I bought this jacket in January. I had read reviews on the jacket and thought it would be warm enough to wear with a long sleeved shirt on a cold winter day. It wasn't enough. I ended up needing a large coat to stay warm. However, a plus side to this product is that it serves as a great base layer while I have been skiing this season! I am typically a medium but order a large and I am glad I did because it didn't fit super tight and I have room to move in this product.

I must have a weird body shape. 5'9, 133 lbs, lean build. I usually lean towards a size small (in the Patera Parka, I take a small). I had initially tried a small 2018 Atom LT and that fit great in the arms (arm movement was phenomenal) but was obnoxiously short in torso length so I was excited to try the redesign, knowing it had fixed that issue. With the redesign, the new length is great; however the shoulders have become more restricted. I'm not sure if the pits were raised or the shoulder width changed but something is definitely different. I could not bend my arm without feeling a pull from the shoulder-to-elbow area. I also noticed the arms were a bit shorter on me. There was a significant pull where my watch is, as the cuff fell exactly there (in the 2018 model, this was not an issue, as the cuff fell over my watch). Knowing I'm on the taller side and at times go in between sizes, I decided to size up and tried on a medium. Again, great torso length and this time the shoulder-pull aspect and arm length issues were fixed. However, the medium was just FLOATING over my torso and appeared baggy. I could probably layer 2 thick fleece under it and still have room, which defeats my needs with this. I also noticed a lack of warmth thanks to the excess largeness around my torso, instead of it having a closer fit to seal in the warmth. As a whole, I wanted to love the new LT but I just don't think Atoms are for me. The old fit was too short and the new fit is definitely more boxy, so unfortunately just does not work with my body type. I am happy to report the medium size Proton FL fits perfect - and because it's the Proton, I have better ventilation with it. So if anyone else is stuck having issue with the new Atom fit, try the Proton if its use still matches your criteria!

I had always seen Arc'teryx as a brand for thirty somethings without kids or rich people in their fifties. After seeing their website I thought "huh, this looks pretty legit. I'll give it a go". I was not impressed. It's pretty warm and lightweight! But the wind still comes through a bit and it's pretty fragile. This is a good jacket for more urban environments rather than wild.

I wrote a previous review saying this was a good choice for petites - unfortunately that's no longer the case as Arcteryx have redesigned it to have a much longer fit in the body. A real shame as outdoor clothing choices for shorter women are so limited and Arcteryx offer many longer fit options already. I ended up panic-buying a couple more of the old version before it disappeared! It would still be a great choice for taller women though.

Yes the jacket is ultra light. It's also better for length than the older models, but like some users have said, it doesn't seem as trim. Areas kind of bunch up and don't look very clean. As for the functionality, I don't see the hype. It's not warm enough as a stand alone in any weather under 5 degrees, and anything over 5 degrees I just use my Zeta shell on its own to block wind. I guess if your only purpose is to use as a mid layer, it might help down to maybe -5 unless you're really being active. For these reasons, I much prefer the Atom AR. Stand alone to around -5 (maybe -10) comfortably, and then layer with a shell for every colder weather. Yes the AR is too hot when you get over zero, but you can use your shell or really any other much cheaper sweater in those conditions. Either way, at least all of the Atom's are finally longer. Please keep up this trend on the rest of your short jackets.

This is a flagship item and a classic. It performs well and gets a lot of use. However... I noticed that the 2020 updated version of this jacket has a lot of fabric pulling/puckering around the logo. It is very noticeable. This just seems incredibly cheap looking and low quality... not what I would expect from Arcteryx standards. I would image it has something to do with the thinness of the fabric or lack of backing? I hope this gets fixed in the future. Since this jacket comes with a hefty price tag I would expect a cleaner logo. I purchased a 2020 atom lt for my girlfriend as well and hers had the same issue. Photo attached.

I have had four of these jackets over the past 12 years and, generally, they have been great. The latest version is not so good. The design is narrower at the chest and cuts into my armpits. Also, the side panel material has been changed and seems less breathable. As a result, I now have sweaty, uncomfortable armpits. Also, lining the pockets is a strange material that feels like plastic. I am going to sell my Atom LTand look for a new favourite jacket.

