After trying several pairs of these Vibram Fivefinger shoes these were the ones that I settled on. I wanted to use them for running but realized very early on that my foot could not handle running with this severe lack of cushioning. These are however great to walk in in! With the extra rugged sole they are also great for hiking. I do not really like the back of the ankle thing though it kind of digs in. The ruggedization of the sole carries up to the toes which I have found cause my toes to catch on things and makes me trip some times. I also do not really like the tying system. I would prefer normal strings. I know I said a lot of bad things but these are ok shoes. I was just disappointed to find out that my feet are too weak and sensitive for barefoot running.

This was the first pair of Vibram Fivefingers I'd ever purchased, so it's always a little nerve-racking to size shoes you are unfamiliar with. I pretty much wear a women's size 8 (wide in athletic shoes) no matter the shoe or brand and typically wear a euro 39 in Birkenstocks and Dansko, so I went with a 39 in these and they fit perfectly according to the helpful fitment video. I did notice a seam on my left big toe that got annoying, and my heels got blisters until I started wearing injinji (original weight) toe socks and now I can wear these and be comfortable. My calves were definitely sore the first few times I wore these but I like that feeling; it means your muscles are getting stronger! These have worked great on my trail runs and have decent traction on dirt and sandy conditions. On pavement they feel a little like wearing cleats, so not the most comfortable. I'm loving the barefoot feel of these shoes, and with socks they're a winner!

I saw a man wearing these and he was kind enough to explain about the shoe. The pair he had on was three years old and very worn. It seems he walks miles and miles almost daily.
I was warned that it would take days and days of working each toe into it's own little room before you could just slip into the shoe. I so love these shoes that I told my husband if the house burned down I would be standing out front, barefoot, holding these shoes in one hand and the cat in the other.
I fought each toe into it's little place until I used a chopstick to just slide between each toe. Works like a charm and my aging fingers
no longer struggle with the task. The string is not too short if you flatten the heel down to the sole then slide the shoe on, put each little piggy into it's pocket, and pop the heel back up with the chopstick.
I once got a hot spot but It came from pulling the string too tight on one shoe. It just feels so good to have the shoe sole touch my high arch. I prance around the bedroom each morning, springing up on my toes with joy. Now I know to be reasonable about pulling too hard on the lace.
I was so sure that having both the sock and shoe material between each toe would bother me and I was so very wrong. The kind man said that it wouldn't and I am so glad that I listened to him.
I like how the lace never comes untied and sticks to the shoe instead of flopping around. I looked down and thought how all my other shoes have an old lady look that has aged me. These shoes are like the ones from a child's story where one lady just loved the shoes from the peddler. I have a skip to my step I did not know I had lost and I thank you for giving it back.
Just buy these shoes.

These are great trail running shoes. I've had a pair of KSO's that I've used for running on pavement for the past few years, but the thin soles left me with bruises from stones and roots once I recently started trail running. The Spyridon MR's have been much more protective. One word of caution - they do provide significantly less ground feedback than the KSO's. For hardcore barefoot runners, they may just feel like a sneaker. However, for someone moving from running on pavement to trail running or trying "barefoot" running for the first time these are a great option. Highly recommended for trail running.

This is my second pair of this model. Obviously I like it. Unlike some others it does have a minimal amount of traction and a slightly harder spot in the arch to protect your arch from sharp rocks.

The bomb! I've worn these on my nearby single track and climbed 14ers with these puppies on my feet. I have two pairs as does my wife. A bit more stiff than other VFF shoes, but a bit more substance is helpful when I jam my toes on a stump.

I love these shoes! This is my third pair, worn out two already. These have awesome traction compared to the first two. I first bought them to hike and workout but I live in these shoes. I have horrible problems with my feet but when I wear these my feet are still happy at the end of the day. My sister and my daughter are hooked too, both are on a second pair. My daughter works in a vet's office and wears them all day. My sister is a runner.

I usually fit size 39 but when I put these on the pinky toe on my left foot is basically being squashed, but all the other nine toes fit comfortably. I am not sure what to do because this might just be a quality control issue. I think that I am going to try and order another size 39 and 40 to see if it is just the minor differences that occur with mass production.

I received the Vibram Spyridon MR for women a few days ago, this is my third pair that I have tried to fit into. The first two pairs a size 38, and a size 37 were too big (even thou I'm a size 37 on three previous models the Bikila LS and the Entradas). Finally, I found the correct fit a size 36, put them on and I loved them. My foot fits right, nice and snug. However, the toes on my right foot are painfully rubbing against the top inseam inside the shoes. I don't know what to do, I don't know if I should return them, because I really love the shoes, but I know that as soon as I start running my toes are going to get blisters and most likely the inseam is going to break the skin. Debating whether I should return them for the size 37, because I want this model for trail running and I want my foot to be well secure.
Other than the rubbing the shoe is very nice and feels like the perfect shoe for trail running.

Thicker sole than usual...good for off-road terrain. A downside is the use of a rougher lining fabric than most of their products; not quite as comfortable. Only other objection is the presence of "Vibram" in bright yellow print 5 times on each shoe. A problem easily solved with a black marker pen.

Loved the fit but because of the seam at the back of the shoe it rubbed my ankle raw. Returning these and getting a pair with no visible seam at the back.

My feet are about 9 3/8" long and 3 1/2" wide. The length and width of the Spyridon MR are fine, but I had to use a shoehorn to get them on because of the super short laces. Even after I replaces the laces with 34" dress shoe laces, these VFFs are just a bit snug across the top of my foot. They have stretched, though. Another down side - they are very stiff and clunky. I've been wearing them while cutting the grass in hopes of breaking them in. Not nearly as comfortable as my KSO EVOs or other (now defunct) styles. For trail running, I'd stick to Vivobarefoot.

I am extremely disappointed in this product, no fault of Zappos, however. I had these shoes for a month and already they have worn down just about all the tread on the ball of the foot and has worn completely through in some spots. I contacted Vibram directly and was just asked where I purchased them from. After that radio silence nothing. I had one of the original pairs of KSOs that lasted almost ten years and was so pumped to get a new pair with more tread to use for hiking. Well no more I will not be buying vibram shoes any longer.

(1) The back of these shoes hurt my ankles even after a valiant trial of gels and padding foams. I had forgotten that I had returned them to Zappos for the same reason and mistakenly bought them again! Couldn't return them the 2nd time because I had already worn them outside. (2) Not as sturdy as the original Spyridon. Could not run on them, not even on a treadmill like I could with my first Spyridon.
I'd also recommend:
