I'm short (5'2") with large calves and wide feet. These boots zipped up easily and were very comfortable. Most boots constrict my calves enough that my feet fall asleep just from sitting normally but not these. I wore them 10hrs one day including walking several miles and I was completely comfortable at the end. The foot is very roomy and I could have maybe ordered a 1/2 size smaller (I always order 1/2 size bigger because normally the shoes are never actually very wide) but then again I'll be able to wear very thick socks in the winter to keep my feet warm which I normally can't do with my wide feet. Overall, I'm very pleased with the fit and think they look great. I bought them in black and the goring in the back is barely noticeable.

I am 5'10" with a 17" calf. I wanted to be able to wear socks so was looking for a half size larger than I usually wear. A 10.5. I wanted a truer polished leather, riding boot look and found some..... "I bet they'll stretch & be PERFECT!" Someday.... I have enough of those type of shoes. Of course these were the most expensive, and ALMOST what I was looking for. AND they WERE the tallest boots I tried on which is important since I'm 5-10. Just below my knee. After hemming and hawing for 3 weeks, I finally just wore them outside. All day. No hobbling at the end of 6 hours of walking and being on my feet. I wussed out and also bought the perfect LOOKING brown boots. (Another style, manufacturer.) A couple of hours and I'm done. I find myself always grabbing these. Yes, they're more expensive, but I actually wear these. And Rockport lasts (and lasts, and lasts). It's a classic style that will be around a long time.

My boots arrived earlier than anticipated & I quickly tried them on.I was headed out the door to an event & decided to wear them. The wide calf part is true! They zipped right up & I can see how they would have more give in the back as they are worn more. I walked a lot & the boots felt good. My right boot by the end of the night was rubbing my ankle - maybe a thicker pair of socks until they are broke in. Leather is soft. I'm 5'5" and the boots are tall & come right to my knee.

I should start by saying that I have ordered hundreds of pairs of "wide calf" boots and this is only the second pair that I've been able to zip up. Plus, I can fit my skinny jeans in them! They also aren't baggy around the ankle, which I hate. Secondly, I'm 5'10" and these boots come almost to my knee - also a rare find. Thirdly, they are very comfortable and waterproof (as evidenced by trumping thru NYC slush this weekend) and the sole has decent traction for crappy weather (see slush above). Highly recommend these!

I was disappointed in this boot. Strike 1, it did not fit comfortably over my skinny jeans, with my 16 1/2 inch calf. I thought it would due to the goring in the back and the fact that it is a 17 inch wide boot. Strike 2, the goring, which I thought was pretty ugly. I am a casual person, not a fasionista, but didn't like it at all. I guess it is in the back so only those walking behind would see. Stike 3, I wanted a boot that could be worn with jeans or a nicer skirt or dress, but comfortable and somewhat slip resistant. I did not feel these could be dressed up. The leather is very rugged. I was currently comparing these to Bandolino cadince, which are a bit dressier, same calf width, all leather side zip with no goring and these fit more comfortably around calf. Also could be dressed up or down. The good about these boots is the really comfortable foot bed, like a good sneaker and the waterproof aspect. If you can afford two pairs of boots, one for casual and have a smaller calf than 16 or so, I think they would be ok, if you can deal with the stretch all along the back. For me they are going back and I am eagerly awaiting the Naja wide calf riding boot to try.

Super boot, saves the day! This was a second choice for me, really had low expectations. Exceeded all of them... and beyond. I'm a hairstylist and makeup artist. A typical day is approximately 10 hours on me poor tootsies. These are one of the most comfortable boots I have ever worn. Fit nicely over jeans nice room with leggings... Look professional. It also rugged enough for walking. The look and texture of the leather are far better in person. The stretch panel in back is exactly, and I mean exactly the same color as the leather. Which is for me and my calf hyper self-consciousness really nice. Footbed is super comfortable too. Walking or standing. Haven't seen much of the water repellent stuff yet... Not a lot of rain since I received them. BTW, My calf is about 16inches I wear a size 9.

I love these boots! I feel like I have been on a perpetual search for a pair of boots that both look and feel great, and these are it. I have athletic calls but skinny ankles. I first ordered the size 9 (depending on the shoe sometimes I wear an 8.5 and sometimes a 9) and the boots were quite large in the ankles and foot. I was disappointed, but I decided to try the 8.5, and they are great. Still a little wider than I need in the foot, but a pair of heavy socks solves that. I love how the boot hits just below my knee in front (I am 5'6") and that they flare out just slightly at the top. The flare makes them more slimming on the leg. I can zip them easily over skinny jeans, and the elastic in the back is not very noticeable. So happy about these boots!

