This is amazing, a super light running shoe that has Gore-Tex waterproofing. It took me a lot of visits to different stores to find a Gore-Tex shoe I could use for running in the rain. I live in Seattle and wet conditions are a daily issue. These shoes are also the lightest I've ever had.

Awesome winter shoe that is ideal for Central New York winter; i.e. single digit temp and double digit wind capped off with a few inches of snow. Will keep your toes warm and dry. Feels almost like a pair of Kayanos. Not really built for ice, but they do perform much better than regular running shoes on sudden icy patches.

Goretex shoes run smaller - go up half a size to allow for the Goretex material. We personally think Asics run a little narrow to begin with - so we go up half a size to allow for that. First pair purchased from Zappos - excellent, I got three months wear with extensive walking with job. The tops of shoes still looked like new after three months but the tread was slick. I wish that the tread would hold up a little longer. I was a big Asics fan to begin with - but these a must have for those who are working outside or running outside in the winter time - first of all, they are waterproof - and much warmer than the mesh summer shoes. My husband would wear them year round to avoid rain if we could afford to buy four pairs a year. I purchased the next two pairs off eBay - and saved a bit but the tread did not last long at all and the tops did not hold up either. They looked identical! But I have a feeling that the new shoes off eBay were fakes. That is why we are back to Zappos - they treated us right the first time. My husband was purchasing a 9½ 4E in New Balance. But he walks so much (about five miles a day) with this job that I go him to switch to running shoes - Asics. I tried to get him to buy the Gel-nimbus that I wear but he did not find them as comfortable for his feet. He now takes a size 11M in Asics and they fit really nicely - not too long or narrow. Why the huge size difference? I do not know - we went to the store and tried on shoes and that is what he wore in the Asics. I recommend a box store and try on sizes and styles to see which you like before ordering mail order.

First of all, I'm an Asics guy. They always fit me well. I have high arches, sensitive heels and back issues. I was looking for a little sturdier shoe than your average street running shoe and this trail shoe fit the bill. I'm not crazy about the black only choice, but it's a trail shoe, so it's practical. I always wear a half size larger than my street shoe.

First let me say that I really am a repeat Asics customer so this is not the first pair I've owned. This is the first with the Gore-tex liner however. Came as described very nice shoe that rannks right up there with all the rest of the line even those costing quite bit more and with the Gore-tex feature made this a real no brainer buy. They fit right out of the box and for once didn't come in some of the crazy colors Asics seems to be in love with lately making it a more versatile when being used outside of it's running shoe role. IMO possibly the best buy of the Asics line at this point since the Gore-tex drives everything I've bought with it comes at a premium up charge. As usual Zappos got them to me double quick their customer service dept really needs to take a bow compared to so many others I've had to deal with buying of the web.

I purchased the sneakers for my husband who was training for a half marathon. He was able to train and then run the marathon with them and he loved them!

Great shoe and very comfortable. I have big feet and it is hard to find a shoe that fits well and is easy to run in. I would definitely recommend this shoe to anyone.

Very comfortable, keeps my feet dry & it doesn't get too hot when using it in dry weather. Goretex lining does reduce interior space so order 1/2 size larger or the shoe might be too tight.

I love these shoes! I wear a full 13. Some reviews said they ran a little small so I ordered a 13.5 and could not be happier!

Love this shoe! It is super comfy. I'm a chick who bought these for basic training (they aren't flashy with bright colors) in the winter months and wanted something weather proof. That being said, this shoe breaths but its the most breathable so it does run a little warmer. So its a great winter shoe for that reason. I normally wear a women's asics size ten and these I got in 8.5 and It fits perfect! They feel light on my feet and have great support. Been running about 2 mi a day for a week in them and not a pain one! No shin splints or blisters. I read that some ppl feel the toe box is too narrow, but I'm used to wearing a wide shoe and changing over to these I didn't think the space was too cramped. These shoes have worked really well for me. I tend to only over pronate slighty and these shoes are beat for someone who has a neutral to medium over-pronation. I have yet to actually get them wet, but based on other reviews I read, they are 100% water proof unless you get water in from the top of the shoe. Again, love this shoe. It definitely serves its purpose!

I have been buying Asics brand running shoes off and on for over 40 years. Unfortunately I am much heavier than I once was so very few shoes are 'comfortable' anymore. I have experimented with a lot of other shoes that are supposed to be well cushioned, but for some reason I keep coming back to Asics. While as I say I'm not really comfortable in anything any more Asics comes closest to comfort, mechanics, & best durability for my weight. Biggest negative is the laces are much shorter and cheaper than they once were.
I'd also recommend:
Spira are well cushioned but don't last at all; Saucony are very comfortable but are not well cushioned

I really liked them. I ordered half a size larger than I usually wear and had to exchange that for a full size larger than I usually wear - they still do not fit, though. I have worn minimalist shoes for the past three years and feel that my feet may have spread a bit in the meantime. The toe box just felt way too small on these and my big toe rubbed the edge of the toe box.

I own the version without Gore-Tex as well, size 10.5. With the waterproof lining a half size bigger was perfect. The shoe is also a bit stiff so far but feels the same underfoot as the original. Pair this with some gators and you are good to go for winter runs and wet trails.

These will be waterproof for about a year before you start pulling seams apart. Then your feet will be wet after walking across morning dew on a grass field. If you only expect shoes to last that long, then this could work. Goretex is a good fabric; I think the seams are the issue. The shoe is soft and comfy, but not really meant for all-day wear.

This shoe is great when it actually fits right. Unfortunately They don't fit good all the time. I am a 10, and ordered my first pair about 3 months ago, and they were wonderful. I ordered my second pair about a week ago, they did not fit right and hurt my feet bad. They felt big. I ordered a 9.5, and this eve hurt more. I don't know what happen but the fit is totally different that the first ones I ordered. Water does get through the top.

I have ran with this model shoe for at least the last 5 years. I always got size 11 1/2 normal width. My foot was very comfortable in these past shoes and it felt like my foot was molded to the shoe. For some reason the new model seems much smaller and tighter. I will probably go to a different model on my next purchase.

I used to buy the Asics GT-2160 and 2170. I absolutely loved those shoes. They have been replaced by the GT-2000 series, which feels flimsy in comparison. I decided to buy these because I need comfortable, waterproof shoes. I wore them for one day and I have sore spots all over my big toes and and the balls of my feet. I think the Gore-tex is inflexible, or the toe box is smaller, or both. I have always perfectly fit a men's 10 and a half in Asics, and these really hurt my feet. Returned them this evening. I absolutely love Zappos' customer service. They exchanged them and are such nice folks. I have written to Asics asking them to bring back the 2160 and 2170's.
