Love these shorts! I have ordered six? Pairs so far. The only thing is sometimes the sizing is inconsistent. This pair fit smaller then my others, so I gave to my daughter. I almost sent them back but didn't want to pay for shipping. Overall this would not stop me from buying them because that has only happened once.

I desperately needed new shorts for outdoor activities, so I bought 3 different models of Columbia shorts to try. Happy to say I kept them all. These were my 2nd favorite of the three. I compared them to the PFG Backcast water short and the Bogata Bay stretch short. For reference, I'm 5'6" and weigh 185 with a pear-shaped body. I got size XL. All 3 pairs fit, although they are just barely big enough to wear without pulling across the pockets. Since I'm losing some weight, I didn't want to get a bigger size. Of the 3 pairs, this one felt just very slightly tighter. The fabric on the Sandy River is smooth and lightweight, but seems like it will be very durable. It has no stretch, which is the only reason it's my second fave after the Bogata Bay. The drawstring and pockets are welcome features, and I'll get tons of wear out of these shorts for walking, kayaking, gardening, and other outdoor activities.

Comfy fabric and fit. Loved them so much, I bought a second color. Will be perfect for enjoying walking and hiking, and sitting around the grandkids' wading pool. They dry super quickly and a nice, light-weight alternative to jean shorts. Appreciate the pocket!

I bought these in a different color and accidentally had them in dryer with heat and kinda ruined them. Basically the stitching shrunk so now the pockets bunch up. Got these to replace in a smaller size because they do run a bit large. But this size is a bit to small. I have other Colombia shorts with different design but same material and those ones fit perfectly.

I have had these shorts in a different size for years in many colors. I recently changed sizes and so ordered them in my new size, wondering if they would fit as well. They do! I cannot wait to order more in different colors.

Comfortable for land and water activities. True to size. Great length. I doubt that I'll swim in them but I do a lot of walking and yard-work and they are very comfortable when walking or bending. Perspiration dries easily. Wish there was a secure (even w just an overlapping flap) back pocket. Front pockets not suitable for storing a phone or keys while I'm out of the house as they will be bulky when bending or striding.

I really enjoy how light and comfortable these shorts are. They make me feel cool on even the hottest of days.

This water short is very comfortable to wear, it dries up quickly in your body. The only thing is the down side is ,it runs big but I'm glad it has a string to tighten it. I'm 133 lbs (Asian body) I'm between size small and medium, so it's not the factory's fault. I wish it has a lot of choices of sizes like regular and petite size when I bought this product.

These shorts are surprisingly tough for how light they are, and I love the lengths. I wear the 3" for hanging out or hitting the river, and the 5" for hiking because they don't ride up or cause chafing. Pockets are deep enough to make my phone feel secure while hiking, which I really appreciate. As far as sizing, they fit pretty similar to the Patagonia Baggies. I put on some extra covid weight (went from a 12/14 to a 16) and my normal size XL in these shorts ended up feeling tight so I sized up to an XXL and they are huge. They feel good but look super baggy. Once I drop a few pounds the XL's should be perfect again.
