I like these shoes as my winter 'boots'. I wanted something that would be waterproof and have good traction to walk in snow/ice. I like that these do not go above my ankle and are comfortable to wear all day. I also like that they're slip-on. I have the previous version of the Merrell Eclipse in brown and wanted to get a second pair in black; however, they were not available. I do not find the Eclipse 2 to be as comfortable. They seem slightly smaller than my other pair, I have to make sure to wear thinner socks with them. (A half size up was too big.) The arch in the Eclipse 2 is higher & more pronounced, which may be good for others but it took me some time to get used to. They are still comfortable though (as long as I wear thin socks) and a good alternative to boots.

The Merrell Encore Eclipse 2 is a really cute shoe that will go with jeans or business casual. It's a smaller shoe overall than the Jungle Moc (meaning it doesn't look as clunky on your foot). I got the Coffee Bean color, which looked like a medium reddish brown on my monitor but is really more of a chocolate brown. Originally I ordered a size 9; I had to return it because it was too big (I normally wear an 8.5 or 9). I then got it in an 8.5. It's fairly snug (too bad there's no size 8.75!). The leather is fairly soft, though, and I believe it will stretch to exactly the right fit after a few wearings. Another reviewer mentioned scuff marks showing up easily and I do find this to be true. If you buy this shoe, also buy some shoe polish.

I wore these shoes for a couple of years while working a retail job on my feet. I paired them with black pants, which I know looked kind of silly since they are more casual shoes, but because I have chronic pain I needed shoes with support and comfort. These provided both. Nice arch support, great cushion, no break-in period. I found myself throwing them on to walk the dog instead of putting on my New Balance running shoes. Now that is a testament to their comfort! I just wish they were a little more dressy because I need new shoes for work again. These got a little worn after three years or so.

The Encore Eclipse 2 was true to size until I stood up to walk in them. Because of the loose heel my foot slid into the end of the shoe and jammed my toes. I couldn't get my foot to fit into the heel when I walked. Too bad I liked the softness of the leather. Trying another style.

Love these shoes but very difficult to get on. Even after a year, I have trouble getting them on. Not a slip on shoe.

The arch on this shoe is quite far back, almost jutting into my heel. I've had consistent problems with Merrells and strange arch placement (I have the same problem with Munros). It seems well-made otherwise. Returned immediately.

I like the way the shoe looks, but my heel slips in and out--and I can't order a smaller size because then they'd be too tight. (I have a narrow heel.)

This particular shoe runs narrow in the toe area. It also has too much arch support if that is possible which made it feel as if there was a bump there and my foot could not get comfortable. I love the style, but it has to be comfortable so it has to go back.

Darn, this shoe would have been perfect if it wasn't a full size too big! I loved the style, how my foot felt with the arch support, but it was way too big. Had to send them back.

I loved the look of the shoe on. Very nice looking. I had to ask for a larger shoe to try it on better. So hard to get in and out of. The larger size felt better but the ball of my foot did not have enough sole support in them.

I ordered several "walking shoes" for a trip I am taking. I thought these were the nicest looking. They felt comfortable, but my foot kept slipping out of the heel. I returned them unfortunately.

I have been a Merrell fan for years, but their fit has changed recently. I had the Primo Patch, which looks identical to these, but these didn't fit well at all. The heel was very loose, so I returned them and ordered another pair. The second pair was a little better, but I knew they would be loose in no time, so they went back, too. Fortunately, their Encore Moc Pro is still great. Merrell, please give us more casual styles in your original fit and quality.

I bought these with an immediate need for a comfortable walking shoe for a trip to Ireland. I am a huge Merrell fan, owning at least 5 pairs of hiking boots, shoes, and winter clogs, and based on many positive reviews, decided to give these a try. To me, they looked and felt like a ruggedized garden shoe. The texture felt almost rubbery. There is a bit of elastic to allow for a slip-on fit. The sole is very sturdy and as others attest, would probably hold up well to all-day wearing. I did not find the insole as comfortable as other Merrell styles I have tried. Plus I felt a hard lump on the inside edge of each heel. I'm afraid they just didn't work for me, and I will be sending them back. My thanks to Zappos for free shipping each way to allow for us to give shoes a try.

Too bad the arch support was under my heel. I have never experienced this before. These are lovely shoes otherwise and I am so bummed that they were built so wrong. I have very high arches, wide feet, size 11. These were also crazy wide for (M) width. I also ordered the Merrell Dassie Moc at the same time. It is hard to believe that they were meant for the same size feet.

Having worn Merrells for years and never having had a comfort problem, I ordered the Encore Eclipse 2 thinking they would be perfect, as usual, for walking comfort. To my dismay, I found the fit to be totally different than all my other Merrells. The arch is placed so far back that it rests over the front edge of heel which makes them painful to wear. I wear the Encore Nova almost every day and they are so comfortable I forget I am wearing shoes. Comparing the two soles, there is definitely a noticeable difference. I have always subscribed to if it ain't broke, don't fix it. These will be returned with sadness to Zappos (my very favorite shoe place) whom I thank from the bottom of my heart for their quick delivery and return policy.

These are really nice looking shoes, and they arrived very soon after i ordered them. Unfortunately they are difficult/ impossible to actually get on your feet. Yes, I have big/ wide feet. I ordered my usual Merrell size, the one shoe I could get on felt comfortable. I could not get my other foot in the shoe due to the really narrow opening.

I've had several pairs of this Merrell style and have always been very happy with them. My current pair is really wearing out (after several years) and I wanted to replace it. I'm disappointed with this shoe. It seems to run short and the arch support has changed. Sad to say, it's going back.

I've loved Merrell shoes, but this shoe has been a problem for me. The size I usually order was too big and the smaller ones I ordered to replace them were different lengths. One was perfectly comfortable and the other was too short. I loved the look of the style. I'll still order more, but regretfully, not this style.

I wanted a comfortable pair of shoes to wear with pants for work. The soles of these shoes squeak so much on a bare floor I would be embarrassed walking in anywhere.

I had a pair of these for about 10 years and loved them, other than the fact that they scuffed very easily. They were great casual shoes that I could wear on long walks. I finally decided to order a new pair and was so sad to see that they have drastically changed this shoe. I ordered the same size I had before and I could barely get my foot into it. I could tell by the stitching and the materials that they make the shoe differently now. It less depth and less width; it is a completely different shoe! Such a huge disappointment! Needless to say, I sent them back (thanks, Zappos!).

I am a fan of Merrell shoes and have had a pair of these exact shoes for more than 10 years. They are showing wear and I wanted to get a new pair so I ordered these in the summer of 2015 from Zappos. Merrell has completely changed the fit of this shoe! I ordered the same size I already have at home and I could barely get my foot into the new shoe. The problem for me was the width and depth of the toe box. I was so disappointed. I would have loved to have a new pair of these shoes. I hope this doesn't become a trend with Merell.

I thought these shoes were terrible. I wore Klogs previously and thought they were good shoes, but they scratched easily so I was looking to try other shoes. These shoes have no foot support and feel stiff and cheap. I am going back to the Klogs. At least they were comfortable.

I am a long-time Merrell wearer, and I think these shoes are terribly uncomfortable. I have only worn them 3-4 times and experience terrible foot pain after wearing them, so bad to the point that my foot continues to hurt for 2-3 days after. I have noticed in my last couple pairs that Merrells are not fitting the way they used to. If this is the trend, I will be buying something else from now on. I don't think I can return these after wearing and I am very sad to be out this much for something that I absolutely cannot wear.
