I ordered this bag for my 19 year old daughter for her birthday. She had seen one that a friend of ours had and she fell in love with it. My daughter is a college sophomore and has to carry so much to school, it's great to have a purse that simply slips over your shoulder. The bag arrived sooner than I expected--just in time for her birthday party. She loved it and that made me happy! Thanks Zappos.

This bag is awesome! I bought it for my recent trip to Haiti. Inside I kept my passport, money, phone, etc., as well as a first aid kit to help people as needed. I found myself continually grabbing the first aid kit. It was right in my reach -- so easy. It does not tell you that this is okay, but when I got home, it was filthy from all the work we had done. I washed it in the washing machine and let it air dry. It looks good as new. Only drawback, the cell phone holder on the strap is a joke. No phone I have is small enough to fit in there!

Kavu Rope Bag - I got this bag in white, I wish Zappos had a black one in stock or maybe a blue one, since I'm not normally a white bag person, but the bag isn't too bright, it is a nice white. I like the two pockets on the side and I also like the easy access pockets, one for my phone and chapstick, the other one for hand wipes or Purell, which you really need now a days in reach! The bag fits nice and feels good on the back. The only complaint I have is that the strap that I tighten, has no place for the extra strap to go. I hope I didn't get one that someone returned that broke; I'm sure Zappos would have caught something like that. Other than that piece hanging down on the bag, I really like it. If Zappos gets a black one, maybe I'll get that one, too! It isn't too big, nor too small. Perfect for my purse for outings. I'm looking forward to taking it to the Big E as my purse; I want to be hands free when I shop!

This bag is SO rad!!! I absolutely LOVE it! I have the sea blue color. The two, spacious compartments are so practical. The designated area for your keys and phone on the exterior are so convenient; I can grab my phone in a snap! I'm a climber/kayaker/rafter/hiker, so I needed a durable, convenient bag. This bag definitely sufficed! Totally recommend it! Great job Kavu!!!

Big Hit - My niece was very excited and proud of her rope bag. No one in town had them and she was surprised when she opened it.

Great little bag. I picked it up for a Euro trip, struggled with packing everything into it ( water bottle, light layer, camera, wallet). It had a great secret pocket for emergency money and passport. I have used it a good amount since being back and it is a great bag for a bike ride. ** the color faded a lot being in the sun and now looks like a dirt brown.

First off, let's start with the front pockets. I've read several reviews that the front phone pocket is too small to fit most phones (iPhone/Android). Unless Kavu recently modified their bag's front phone pocket zipper, my iPhone 6S fit perfectly into the phone pocket. The zipper opens wide enough to do so. Overall, I expected the bag to be a little bit bigger; nonetheless, it is a perfect everyday bag to carry around. It's unique, refreshing, & a well-made bag. I'd read that the rope part will unravel over time, so I'll update this review after 3-12 months of use. Also, I'd like to add that this bag is definitely not just for gals. Depending on your style & color preference, it can be proudly carried by guys & gals. I'm a "dude," and I personally love the navy & coastal mix style. The colors & styles are vibrant, modern, & youthful. Using the strap, you can easily adjust the bag to have it snugly fit close to your bod. A few suggestions: (1) would be nice to have small pocket to hold pens inside the main inside compartment (2) instead of the Velcro, the top front pocket should of been a zipper like the bottom pocket. The flap sticks out, & I'd imagine it could curl upwards after wash (3) maybe for future mod, a phone pocket/pouch could be added on the rope strap so phone can be easily accessible. (4) I wish they had the same style/color choices for the rope "bag" & for the rope "sling." Otherwise, a nice bag indeed.

Great for travel or for days when you're doing a lot of walking. It has comfortable padding for your back. You do have to take it off in order to reach most of your items, though. (phone) The strap is adjustable, but it's very long and I'm not sure what to do with the part that hangs down.

Almost perfect bag. Fits snugly when packed, attractive color, love the rope strap strong and spaces between lend it hanging when retrieving contents. Overall very happy with this sling bag. It is very difficult to find a good sling bag and the Kavu rope bag fits the bill.

This bag is made of sturdy canvas fabric and has a wide shoulder strap that can support it's weight. I like the bag and carry it everyday, I would just change a couple of things on design. The 2 front pockets barely hold anything. A iPhone in a Otterbox will not fit into either pocket. There is only 1 zipper pocket inside the bag, so everything falls to the bottom of purse into two long compartments that run down each side. For traveling purposes and safety issues: the strap has a plastic clip where the bag could be released from behind and snatched off you. Traveling abroad this could be a problem? I really wanted to love this bag! I like the look and feel of it, I just think it could be designed a whole lot better.

