Fanatasic coat! Quality materials and comfort. Good layer or on its own. Perfect for the west coast weather! Just enough insulation. Multi-sport.

It's my go-to for touring and as an outer layer for colder hikes with low chance of precipitation. It acts as a great barrier for wind and light precipitation, shedding both easily and retaining heat. The softshell helps prevent tears and feels more comfortable than the hardshells I have. I wish the pockets were weather sealed, but that's not the intention of the jacket. Overall, would recommend if you're looking for a shell to keep you warmer on colder days.

This new GAMMA MX HOODY is great! The Black Sapphire colour is nice and modern especially for our fall season. I just got this jacket a few days ago and I really like the way it fits so far. The new soft shell material feels better than previous models and wearing it on both sunny and rainy days really holds up nicely. As for the fit, it's roomy enough for a thicker sweater and warm enough for a t-shirt. The only thing I wish it adopted from other models of this price point is an inner and arm pocket as well. Lastly, this jacket is perfect for our local Vancouver fall weather and I am hoping they stock up soon so I can get another colour for the winter/spring!

This is the the perfect softshell for backcountry and city use. Arcteryx nailed it with the 2024 version of the Gamma MX Hoody. Ive been a long time user of the Gamma MX series. I usually wear XL, and the previous Gamma MX versions have always been a little light across the shoulders and around the waist, leaving no room for layering. The 2024 version is perfect. The use of logos is also reduced, only a stitched bird on the chest. I hope Arcteryx continues with this, less is more. Please add more colors. Would love to see Gamma MX in Tatsu.

Absolutely love this piece for cold winter hikes and as a versatile outer layer when in windy conditions. The pocket configuration is great and the face fabric is durable enough for abrasion when scrambling.

I am 63 with 44 chest and 34 waist. More athletic build and broader shoulders. Size XL is a perfect fit for me with perfect sleeve length. I have enough room for layering but the jacket is not too baggy. Cerium in L was too tight for me on the shoulders and XL was too baggy in the waist. Not a problem with this jacket. Very happy and great daily jacket for fall/spring. I do wish the logo had the arcteryx lettering but just my personal preference.

I do really like this piece. Though after reading other reviews I don't think it is quite as warm as others were saying. Went with XXL and I think it was the right choice for my build. 5'11" 230lbs athletic build. Middle may be a little loose but the chest and arms are right length and size for layering. Could be just on a windy day last week I didn't have the bottom cinched up so cold air was coming up from the bottom. 24 degrees today and I opted for the Cerium instead if that tells you anything. Great piece over all.

My girlfriend bought me this jacket and it's my first Arcteryx piece. This is by far the comfiest jacket I've ever worn. It's not really comfortable with long sleeves underneath so I think it's meant to be worn over just a T-shirt and it feels amazing that way. It's a little heavier than I expected but overall it's a great fall jacket. The fit is good, a bit short in the front and it has a slightly weird cut around the bottom but it still looks great when worn.

The workmanship is impeccable, with a fleece lining. The only drawback is that the sleeves are too long. I'm 175cm tall and weigh 74kg. Size L has the perfect width, but the sleeves are a bit long. Hope this helps!

Sizing seems to be all over the place. I'm a true and tried XL, if you want any layering capabilities at all, I'd suggest going a size up. XXL fits how my Gamma SL fits in an XL. Overall, love this hoody. Pretty minimal use cases here in the PNW as we get more rain than anything, but excellent piece to have as a stand alone, or something to layer.

The Gamma MX Hdy is an amazing softshell for nights with light/medium rain. I have not had to layer much with this garment, due to the soft, warm fleece lining. It really is my go-to jacket when I don't need a shell.

There's a major fla about the main pockets. Some zippers are designed so that you must pull the zipper slider to move them. But the main pocket zippers on the Gamma MX don't have this feature, so they gradually open more during use. This is a problem because these two main pockets have vertical zippers that go all the way down, making it very easy for things to fall out. Every time you put something in, you have to zip it all the way to the top, or else you'll worry about the zipper loosening and things falling out. Also, if you keep your hands in the pocket, the zipper will slide open in time too. On another note, the base color of the Forage / Verve is quite nice, but the logo is too bright and eye-catching

All good but armpit and shoulder are too tight, as others have mentioned. The fit need to be improved.

Overall, this is a fantastic hoody - great for cold-weather activities and daily commuting. The materials, construction, and overall fit are excellent. However, there's one significant issue: the fit around the armpits is uncomfortably tight. It pushes up and creates noticeable pressure and irritation, which becomes distracting over time. Feedback for the design team: This seems to be a recurring concern with the Gamma MX, as others have pointed it out as well. Slightly loosening the cut around the shoulders / armpits would make a big difference in comfort without compromising the performance or fit of the hoody. It shouldn't feel like it's constantly rubbing or pressing against that area.

Jacket is nice but since they changed their sizing the small is now smaller than I would prefer. Medium is too big.

The new sizing is the best! The softshell helps prevent tears and feels more comfortable than the hardshells. I would recommend if you're looking for a shell to keep you warmer on colder days. Looks good. Perfect fit. There are enought room for the under layer.

Really love the jacket! Flexible, breathable and breathtaking. Love the colour and the fit (long sleeves to your gloves). Would have: The jacket is windproof but would love to see it a bit more water resistant.

Great jacket definitely more of a 1.5 season item, I can only get away with this late Autumn (fall) in to winter and have to switch to my LT from about March. Very warm, very tough and uber practical. Can also get away with wearing it in the city over a shirt and tie for the commute or with casual pants! Very versatile. Highly recommended. Beware of the sizing Large is big and medium is snug

I unfortunately did not read the reviews before buying a new Gamma MX hoody. I had one I purchased 10 years ago in grey and decided I wanted it in Black instead. I should have realized something was up when I was able to sell my old jacket for nearly the same price as a new one. The new one does still look good and I get compliments on it, but it doesn't feel as easy to wear now that the cuffs are longer and the fit is bigger. It's especially noticeable with the front chin cuff. I used to wear my old one zipped all the way up all the time. But, with this jacket it's too high and baggy.
