This is my second pair And I love them so much I purchased a pair for my dad to walk the dog in . I use these for hunting, hiking, fishing, landscaping, working around the house, working (plowing snow maintenance repairs etc, splitting wood, building, you name it. The outside still looks amazing, the treads stand up to anything and many many miles. I treat them every so often with mink oil and have never had a leak. They do come unlaced every so often but I usually don't notice because the laces stay tucked under my pants usually. But it does happen, I do prefer a not so snug upper though. I have had several pairs of boots and at first the price scared me but THEY ARE THE BEST boots I have ever worn and used. They are a little heavy at first but even when I hiked Ol Rag MNT in VA they worked flawlessly. I hope these boots never stop being made.

I am 3 months into wearing these shoes and have had a really positive experience with them. The construction is what really sets it apart from a lot of other boots in the prices range. First off, I think the black material that covers the toe on the outside really adds to the durability of these, as the toe takes a lot of abuse. The construction is kind of a hybrid, as the heel and the rest of the boot seem to be constructed different, which really adds to the durability in the heel. I usually get about 6 months out of boots due to the nature of the conditions I use them in, but 3 months in they still feel and look like new. If you are looking for a negative, I have found them a tad heavier than normal, if that's a factor for you.

I have had two pairs of these and both have fallen apart in less the six months and the waterproofing, aka ultradry, is a joke. Feet were wet within the first hour of use. Going back to the cheaper Wolverine shoes that are 1/3 the cost and last just as long. Did not buy them here but from Red Wing directly.

Fit and construction are excellent. Being leather, some break in is required - probably 4 - 8 hours of wear to shape the leather and achieve a high level of comfort. These are substantial boots, not the light fabric construction popular in hikers today. They are more akin to work boots, with more comfort than is typical. Arch support is good but not excessive.

I have worn this type of shoe my entire adult life. I have tried every brand and style that is made. I have hesitated spending this much money on one pair of shoes before but this is by far the best one I have ever owned. It is a little heavy perhaps, but very comfortable, keep my feet dry, and they look great. I wear them to work everyday whether I am plowing and shoveling snow or meeting with clients. Then I wear them out to eat. I normally wear low socks which didn't work with the high tongue but after one week of wearing high socks, the shoes were worn in and now I'm back to wearing my low socks again. Spend the money, these are worth it!

I bought these shoes before I made my cross country trip to Arizona from Maine. I have never had a more comfortable shoe out of the box or that a pair I would recommend to others. This IS the ultimate hiker in my humble opinion.

I punished these boots doing delivery work for over a year with no complaints, good grip, comfort, water resistance, quick to lace, not tight or loose, light weight. What more could you want?

Nice boot as pictured although darker than pictured. The fit was accurate to the size ordered and they were very comfortable out of the box. Only time will tell if they hold up and are worth the fairly high price tag. Zappos service was excellent as usual ordered one day and here the next. Think these reviews would be more accurate if given say six months after purchase for prospective new buyers. So far so good.

Bought this pair after wearing through two pairs of Georgia boots which lasted under a year each. I am very hard on my boots, in all terrain. Hoping these would last me twice as long I purchased them. They were broke in after about a week and were the most comfortable pair of boots I've ever wore, and stayed comfortable until the end. I use a boot dryer every day and condition the leather with mink oil once a month. The leather has held up fine, however after 13months of everyday wear, the sole in the left boot has split in half about 3/4 of the way to the toe from the heel, also the top of the toe stitching is coming undone, now they are practically unwearable.