I was hesitant to buy these boots because I have purchased 3 other pairs & have returned due to the calf fit. I have a 16 inch calf and I am 5'3". I went ahead and purchased these after reading the reviews. Well I am so glad I did. Finally a boot that I can zip up with ease. The height is perfect too, just under my knees. I bought a 6.5 and probably could have bought a 6, but that was not a big deal for me, I'll just wear thicker socks. I like that they are water proof. Just got done wearing them in NYC on a trip. With all the snow & slush, my feet were warm and dry. I wore them all day walking around the city and my feet did not hurt at the end of the day, very comfortable. They do not have a shiny finish to them so I would not wear with my fancy dresses, but they are definitely casual, dressy casual & stylish!

I placed my order Tuesday afternoon and it arrived the next day -- I LOVE ZAPPOS!! Now, about the boots: I chose brown leather, size 9, medium (B) width. My feet are narrow. I wear a size 8 if the shoe is wide (C) width. This 9 (B) was a little loose in the heel, but otherwise a perfect fit. I'm 5'4" and the boots came just below my knee. My bare calves are a smidgen past 17", but with a little finagling, I was able to zip them up over my monstrous calf with skinny jeans tucked inside. Thank you, elastic gore -- which, I might add, the color matched the brown leather perfectly. Most importantly, these boots somehow magically made my calves appear slimmer, without cutting off my circulation. Nice! There was a little bagginess around the ankle, but I was thankful for the extra room so my jeans would fit inside. The boots are well made, but mine had a few minor blemishes in the leather -- maybe it adds character; it didn't detract from the appearance. These are casual boots, after all. I love the stability of the rubber outsole, as I will be wearing these on a sometimes slushy pavement, and not a carpeted office floor. The Rockport footbed provides some arch support and cushion; I thought it was quite comfortable. Still, I removed it and inserted my aetrex orthotics since I suffer from PF and need maximum support & cushion. Overall, I totally dig these boots.

Love these! I have not taken them off since they arrived. The perfect everyday fall boot for the Northeast! I am so pleased with them I am ordering a second pair in black!

I love my boots. In fact, I waited to write so I could try them out and see if they were comfortable. They are probably my most comfortable shoes and additionally, look very fashionable! Since I am only 5' 1 1/2" tall and have very large calves, I have never had tall boots. I got these in wide calf and they needed only heel pads for my narrow heels to fit perfectly. Since they are so tall and I am so short, I was concerned that they might make walking and bending my legs difficult. Not so because of the elastic insert and soft leather. It's a big bonus that they are also waterproof. I am very happy to have found these boots and to have had such great service from Zappos!

This is roughly the 20th pair of over the calf boots that I have purchased from Zappos over the years. This is the first pair that zipped up and felt size appropriate for larger calves while not looking cheap and tacky. They fit well, come right up to under my knee, and are super comfortable due to the Adidas technology. A victory all around.

I ordered these boots and Frye boots with heels and I have no idea which will go back as they are both fabulous. These boots are practical for our snowy climate as they have treads and are waterproof. However, these boots go a step above practicality. They are really stylish! The leather is really nice and while I am not really a fan of elastic gores, these are not overly noticeable. My large calfs (due to an accident) is 17" and these boots fit. I am 5'3½" and these boots do push up to my knees, but they still look good. The size 9 is a little loose, but will be fine.

I have worn several Rockport shoes styles. I do like the boot however, I don't think the wide-shaft designation is very accurate. I am a size 12 with athletic calves and the boots feel snug (not uncomfortable but certainly not 'wide shaft'). There is NO arch support or insulation which one would expect in winter boots. Additional inserts helped make these really comfortable and useable for winter weather.

I am 5'10" with an 18" calf. I was excited to find a wide shaft tall boot that looked to be very comfortable. I was willing to pay the cost for a boot that fit. These boots will not zip all the way unless I hold the sides together. But the elastic in the back is stretched to the point that it just doesn't look right. I am sad to say I am returning them. Why won't someone make a tall boot for someone with athletic calves!

I love these boots! I've tried on a LOT of boots (thanks, Zappos!) and these are just about perfect for me. Here's why: Pros: Very comfortable! Nice support, toebox is roomy enough, in a medium even for my fairly wide foot, and the stretch panel in the back means that you can wear them over jeans, or tights, or whatever, and get a nice custom fit without cutting off the circulation in your legs. If you hate the idea of the panel in the back (doesn't bother me - it's a perfect color match) then you may not want these. But I have muscular calves, 16 - 16 1/4, and I have plenty of room in these, without any gaping at the top. They are tall enough. I'm 5'8", and I don't like boots that hit me 4 or 5 inches below the knee - I want tall boots to be tall. It gives you a longer looking leg and slimmer silhouette. These are perfect for me. If you are shorter, or have short legs, these will probably be a bit too tall. They aren't too shiny and don't have a bunch of fussy buckles. Clean, simple lines. The leather has a matte finish which I prefer and a sort of pebbly texture; it's very nice, flexible leather. I tried on a pair of the "Rosettes" which were comfortable but were 2 inches shorter and very very shiny. Nice fit in the ankle. Kind of waterproof. I say kind of because the stretch panel in the back would let in some water, I think. Don't go wading through a creek in them. But for snow and rain, water just beads up. It's great. Cons: Expensive. Not much in the way of traction - which is fine if you're wearing them to work, etc. Not too good for hiking or trekking around in snow and ice, but that's why you get snow boots. Not the most high fashion boot for you city girls, but you wouldn't be caught dead in a flat heeled boot, anyway, right? Very well made, comfortable right out of the box, accurate sizing, pretty good looking, can dress up or go casual, waterproof. Expensive, but maybe worth it if it means you can finally stop looking for the perfect tall boots.

