I was impressed with the look of these boots right out of the box. I bought them in Expresso, and they are so rich looking, but also so well made. The leather is a wonderful quality, but feels soft like butter at the same time. The comfort of these boots is more like a bedroom slipper than a boot. Although a little pricey for me, I knew Donald Pliner would deliver excellent quality, and I am NOT disappointed! I am wearing them now for the first time, and I am wearing them with a corduroy skirt...so these look great with more than skinny jeans!

I fell in love with these boots online and ordered them on a whim. As a "real" professional equestrian I am excited that this look is so popular and this boot is a true equestrian look like paddock boots and half chaps which is what I wear in the barn at work all day. I was impressed with the quality of this boot and I know leather work and this suede is gorgeous! It is a real calf hugging fit (I have 15 inch calves). The foot bed is so soft and comfy! I LOVE these boots! I am trying to invent ways to wear them but sadly unless i start wearing my breeches out in town or buy more skinny jeans I really don't have much that goes with them. They look ridiculous with a skirt. If you have a closet full of tights and skinny jeans and love suede and these are for you!

This is a beautiful boot and very unique. I love the olive color and distressed markings of suede. I thought the boot may have been too trendy with the two zippers, however this is not the case. While stylish and fun, the boot is still a classic style. After returning 5 pair of Frye boots due to various fit issues, I found this boot to slip on easily and easy to zip up. I am 5'10" and wear a size 10. This boot sits just below my knee. I can zip the boot up easily with skinny jeans or heavier leggings.

The only thing I like about it getting cold is that it becomes boot season! The finish on these boots is similar to waxed black jeans. They are unique and even more gorgeous in person than on the site.

These boots are rugged and beautifully crafted. The suede is much thicker than I was expecting. These feel more like brushed leather than suede. I have DJ Pliner vintage suede dress boots that feel more like fabric suede, whereas these are more like rugged saddle leather. The suede is very high quality. I was worried they would be too wide on my calves, as I like sleek and tight fitting boots, but wide in the calf they definitely are not. They are very sleek and form fitting. In fact, I have very skinny calves and these are very snug on me. They are a little difficult to zip up with thin leggings inside, but I expect they will stretch a bit with wear. I am not a fan of how stiff the soles typically feel on most western boots, but these are unique in that they have a rugged sole, but it has some softness and give to it so they are not very loud when you walk and they have more flex in them. These are high quality boots that will not disappoint, but they do fit very snug in a way that I was not expecting. If you have thick calves you may have trouble with the fit. They feel more like a narrow width in the foot and the calf.

This is a BEAUTIFUL boot. It is made well and hugs my ankle and calf perfectly. It was too big though and I had to return it, but if you on the fence about whether to buy this boot. BUT IT!

I love these boots. I cornered a woman in a doctor's office, asking who made these boots. She said she'd never have anybody ask about an item of her clothing like this. I told her I never had! I wanted to become the person who wore these boots. Sadly, the 9.5 (my usual size) was too narrow, particularly in one foot. The 10s fit width-wise but not length-wise. I am torn about waiting to see if the boot breaks in, but for this level of expense, it needs to be a sure shot.

Gorgeous pair of boots. Classic high end casual equestrian look. Love them! Have coveted them for 2-3 years and finally sucked it up and shelled out the dough and I'm so psyched to have them on my feet. I was surprised to find that my usual size 8 felt a bit sloppy - one heel slipped, and the calves felt big. I sized down to 7.5 and while they are snug, they fit much better. Hoping they will break in and fit my feet like a glove.

I purchased these boots in peacock, but they are black with a few sparkles. I was hoping that the boots would be a dark blue or distressed blue/black. I ordered the boots for my daughter in 8M, but was surprised that they fit me fine and I wear an 8 1/2. They did feel a little narrow on me, but these boots are all leather inside and out and will stretch as you wear them. I also think that the heels on these boots should be a lighter color (ie. grey or taupe) so that the cute cut of the leather is more visible. I still think these are beautiful boots and of very good quality. I am considering keeping these for myself since I got them on sale and hope that Donald J Pliner will come out next year with a dark blue (NOT black) or distressed blue/black devi4 where you can actually see the blue color. Does Zappos send customer suggestions to the manufacturer? Please do!

