These are great shoes, and my second pair of Danners. Personally, I enjoy shoes with a wide toe box, Stan Smiths by Adidas are my all time favorite shoe; but these ones may just give them a run for their money. My first pair of Danners were their Crater Rim hiking shoe, which I was a 9.5EE. When I received these I noticed a slightly larger amount of heal slip than I was used to in my Crater Rims, and being a resident of Portland, I promptly went down to the local Danner factory store and they told me that for most people the Tramline runs about a 1/2 size large, so instead of a 9.5EE I needed a 9EE. No problem, luckily Zappos is best and I chose a good company to find the perfect fit for a shoe that will last.

Everything on the internet says size down a half size, I didn't, but you should. There is a slight slip in the heel (which will probably go away with break in) and room to move my foot side to side. If that bothers you, size down a half size, probably. There is no sort of arch support, the boot actually seems to be made with very little support so that you can put in your own arch and cushion/ liner, which is what I did. I don't feel there is a huge break in period, minus the slight slip in the heel, which I expect with most boots at first. The boot is a bit heavier than common shoes, if you're used to wearing gym shoes it'll bother you at first, but if you're a boot wearer it won't be noticeable. Only the heel and tongue is leather lined, the rest is a cloth that might protect the foot and keep it dry. Maybe. I don't plan to use them actually hiking or doing great walking so I'm not your person to talk to, but after wearing them about ten times I can say they are probably best for every day wear and city walking. Has a low height about chukka height, but the colors are accurately reflected on the Danner and the Zappos website. I would never recommend this style to my friends, because they're unique looking and I want to keep that style for myself, but I would recommend Danner causal boots to friends and enemies.

Here's the thing, for 98% of the people whom will buy these boots they will think they are great. These are really good boots, but once you've had a pair of GREAT boots everything other pair of boots is just meh... They have a tendency to pinch in the tongue region and the inverted footbed is a bit wonky, I feel the look better than they perform.

Boots are great looking and after initial breaking period, very comfy.
I have them now for a year, and with moderate use the sole is wearing out much quicker then expected. If not that those would be great boots.