The boots are classy enough for church and stylish enough for sales. And durable enough for foreclosure hunting (homes). I bought brown too but from Amazon as they were much cheaper!

I absolutely love these! They are comfortable, stylish, and not too wide eve though they are wide calf. This is my only pair of wide calf boots - I have several Frye boots in normal calf. Try ordering your size rather than sizing up (like in Frye). I usually wear a 10 in boots but 9 in heels. A 9½ in these would have been perfect. I highly recommend these! I also love that the black leather isn't shiny. I do not like shiny black boots.

Beautiful boot, for a tall(er) lady. I wear a ladies' size 10 medium width. I ordered a 10 1/2 because I noticed the toe box looked a little narrow. They fit very well, except for the fact that the shaft wasn't going to accommodate my calf. I also thought the boot was a little too tall for me (I am 5'4"). I have a 17" calf, and I could barely zip the boot without jeans or a knee high sock on. These beautiful boots had to go back.

I'm 5'10", 185 lbs, with a 17" diameter calf, and I have high arches. I also use a standing desk at work and am on my feet for nearly the entire work day. Today is day two of wearing these boots, and so far, I am very satisfied with them so far because: - I was able to zip the boots up over skinny jeans and thick socks; it's snug, but not uncomfortably so. Plus, you'll want them a little snug as leather may stretch slightly with age. - The top of the boots hit about 2-2.5" below my knee (yes, I measured). - The elastic goring matches the color of the leather perfectly, so it is doesn't draw attention to itself. - I was on my feet all day yesterday (lots of walking and standing alike) and I had no blisters/soreness by the end of the day, nor this morning; I accredit that to the nice shape of the foot/sole (no pinched toes or heal), the arch support, and the shock-absorbing heal. - As a seamstress, I was pleased to see a lot of double stitching - think two lines of stitches close together running parallel to one another. You see a lot of double stitching running down the sides of jeans, for example. Double stitching is used to reinforce and strengthen an area where two pieces of fabric meet, and it's normally the first corner manufactures cut when making lower quality garments/apparel (as it uses twice the amount of time, and thread, to sew). - The leather arrived in good shape, i.e. not a lot of dings or scratches. - The zipper seams pretty sturdy, though the leather tag on the end that you grasp to zip them is a little thin so it may need to be replaced with something else down the road. That, however, is a very cheap/quick fix.

Received quickly as normal for Zappos. The boots seemed like they would be tight but they went on fine and zipped over jeans with no problem. I am about a 17.5 calf. I feel that I will wear these a lot this season.

So far, these are comfy boots! I'm a 17.5" calf, and they are snug. With skinny jeans tucked in, they seem to stretch a little to accommodate. My wider foot (which is getting wider with age) is a touch snug across the knuckles, but with a thin rayon/cotton sock, it doesn't seem to be rubbing. The sole makes a tapping noise on hard floor. The toe bend part is a little stiff, but again, not too uncomfortable. I tried 7 pairs of boots, and these are definitely the winner!

Love these boots! I added my own arch supports. I usually have problems with boots hurting my bunion, but these don't hurt. The boots are very comfortable and fit my 16 inch calf just fine. I can also wear them with my skinny jeans due to the elastic in the back of the boot shaft. This is a quality boot with nice stitching and a solid feel to them. I will be purchasing in the brown also.

After much research, I finally decided to go with these boots and I couldn't be happier! They are so cute and stylish, yet waterproof and sturdy. The rich brown color is to die for! The wide calf style is perfect for my 15.5" calves with skinny jeans and boot socks. They're fitted but not too tight thanks to the gore in the back. I went up a half size from what I'd normally wear and I'm glad I did because they fit snugly around the heel area. They are quite tall in the front (I'm 5'6) and they come to just below my knee, but they're lower in the back which makes them easier to move in. I'm so happy to have found such a cute waterproof boot which will be great for wearing through the rainy Alaska winter!

I love these boots. The 'wide calf' isn't very wide though. I'm going to try wearing them around to see if they loosen up a bit. I ordered 10 different brands and styles and these were by far my favorite pair!
