Nice boots. The leather is of good quality. They're a bit bulky but not too much.. I have 18+ calves and my shoe size is 10.5. I got these in 10.5 wide and they are a bit too big but it doesn't bother me. I think that if I had exchanged them for a smaller size they would not be comfortable. I have not worn them outside but they seem to be comfy.. The zipper closed nicely and the fit is just right but the other side is gaping a little bit. It does not curve with the shape of my calf.. Not too bad just a bit odd.. I wish they were a bit less bulky but they are biker boots inspired.. Overall I'm happy with my purchase!

I loved these boots. I literally have never been able to find a pair of boots that fit around my calf. I don't even have wide legs I am just short so most boots don't fit right because the shafts are too small. These were fashionable and fit great. I am 5'3 and they go up to the very bottom of my knee.

Decent looking boot, sturdy construction. Fit my 19"calf easily but the top does not contour back in. So if you are as wide just under knee as calf, might work for you.

The goring in the back was too pronounced for me, and they were a little tight on my mid calf, while they gaped at the top to the point of looking silly. My calves are 17.5" or so, but not at the top of the boot where the boots are the widest.

Fit well length and width wise including zipping over my 17" calves with jeans. Only wish the ankle held it's shape, it looks bunchy in the ankle to me once it's on. I ordered two pairs of David Tate and on me they both did this. Small ankles and wide calves, it would work, but not as seamlessly as I would like.

I like these boots, mainly because I need the extra wide shaft and this was the only boot that looked like it would fit an 18" calf. The leather look is nice. However, I had to buy the wide foot because they didn't have the regular in stock and I thought it wouldn't make much difference with a pair of socks since I normally buy wide for my hiking boots. It does! I wore them with tights and thick socks over them and there was still a little slosh. I bought my regular shoe size (9) even though their sizing chart said I should buy a 10. Glad I didn't follow the chart. What I don't like is how wide the ankle is. Doesn't work for me. The boots are so loose around the ankle I felt one bad step and I'll twist and sprain, there is absolutely no support there. I don't think the wide foot size is what made the ankle wide, I'm betting that's how they are. I can also tell they'll rub my heel into a blister if I had to walk any distance in them so they're best for social outings that don't require much walking which is all I need them for. I wore them with tights, thick ankle socks and dr. scholls. Even with the gel inserts, they weren't super comfortable. Ok but not great. After wearing them for about 8 hours straight, I don't think I could stand and work in them all day every day without high end arch supports.

The only negative to these boots is the foot part is bulky/boxy. But the positives outweighed it. Perfect height, soft leather and comfortable enough to walk around Boston all night on New Year's Eve. Plenty of foot room for heavy socks.

I didn't realize that "motorcycle-inspired" means "chunky. I was looking for a low-heeled boot, but wanted something that looked dressier. This boot did fit my 19" calves just fine and it was comfortable. But I chose the Fitzwell Adam Extra Wide boot, which is a bit slimmer looking at the foot and ankle, and dressier in my opinion. The David Tate is a comfortable boot and it fit well, it just wasn't the style I was looking for.

As other reviews have pointed out, if you are thick in the calves these are your boots. Also, I was delighted to see a boot that didn't bunch around the ankles. They are a bit narrow in the foot but they are loosening up more as I wear them. Overall, very pleased with this decision. I love the subtle motorcycle inspired design that is still understated enough to wear at the office and with dresses.

These are very cute boots that I think would be comfortable if they were a little wider. I bought them in a wide so they feel better than regular width shoes, but with my extra wide feet another inch would have made them perfect. They do bunch in a weird way around the ankle, sometimes putting pressure from the zipper right on my ankle bone. But I think once I have them broken in they will be great. But they are good quality boots and that might take a while. :)

Having larger calves, I have struggled to find boots that have fit. These were great -- with even room for jeans and over the knee socks or leg warmers. They could have been a little bit more snug for my taste, but I will take them. Very comfy and lots of compliments on them. My calves are 16 3/4 inches. These boots are advertised at 17"...more like 18 to 18 1/2 -- plus the panel in the back gives it lots of stretch.

I have always struggled to find boots that were attractive and still fit my muscular calfs. These boots do both! They fit quite nicely. My only complaint is that they look a bit cheap for the price. Like they are made out of vinyl instead of leather.

Very nice boot but it was too wide in the calf and too wide in the foot area. It was also too tall for me as I am a petite (4'11") and the boot came up way too high on my leg.

Great boots but sole started falling apart less than 1 tear after purchase.

The boot buckled by my ankles. They did not lay smoothly up my leg. The quality was nice. Look of boot was nice. I did not care for the back of the boot. Because of the buckling and fit it hurt to walk in them.

These boots fit true to size and are comfortable. The shaft fit my wide calves well. I gave low stars overall because the sole on one foot is already falling off. I have not worn them often and when I do, it's in an office where I sit at a desk all day. I'm really disappointed because I love wearing them and they weren't cheap.

Shaft is super wide. Way too big for my wide calves.

The David Tate boots I've tried are a bit too stiff and military like for my tastes, but could easily work for others.

I wear New Balance 8 1/2 W. These boots were not even Wide by that measure.

I really liked them but they bagged too much around the ankle

The shaft was a good fit for my wide calf but the foot was tight and it bunches in the ankle which was painful when walking. The style is beautiful and maybe if my calf we smaller the boot wouldn’t bunch down as much. So I am returning them and trying an ankle boot.

Depending on brand I wear a size 12-13 and ordered these in a 13. They were way too big everywhere including width of footbed and ankle area. They are truly an extra wide calf and even with my large calves, felt it was too big. Returned without trying the smaller size due to calf size. They look very bulky.