These were super cute in pictures and I wanted them to work so badly. But they did not zip up on the right boot.

They look more beautiful in person than these pictures. These fit beautifully but the circumference was not 15 inches on a size 6. It measured 14 1/4 inches inside. The foot fit perfectly and so did the ankle.

I think I must be the only woman giving a so-so review. I ordered the 7.5 and 8. I usually take a 7.5. Neither fit comfortably. I found the boots to be very stiff, inflexible and constricting. Don't bother ordering if you have a high instep or large calves. The zippers were stiff and very hard to pull up and down. I actually had to use 2 hands on one zipper. Just too much effort to get these boots on and just not comfortable to wear. I expected a lot more for the price. The style is nice, for leggings and skinny jeans. They wouldn't work with a skirt. They're going back.

These boots were beautiful and the footbed was comfortable and true to size. Unfortunately, I had to return them because the calf was just too narrow and there was no way it was going to zip up over jeans. If Pliner ever comes out with a wide calf version, I'll buy them again in a second!

Be careful with this boot in the blue. It is not as pictured. It is black with a bit of sparkle dust over it. I purchased one and thought it was an order processing issue. I purchased a second and same thing.

I agree with another reviewer. I ordered these boots in peacock blue. They've arrived, and try as I might and can't tell what color these boots are. They appear . . . black, with a tiny bit of . . . sparkle? I've held them up against a blue background, black, navy, grey, natural light, sunlight, etc . . . they are blackish-greyish . . . I give up. They are, unfortunately, nothing close to the photo on Zappos. Not blue. Pretty boots, but proceed with caution regarding the color . . .

Higher heel than expected & not a winner under trousers. This is a seriously gorgeous boot. But it's so bulky that it doesn't look good under trousers (I was wearing regular leg cords.) It pulled the fabric up/out so much my pants look way too short. Also, the heel is higher than expected - in the pictures (and reality) much of it is hidden under the spat, so you don't realize how high a heel it is until you're wearing them. If you like higher heels, and you intend to wear these over super-skinny trousers or with a skirt, go for it. I'm returning these with a sigh in my heart. It was an honor just to be near them for awhile.

The boot is nice and it is obviously high quality materials but the fit is crazy off. I am a pretty standard 9 (very occasionally an 8.5) but even the 8 in these was too long. The instep and the calf on the 8 were tight (being leather I know these would prob stretch out eventually); however, the ankle was way loose. I'll just have to keep searching for that great green boot.

Love the look of the boot. A bit tight on calf. I wore these about 6-7 times MAYBE... Last season. However, the stitching that runs up shin split open. :( Too expensive for that! Disappointed but Zappos is great.

The leather on these boots was absolutely awful. It looked like someone branded the boots with ugly circles. Great style boot and super well made but could not handle how cheap the leather appeared.

It is very hard to find nice fashionable boots that fit my "athletic calves", and that are truly below the knee. I am only 5'4", but these boots did not come high enough on my legs. Trying to tuck in my jeans or even tights would have been impossible. I also expected suede, but the material they were made was a little weird, like it was shaved stiff suede. I have had my eye on these boots since last year (2012). Donald Pliner used to make their shoes in Italy, these however are made in China and the quality has suffered. I have the Melissa Frye boots black, but they are extremely casual, so I am looking for an alternative. Comfort: three stars only (it would not let me change it) Maybe for someone with shorter and less wide calves.

I was disappointed in the color of these boots. I already own the Devi in the black vintage suede, and could not wait to get the peacock blue. Well, it does not look much different than the black, but without the vintage suede style. It is very hard to see any sparkle. There is mo wow factor in these. I am so bummed!

I have ordered these boots three times now. The last time from Pliner. Again I have to return them. Why? Because the black leather is not glossy, rich, supple, black but rather it is a cheap looking almost matte black, you know the black leather than looks like it belongs on cheap boots? This review is in particular for the black version. I have bought other Pliner products which were okay but not this boot. Sad, it is exquisitely designed. What a shame that for this price they use shoddy quality materials. My Prada motorcycle boots and even Belstaff boots cost slightly more and are exquisite in every aspect.