I've had this bag for a week and so far I am very pleased. I use it as a purse, basically, to hold cell phone, wallet, keys, sunglasses, a small book, bottled water, etc. It's not meant to hold more than a standard purse or small satchel would. Also, my phone fits perfectly in the top outside pocket, and I use the other one for keys or lip gloss -- so no complaints here. If you're looking for a comfy, well-designed and hands-free bag for city, hiking, or just running around, this is perfect. I ordered mine in the caramel color, which I see is no longer available; that's too bad, because more color options would be awesome.

I chose this bag to take on vacation to Alaska. It is handy because it is compact, and lightweight. I could fit my iPad in the larger side. I like the two sided feature. The strap was convenient. My biggest complaint is the external pockets are fairly useless. That was frustrating.

I ordered the taupe and it's a beautiful bag, feels great on, but it just will not work for me as my Galaxy S5 does not fit in the holder on the strap. The only other reasonable place it could go is a zippered pocket inside and getting to my phone whenever I need it (which is often) would be a big pain. I also didn't like the lack of pockets inside the bag -- no pen holders, etc. And it really isn't big enough for what I need. I could pack my wallet, sunglasses, book, a few diapers and wipes and maybe a sippy cup, but that's about it. Again, it's a beautiful bag and I really wanted it to work, but it's a little more spartan than I need. If you travel light and don't have a toddler, this would be perfect. Would be great for day hiking.

I didn't realize how large it would be on my back. I'd like an option for one about half the size, with more outside zippered sections to rest against ones back for more security. The cell phone pocket is too small for the many phones.

I have heard these bags were amazing and I even borrowed my friend's. The only problem is it is hard and time consuming to find a color that you like. They have the same colors over and over and I just can't seem to find the one that works for me. I chose Overall for 3: This is because I can't find my color. I chose Comfort for 5: It carries a ton and it is super comfy! I chose Style for 5: It is the new trend! Overall, the Kavu Rope Bag I have now is awesome until I get my new one!

So close! This bag is close to perfect except one huge flaw - it is not for heavy use. I've had mine for only a few days, and I can already see the rope starting to unravel. It's a shame, because if Kavu could fix this, it would be beyond a doubt the perfect bag. It's comfortable, stylish, unique, and has oodles of space. It also stays on very well, which is a blessing for those of us with small shoulders or who need our hands free for wrangling small children (or pets). Please, Kavu, remake this bag with better ropes (and while you're at it, add maybe two more inner pockets and bigger outer pockets). Pretty please? If you do, I'll happily pay $10+ more a bag and buy 3, because I've yet to find a bag that fits so well and holds so much while looking so neat (and I've been looking for years). It was so close to awesome, I'm nearly in tears while packing mine up to return to Zappos.

Bought this for college but it's too flat and small. Will return it. Obviously this is designed for female (or skinny guys).

What I like about the bag is that it goes over the shoulder to leave hands free. It is roomy; I can take my wallet and fit my somewhat large camera in it so I don't have to lug an extra bag with me. What I don't like is that the 2 outer pockets are way too small for cell phone or much of anything else.

This is a great bag, don't get me wrong, but after only a couple of months of use the rope part of the bag is coming apart. It looks really bad. I don't think it takes away the strength of the bag, but it just looks really bad. I contacted Kavu about it and told them about the issue. They were really cool about it. Unfortunately, because I've used the bag, I can't send it back to Zappos or even attempt to send it to Kavu. I'll have to put this one in the back of the closet or send it off to Goodwill. Loved using it while traveling to Hawaii and also as a pseudo-diaper bag.

Man, I did NOT like this bag. Not enough storage and hate it can only go over one shoulder (not ambidextrous). Love, Zappos!

I think I may be the only one who doesn't love this bag:-(. I bought it based on the rave reviews and have used it for a couple years now, mostly because of the sunken cost. But it just isn't working for anything! I've tried it for work--can't fit a laptop or even a tablet comfortably in it. For the gym--there's no real compartment for an H20 bottle so it just keeps sticking me in the back. For biking--ugggh, all it does is slide around!! For walking--every time I get a call I have to dig my phone out of the bag because there's no pouch on the strap for the phone. For plane trips--it is the biggest pain ITA to get anything in or out of the weird little compartments, and nothing really makes sense. It's also pretty bulky so you have to carry it on--there's no collapsing this thing into checked luggage unless your bag is pretty big. And there's no carry handle, so you HAVE to wear the dang sweaty thing on your back--or awkwardly flip it to your front when you sit down. What else? It shows every speck of dirt and it's hardly water resistant. Also, it's just plain ugly! I got the black and white stripes, which are cool, but the zippers are an odd, not-coordinated color and the strap is brown/gold, plus the inside is Xmas green. Blech. I'm giving up and buying a Kanken so that I can stop "borrowing" my kid's!
