I was very surprised at how narrow these were especially around the arch and ankle. I am a huge Merrell Moab fan and they have always been a perfect fit. If almost all of these reviews say the boot is great but too small and too narrow, guess what? That means they are all marked with the wrong size. Why not mark them with the correct size? I put them on with the same sock I wear with my Moab Goretex shoes and they were immediately too narrow and uncomfortable. Not even close. If it is obvious that everyone says they are too small and too tight, it should be easy to resolve without warning people to get a bigger size. Mark them correctly.

These are the first pair of Merrell's I have owned. I have been trying for about a month now to break them in, it just is not happening. The boots themselves are rugged and withstand snow and rain fine as they should. They give minimal grip on anything slick, you better throw on a pair of gators if you are traveling over any ice...because you will slip and fall, as I did. But the biggest downside is they are uncomfortable as sin. I don't know what it is- maybe the quick tie eyelits or maybe just the way the ankle support portion of the boot is structured. These things hurt my ankles horribly. I am not being a whimp about it either. I am a Marine, I wear boots for a living, these things...horrible in the ankles. I wish i could say they are awesome for the price I paid for them...too bad.

Adequately warm and waterproof for snow clearing. Tread traction is OK on snow; not so great on ice. The fabric lacing loops are definitely not speed lacing and make it a wrestling match to get these boots on or to take off when dry; worse when the laces are full of snow or wet. Very disappointed in this Merrill boot. I would definitely not buy these boots again.

Disappointing for a Merrill product. I didn't have much opportunity to wear them until this winter and found that they have don't give very good traction on dry packed or icy snow and aren't particularly warm in temps in the 20s while active clearing snow. When putting them on, the tongue seems skimpy and needs attention to tuck in.

Had for one year, then started leaking. Walking through slushy snowy trails really sucks when your sock is all wet.

It feels a bit stiff around the ankles, don't plan to use them that often so I can live with the discomfort, but I would not recommend this product at all. There are better choices out there, I got this one because the ones I wanted were out, but in retrospective I should have waited. They are very nice looking though, but as I said, not very comfortable.

Too long, too narrow, and not warm. I bought these from REI and have had them long enough to wear them in modest 2" snow in Denver. Not hiking, just working around the house. My toes were cold within 15 minutes. They also didn't breathe well under the foot due to the narrowness. The fit and insulationare the worst I've found in any of my winter boots. My previous boots were Columbia Bugaboottoos and they lasted 5 years and are still in decent shape. These don't measure up and I am going to return them to REI.

There was something in the sole that was raised up, making the boot unwearable.

I am a giant Merrell fan but these were a huge disappointment. Not quite waterproof, and they tended to hold onto the the water that got in, which quickly led to them reeking. Something also wrong with the fit; wearing them for any extended period of time has caused sciatica, knee strain, even sore hips. I'll be retiring them permanently now that the winter is finally drawing to a close.