This was a great jacket for the first year I had it. It is very versatile, light, and warmer than expected. However, after one year the reflective logo peeled away (not the end of the world) and now after two years it has lost it's loft. It's a great jacket. I was just hoping for more life out of something with a higher price point than competitors.

I was excited to see the new season colours and intrigued by the new design. The longer length will be welcomed by taller people, and the fleece side panels seem more robust than in the previous design. 'More relaxed fit' seems to be the trend this year, and this will be a matter of personal taste. Personally, I prefer the trimmer fit of the previous design - the feminine trim fit is one of the reasons I love Arcteryx so much. The looser fit makes the Atom feel less sporty and more ordinary, and for me it's not as flattering. But my big gripe with the new design is the tall collar - it is far taller than the previous Atom's, and I cannot zip all the way up without the collar digging into my chin. (I would add that I have a normal-long neck!). If other reviewers have a similar response, I hope Arcteryx will re-think this for the next season and bring back the shorter collar. This also applies to the Atom LT Jacket and the Atom LT Vest, both of which I also tried.

Overall a nice jacket but it is much too fragile. After 6 momths I alreafy got my first tear. I do not even use it outdoor but just around town. Now a year later there are several wear & tear spots. Very peculaor for an outdoor jacket. Even a midlayer. I would not buy this jacket again for this reason. And it could also be a bit longer.

I really do like this jacket. And I really wished I loved it. It has proven to be warm in NYC weather below the 30's with proper layering and holds up to the wind. Lightweight and versatile. This is not meant to be worn in wet conditions or wet snow. I found that the materials in this jacket were not durable at all! And this is for regular commuting on a day to day basis. The material did not hold up to regular backpack use. The threading started to come out at various locations throughout the jacket and the material started pilling on the back and the shoulders around where the backpack straps would be. This was pretty much within a year of regular use. I was super disappointed with this. For an outdoors type of jacket, this one didnt hold up at all.

Arcteryx Atom LT used to be my favorite jacket for years. It is lightweight, warm and versatile. I used it as mid-layer for hiking, biking and walking around town. However, I am disappointed by the latest models. Indeed, the face fabric starts to pill just after about a year. The pills are very easy to be seen at external chest region and around the internal chin region. See the attached photos. The jacket is manufactured 2018 according to the tag. I have another one manufactured in 2019, let's see what will happen after several months. I think I would not recommend the recent models.

I love this jacket. It looks super cute on and is super light weight but also very warm. My only complaints are the pockets (which are a kinda big issue). All of the other jackets I own have a chest pocket and I use it a lot. The lack of pockets in this jacket is unfortunate. There is no interior pockets and no chest pocket. The 2 pockets it does have are very shallow and my phone CONSTANTLY falls out.

Wear this jacket or always have it in my pack hiking or backpacking, however for the price I wasn't expecting the underarm area fabric to pill. I'm aware they changed the fabric underarm and side to prevent pilling as well but it's not working. Not happy with how much I paid and how little it lasted before pilling

Enjoyed the coat very much for 3 plus years primarily while walking my dog. I also own the vest and on both garments the zippers have failed. Already had it replaced once on the vest and now need to send both in for identical repair Very disappointed. After Arctyrex fixes these 2 I will wear them out and then replace them with something stronger or at least with a better zipper.

I bought the Atom LT on 9th of March, have worn it 2 times, have not washed it yet and the left sleeve started coming undone - the stiches where the elastic waist band is. This is quite unfortunate as I have spent a lot of money on the Atom. I did really enjoy the fit, feel and warmth and I would recommend it to everyone, however it is really unpleasant to have it falling apart for such an expensive garment...Now I am afraid I will not be able to use it and I have scheduled a couple of cold weather expeditions where I wanted to use it... one of which is climbing Grossglockner I hope Arc'Teryx stands up to it's name and does something...
