fit the same. However, the stitching on this second pair was extremely poor. It cut into my heels and the side of my foot. But thanks to Zappos amazing customer service, I am exchanging them for a different pair. So, the moral of the story is: make sure the stitching is nice and smooth, because otherwise you may suffer the consequences!

I have had plantar fasciitis off and on, over and over again since I tried to train for a marathon in my 20's. I do very well with hiking boots and orthotics - but struggle with finding a pair of shoes to wear to work. Some days I need to walk a lot and these have been an absolute lifesaver. I am so happy with these shoes. The style is "okay" - just slightly dowdy but I do not care, at all since I can walk and walk, without aggravating my feet. These are wonderful.

Beautiful shoes. The velcro is well hidden. Style is as pictured (I like it), and the sole is thick and comfy. But, a few drawbacks... They ran a little small, and lacked arch support. There is a tiny bit of support in the arch but I marked it "none" as it isn't enough to qualify as "moderate" in my opinion (can hardly feel it, doesn't fill in the whole arch, just a very small area). I think my feet are a bit unusual in how much arch support they need. I considered getting a larger size and ordering inserts (SuperFeet Carbon - love these), but for this price I think I can find something that works better for me. If it weren't for my arch support issue, I would probably love these shoes, and I think you should give them a try.

I have several pairs of Mephistos. All size 41, all made in Portugal. Then I ordered these (the bronze is stunning, by the way) in a size 38 mind you, due to the size chart. The 38 was too big, but worse yet it was exceedingly wide in the toe bed. They had to go back.

Love these shoes! Comfortable to wear through a long work day. And look great with skirts.

These are worth every penny. I have constant pain in my feet and rarely find shoes that are comfortable and attractive. These are both. What a relief to find these shoes.

These are comfortable and attractive I purchased these for a trip to Europe and wore them miles each day. When I broke my ankle a few months ago, I was able to use these as my first shoes after the boot came off because they were flexible enough to fit my slightly swollen ankle without showing it. These are great with pants and skirts with tights.

I could wear these shoes right out of the box; there was no "break in" period required. I work in a hospital and do a lot of walking. These are so comfortable!

These are my new favorite shoes! I got them for an event where I needed closed-toed shoes, but I never expected them to be as comfortable and stylish as they are. They're even more comfortable than the Mephisto Helen, which I never thought was even possible! I wear them with dresses, skirts and slacks, and I get compliments on them all the time.

When I developed plantar fasciitis thirteen years ago a friend, who at one time had the same condition, recommended I try Mephistos. I bought a pair and it was instant relief! They gave me the support I needed to relieve the strain and pain. I have bought nothing else since then except for a couple pairs of Naots that are also very good. I still have (and wear) the original pair. Mephisto has a reconditioning service, so, when the heels were getting run down, I sent them in. They were returned good as new. I buy on an average of one pair a year--different styles for different occasions. I have dressier flats, sandals, and walking shoes. I place the Odalys in this last category. (I don't like "sneakers" or "athletic shoes" -- they make my feet sweat). I plan to take this new pair on an upcoming trip to Greece on which I will do a lot of walking. I am confident they will work out as well as all the other Mephistos I have.

I love this shoe! It looks great with a skirt and feels wonderful. They do run small, so order up in size.

I live in a city and walk all the time - these are hands down the best (non-sneaker) flats I've ever owned. Comfortable, supportive & pretty stylish for a flat.

Very comfortable shoe! They don't, of course, look as dressy as a pump with a heel, but they're pretty close. The cost is high but foot comfort is becoming more important with each passing year.

I got these when I was in Paris and the strap broke on the closed-toe shoes I had brought with me. They were super comfortable right out of the box to go and walk 10+ miles in one day. I am used to the Naot cork insole and think it is more comfortable...but I was very happy with these - especially under the situation!

These shoes are both comfortable and stylish. That is something that can be hard to find when looking for shoes in which I can put my orthotics. I was very impressed by Zappos' service. Every place that I looked was out of this style. Zappos told me to leave my email address to be notified when they had another pair in. I did, got an email from Zappos, and had my shoes shortly after that! Thank you, Zappos!

It is interesting to read other takes on this shoe, especially when some are so different from my experience. I purchased these at a Comfort One store, not through Zappos. I should have waited and I might have gotten a coupon discount online (this style never seems to go on sale). As another reviewer noted, comfortable nice looking shoes are more important with each passing year. And these are super comfortable. DC is a walking town, and my heels were all quickly run down in the process of giving me bunions. The Odalys shoe is great with pants or a skirt and works well even in a conservative office environment. I am not normally a fan of Mary Jane styles, but the diagonal slant of the strap gives this shoe a little extra pizzazz that works equally well with a suit or jeans. While the shoe was the exact right width for my foot (one the wide side), I did find the toe box to be slightly narrower than expected, so I went up half a size and the shoe fit perfectly. The Velcro closure lets me adjust the tightness to fit exactly right. I also have feet that are flatter than pancakes, and I found the shoe to have surprisingly strong arch support. I do not feel my feet rolling in nearly as much. Plus, I do not experience the usual shoe gapping around the arch when I walk, both because of the arch support and the strap. Honestly, I would usually never consider spending this much money on a pair of shoes, but these are all around winners. I can wear them three seasons a year, in work or casual situations and they are so freaking comfortable when I walk to work and around/between offices (about five miles a day). I really do wear them enough to make them worth spending this much money. My only worry is that eventually the Velcro and rubber sole will wear out. I guess I will check the reconditioning service another reviewer mentioned.

The finish on this shoe is matte. It makes the shoe look rather grim. Also it still looks like a Mary Jane.

Although the shoes technically fit, I really could not get into the look of the strap across. I know about mj's, but these were just too clunky. And they did not have the comfort level of other Mephistos I have owned.
