I measure closer to an 8 but usually order 8.5's because I have a wide foot (not big around but wide), and I bought this shoe in the 8.5 D. I noticed how narrow they looked as soon as I saw them in the box. Way too narrow and should not be marked by NB as a wide shoe.

I had bunion surgery so my foot was still swollen. I ordered these shoes thinking they might work as supportive shoes and allow for the one swollen foot. They are wonderful! I am so glad I ordered them and may get another pair. They are basically leather tennis shoes but I don't really care. I need comfort!

This is the first sporty shoe that I really like! New Balance finally came out with a "new balance" between jazzy and colorful design and old-lady solid black or white. It's the first time my narrow foot doesn't look clunky, either. I wore it immediately, and hope NB will continue in this direction. I put a 3/4 insert in both, but had no problem about the heels/sox slipping. I love them. Worth the price.

Multiple foot problems have required me to replace my entire shoe wardrobe. A new shoe that both fits and doesn't cause pain is rare and a treasure. New Balance WW980 is one of those treasures. Yes, it's a sport shoe, but somehow manages to accommodate my sore, widening feet without looking huge and clunky. What's really important is that these shoes are SO comfortable and provide excellent support as well. Most of the time now I'm taking 8 1/2 wide, and the WW980 in 8 1/2 D fist perfectly. Good shoe.

I LOVE these shoes. I walk a lot! They are so comfortable right out of the box. Good looking too. My only complaint is the shoe laces are so outstanding. I'm 76 and I don't need to look like a kid. I wish Zappos would offer some grey matching laces to replace these bright white ones.

Nice looking shoe, sporty and comfortable. I ordered 2 sizes, my normal size 8 and an 8 1/2 because reviews said the shoe runs small. It doesn't really run small, I think it's true to size. There is a seam at the toe and that's what my big toe rubs on as I walk, making it seem like the shoe is too short. The larger size was way too large so I kept the 8. I've gotten used to my toe hitting the seam and it doesn't bother me. I ordered the gray and I agree it is kind of a brownish gray.

Great looking shoe. Great fit. My only concerns are: The eyelets are just slits (or punched out holes) in the leather. Not sure how this will hold up in the long run. And (with a few weeks of wear) they are squeaking, which I'm hoping will go away once they are good and broken in.

Very nice looking shoe. I have very slim feet, size 11. It is tough to find a good looking shoe. It was pretty comfortable, but I was worried that there was not enough overall support, even with my orthotics. My feet are very low volume. Often the orthotic will take up the space, but unfortunately, not in this shoe.

Cute shoes, but agree they are narrow in the toe area. They are OK for average width, but not super comfy. They also slip on wet surfaces, so keep that in mind!

Looks good, but sadly I ordered this in a wide and the toe box was way too narrow. Always had luck with other NB wides fitting no problem.

Wanted something a little more stylish than sneakers for everyday wear. But these, although they looked good, just did not fit my wide forefoot and need for deep toebox. New Balance in their wisdom has stopped telling us the last they use for making shoes, so it's more difficult to choose what will fit. These have a fairly normal to shallow toe box and narrow noticeably toward the forefoot and are not good if your foot is a wide as mine. Fairly standard useless insole with sexy red color, NB replaceable insole did not fit, would have to be cut to fit front of shoe. Because forefoot is narrow, sole is narrow and I think may be less stable than some people may need. Great for style, but watch that fit. I ordered the grey, which is almost brownish in color.

Toe box is quite narrow. I wear a 9W, and my forefoot seems pretty cramped. Okay for casual wear.

I have plantar fasciitis which is extremely painful and I need nice cushioning in the heel pad yet don't want a big chunky athletic or orthopedic shoe. When I received the NB WW980 I was very pleased with the look and style. Have worn them around the house. Need no breaking in but am not sure if there is sufficient cushioning in the heel bed. Ordered a second pair in different color as the wide size was not too available. Will give the shoe a bit longer to see if orthotic insert will provide the extra cush I need. Very nice shoe except for the heel padding. Will comment later on final decision. Zappos customer service and return policy is fantastic.

I have arthritic feet and these are perfect for me. I ordered the darker gray originally and I would say it's more like a bronze or khaki, not really gray. Just ordered a second pair in black.

I bought this shoe for a walking trip in the Baltics. While I have not yet made that trip I have worn them a good deal. They are true to size and very comfortable without much breaking in.

This is a beautiful shoe and generally feels wonderful. But it runs large and, even going with a narrower width, slips in the heel.

I really like the color of ight gray. I usually wear white. They are comfortable and just what my Podiatrist ordered.

This was a Christmas gift for my wife. She felt that the length was about 1/2 size larger, but after she wore them inside for the afternoon she decided they were a good fit. Once again Zappos has delivered and New Balance is an excellent product.

First of all, I LOVED the style, was SO looking forward to receiving these shoes. I have thick, wide feet at 2E, 8.5. These shoes looked to be about a D. I confirmed the label said 2E. Also, the color listed is gray, the photo looks more brown. The truth lay in-between. Still satisfying. If these shoes had a suitable width, I'd be thrilled.

The shoe is pretty, but it is not nearly wide enough. The toe box is very narrow and tapers inward much moreso than other New Balance walking shoes.

These are beautiful shoes but they run very narrow. I wear an 8½WW (EE) and have been wearing New Balance walking shoes (sneakers) for years. This was really disappointing.

I had high hopes for these shoes. New Balance has finally caught on that there's a good market for well built leather shoes for casual use rather than active sports. Unfortunately, I wanted shoes with excellent cushioning and support and a much deeper toe box. These don't have either. But they look nice and come with the NB reputation.

The sole of my heel sits too low in the shoe, causing me to duck walk. The inside heel of the shoe needs to be built up. Too bad because it's a nice-looking shoe for its type.

I love New Balance and have ordered this brand many times in the past. When I first received these shoes, I was disappointed that the fit was not the same as other styles. It fit narrower, pinched my toes and it took awhile for the leather to give. It is more comfortable now, but not sure if I would purchase this style again. Support is not as good as in other NB styles either.

These shoes are comfortable but the white laces make them look like sneakers, not shoes. I have many pairs of NB sneakers which I love. I don't need another pair.
