To me, finding the right shoes is akin to locating the Holy Grail. The older I get, the more I realize how dependent I am on these legs and feet, and taking care of them means having good, sturdy, supportive shoes. I've love Merrells for many years, including the Barefoot line. Then I recently sprained my right foot. The Barefoot Pace Gloves weren't supportive enough. I purchased the Grassbow Air in Gray, and they're beautiful. Today a teenager commented on how good they look on me -- not a bad compliment for a Grandma like me. The Grassbow give you great support, good, sturdy soles, and a solid shoe that breathes. I walk 3 dogs at once most days, and they can step on my feet in these, or they can lunge for the neighbor's cat -- no matter, my feet are happy, strong, well-supported, and firmly planted wearing these shoes. As others have commented, you may want to order a half-size down. I'm usually a 10, and the 9.5 fits me perfectly. I like these shoes so much that I've ordered a second pair.

Funky well structured shoes. Merrell's are well made and good arch support. Cannot wait till I am able to trek around in them outside as soon as the snow melts (Buffalo, NY).

Nice and light but did not fit the shape of my foot. Initially they felt great but as I wore them in the house my foot responded differently.

This is a great looking show and I really wanted to love it but it did not have enough arch support and when I changed out the insole then it was too tight.

I ordered 2 pairs of hiking shoes for a recent trip to Colorado. I ended up with this pair. Comfortable & worked for our trip...so glad I bought!

These were very comfortable and good quality but I found the design of the shoe to be a bit long--both in look and feel. I am a size 8/8.5 but would need to size down to 7.5 for these. So close to what I'm after but just kind of long and ungainly looking to me.

True fit, comfortable but not a soft cushion feel. Good for walking the dog through the woods.

This was comfortable and I wanted it to work. But it ran big, was a half inch bigger than other size 9s I ordered in same batch. And I didn't have time to exchange size before trip, so I went with a different brand/pair.

Shoe is ok but there's really no arch support.

Love the look and feel of this shoe. It runs large. I usually wear an 8 in most shoes and an 8 1/2 in sneakers. I ordered an 8 and it fit well, still plenty of room at end of toe. I definitely wouldn't have ordered smaller. I had to return this shoe because it had inadequate arch support. Otherwise it was very comfy.

This is a comfortable shoe with plenty of room. I did not order a size up. I wear a 10 in all shoe brands and a 10 fit perfectly. The shoe did not hug the sides of my foot as much as other sneakers. There is minimal arch support. The sole is heavy, comfortable, and good for walking. The shoe is heavier and I would not wear it for running. I also would not prefer it for Les Mills Body Body Combat – not light enough for kicking and quick movement. I wore one on my right foot and an Asics on my left and preferred the Asics – the Asics happened to be 1 year old with quite a bit of wear.

I like the style of this shoe, but had to return due to the back of my heels hurting when I ran or walked. Otherwise, they were very comfortable, and the soles were nice and grippy. As many have said, the run a 1/2 size large. I am 8, and the 7.5 fit perfectly.

I wanted to LOVE these. The grip is amazing even on wet rocks and leaves. After one hike with my dog I realized just how worn out my old Sirens were-The bad. My regular shoe size is a 6.5. My sneakers are always a 7. I know Merrell's run big so I bought a 6.5....still too big but I figured when I put in new insoles they would be fine-they aren't. It's too late for me to return them but I do think I'll buy a 6 and see if they fit better...

As a vegan, I'm very limited in the shoes that I choose to purchase, but these fit the bill! I love the bright color and the gray trim tones it down ever so slightly. As I have high arches, I will need to use orthotics in these, but so far they feel pretty good besides that.

Very study and light. Perfect shoe for walking. Not sure if it would provide enough support for serious hiking.

Not enough cush for pavement pounding and cobbles. A little flat-feeling inside. Well constructed and lighter than most trail shoes. Unfortunately, must return as my heels feel too low and they are rather hard. Not-too bulky looking for what it is. I wear a 9M in sneakers. 8.5 fit like a 9.

I really love these shoes, but I don't find them so comfortable for running (or not so fast jogging as I do). I love them for training, kickboxing, weights. They are great for walking, all day long, and they look great. I just don't find the cushioning comfortable for jogging; it's stiff and inflexible. Otherwise, I LOVE them.

I bought this shoe to use for everyday fitness routines, aerobics and walking. Sadly, I have a problem with pain in the ball of my foot and the padding in these sneakers isn't really thick enough for my needs.

These are great shoes! They have good support, are comfortable, and I love the color. They do run quite large, however; I needed to get a size smaller than usual, and they're still roomy.

Finally!!! I was looking for a cushioned and supportive walking shoe for a weekly 5 mile "city hike". Tried the 5-star New Balance and Merrell walking shoes. The insoles were surprisingly hard and unforgiving. I decided to try this running shoe. I am a size 9, but "always" have to order a 9.5 in New Balance and/or Merrell sport shoes. Not this time. The 9.5 was too large. The 9 is perfect. There looks like good tread on the soles however I found them just a bit slippery when walking on metal plates or very smooth pavement. It might have been the slight drizzle we had this morning. But, in general, my feet felt really pampered.

this shoe is beautiful. it runs rather large. the insole had little arch support. i could have gotten away with it, but just not meant for my foot i think. seemed comfortable though overall.

I usually buy a half size large in athletic shoes for comfort but had to change them to my exact size which fit perfectly. They are nice looking and comfortable except for the padding in the insole. My foot isn't cushioned enough. I guess I will have to buy a new insole for them-too bad such a small thing was overlooked in an otherwise nice shoe.

Merrill Grassbow Air W10.5 runs large and I don't like the look of seam that runs over toes. Arch support is located more on side of shoe instead of actually under arch. Also, gray/mint green color just doesn't go with jeans or khaki color shorts, pants or skirts. Wish Merrell would bring back light brown/tan/taupe colors and get away from all these grays! Going back :(

I found the Grassbow Air style runs larger (longer and wider) than other Merrell styles I have worn. I don't think going down a size will help me because I have a narrow to medium foot.this shoe has a wide toe bed which would be helpful for some with bunions, for example. Below I am given choices of choosing star ratings ranging from 1-5 for "overall," "comfort," and "style." Since the shoe doesn't fit, I can't give a dependable rating for "overall" and "for comfort." I feel there should be a "not applicable" option or at least an option to leave the star rating blank. Style and color are attractive in my opinion. Therefore, I can rate style highly.
