Just a quick note to all potential consumers this is the "soft footbed" model, as a couple other reviewers have stated. Delightful and fantastic. If you suffer from plantar fasciitis, as I do, however, you will likely want the classic footbed. It provides a little better support for that particular issue. Additionally, I take a 7-7.5 in a running shoe and tennis shoe, so I ordered the 38s. Wow. Way too big for my foot. Birks fit everyone differently, so that may not be the case for you. Just be sure to err on the side of caution. I'm having to exchange for a smaller size. Thanks to Zappos excellent customer service, that's not a problem! Happy shopping.

I had been wanting colorful Birks for a while and was excited to try these out. The color is beautiful and just what I was looking for. Unfortunately I had failed to notice that these are the soft footbed model. It doesn't specify that in the description (hopefully they update this detail) and I failed to see the beginning of the word "soft" in one of the product pictures. Kudos to Zappos for the incredibly easy return! Will continue to shop Zappos due to excellent customer service. I am on the lookout for these shoes with the classic hard footbed!

Definitely important to distinguish between the original footbed and the soft footbed. I went to the official Birkenstock site to see which colors are available in the original footbed. Fun ones are magenta purple and russet orange. Twilight blue is mildly fun. Depending on your threshold of fun. The Granada and the Florida are not as ugly as Arizona but if you want leather or nubuck and not Birkiflor on the original footbed, then you are getting cocoa color.

In the house most of the day, with hardwood floors, my feet get to hurting, and I have to switch shoes every two minutes. I'd been wanting to try the softbed Birkies for a while -- and I'm glad I did. They are more comfortable than my regular Birkies (also Arizona), and I can wear them most of the day. I am noticing, however, that after about a month, they don't feel as "soft." I don't know if there's a shoe in existence that could feel comfortable all day long. These offer good arch and overall support, which is most important to me. And I love this color!

These sandals are the most comfortable sandals ever! I have had more people stop and compliment me on the looks and the color.

I have worn Birkenstock sandles for over 20 years and this is the best pair yet. I like the soft bed on this style.

I haven't worn Birkenstocks since I was a kid at summer camp, so the purple Nubuck (this is the soft footbed model, as other reviewers indicated) is a nice, fashionable update for me. Otherwise I don't think Birkenstocks have changed an iota, it's still the classic German design beloved by hikers for decades. The color is gorgeous, and they are comfortable right out of the box, the suede lining and soft footbed are so comfy I never want to take them off. Think I finally found shoe-vana! Size note: I went a full 1-2 sizes lower to get the right fit. If the size is too big, the arch won't hit you in the right place. I normally wear a size 7 shoe, maybe 6.5 in a sandal, and a Euro size 37 or 38 in Dansko's. I got this in 36 and it fits perfectly. The ball of my foot is wide, and the regular width accommodates me just fine.

I am recovering from ankle surgery so pulled my old grey Birkies out of the back of my closet for comfort, only to discover they're back in style! Updated with these smoky magentas. Even more comfortable than I remembered. Wore them right out of the box, with no breakin period. As usual, Zappos delivered even faster than I expected.

These fit true to size on the Birkenstock scale. I normally wear a size 9 shoe, but the 39 fit me perfectly (as do most Birkenstocks in a 39). The soft footbed was not mentioned in the description, and it really ought to be. It would have encouraged me to pull the trigger much sooner, as I love the soft footbed, but as another reviewer mentioned, others might want the classic footbed and be disappointed instead. Regardless, I am very pleased with these sandals, and Zappos is unbeatable in customer service, as always.

These are great shoes and super comfortable but the sizing is off. I ordered a 39 and I'm exchanging them for a 38.

These run a bit large as I find is normal with Birkenstocks. I wear a 6.5 and the 36 in these is fine. I like my shoes snug and these stretch over the years. I have medium to wide flat feet. The actual color is a tiny bit lighter than shows on my screen.

The sizing that is recommended was not accurate for me. A size 6½ US was recommended to order size 37. This was too big and I had to reorder and get a 36, which was perfect. I love these sandals. I have not had a pair of these old classics for a long time. This color was what sold me! I wish that Birk would sell more styles in this color.

Loved these purple Birkenstock and wish I cold keep them, but the arch support cuts into my arch/instep too much.

I had to return my Arizona Birkenstocks because I found them too heavy for comfort. I have come to realize that sandals I was comfortable wearing when I was 60 don't suit me now that I'm in my 90's. Nothing wrong with Birkenstock, only with my aging feet. Lovely color and handsome on the feet. Just not comfy walking.
