I was a little frustrated with the description of the Hoka shoes. It is a little difficult to figure out if it is a trail or road shoe, neutral or stability. Maybe it doesn't matter? This is my second Hoka. I had the Bondi first and at 900 miles started to get terrible shin splints. I replaced it with this shoe and alternated a Saucony in my rotation and the shin splint has resolved. Overall I think this shoe will work out as a training shoe while I rebuild my miles.

I spend all day on my feet, and the Hoka's really are great-- be sure to order 1/2 size larger though. Not sure if the negative heel is causing new lower back pain...

I bought these after running in the Stinson trail version for about two weeks since I run mostly on pavement in the winter. They have the same soft ride with good support. I am 5'7" and 155 pounds and just ran my first ultra 50k race and have been trying to up my weekly mileage from 35-45 miles a week to 50 but my legs always felt flat and fatigued at any distance unless I took every other day off. Since that race and buying the Hokas in two months time I have been able to carefully up my weekly mileage up to 60-80 taking one or two days off. I should mention that I work 50 hours a week on concrete floors with lots of walking and physical work. I usually come home feeling like I need to get off my feet but with the Hokas I do not dread going out running anymore like I used to. I love to run but the pounding was getting to me. That is not the case now. I can go out and run 20 miles and my legs do not feel pounded to a pulp and recovery time is much improved as Hoka claims. I guess the best way to describe the Hokas is comparing running on asphalt with your typical running sneakers to running on wooded trails with them. And at least for me the extra cushioning does not seem to slow my forward propulsion much if at all and has kept me injury free (I am a mid foot striker). I feel that I should get at least 600 miles out of each pair of Hokas. The trail version rock on the trails and love them but I find you have to be a little more vigilant on ruts, roots since midsole stack height being taller. I plan on trying other Hokas; Bondi speed. For race days. Of course Zappos' service is easy, fast, and dependable.

Got these for my husband after having a pair of my own for a couple of months. They are so comfortable it's ridiculous. I'm a former recreational runner with lots of foot problems due to high arches and very tight calves. He's a tennis player carrying extra weight and his feet get really sore. These make it possible to work out much longer without foot and knee pain and allow me to run for more than a few hundred yards for the first time in many years. They get 3 stars for style because of the loud graphics. I understand this is part of the brand identity, but sometimes I'd prefer them not to scream "Hokas!" Maybe a quiet(er) upper with a statement color along the bottom half of the sole.

I've been running since December '13 thirty to thirty five miles per week. I had been experiencing shin splints and knee and foot pain. Running in brooks Adrenaline 14s and Nike Free Run shoes. After meeting an avid runner and her telling me about a place that records your running measure gait and pressure points of feet. Then being introduced to HOKAONEONE. Out of the box I ran 7.4 miles with not even thinking about my feet shins knee. 35 mile an hour headwinds, 35 degree temp. The only thing I could think during 7.4m was how incredibly awesome these shoes really are. It's ridiculous actually. Why aren't all the other running shoe companies following this. If you want to enjoy your outdoor adventures more and not think about your feet, I in the highest possible fashion recommend these or any HOKAONEONE brand shoes to you! I'll never buy any other shoe the rest of my life.

FANTASTIC road shoe. Amateur runner, done a marathon, several halfs, currently on a 365 day running challenge and wanted something to comfort my ankles and knees. Had read about these in Outside, and decided to order a pair. These ROCK! Quality: these are rock solid from top to bottom Fit: I normally wear a 10.5 for my running shoes, but the 10.5 in the Hoka was a little too snug, so wound up getting an 11 (thanks Zappos for the lightning fast exchange!!!) The toe is a little smaller than I wanted, but by no means does it detract from the overall fit. Running in these is absolute heaven. Your foot feels firmly cupped, the shoes are not tippy or overly-cushiony feeling in anyway whatsoever. My longest run so far was 10-miles, and these really do help with recovery! I had none of the normal shin and knee pain the next day. Definitely give these amazing shoes a try, you will never go back to a "traditional" running shoe. My former shoe was an Asics Gel Nimbus 14, and was very impressed with the comfort (until I tried the Hokas!) Thanks Hoka for changing the game, these are my new favorite running shoe.

I bought these shoes because I enjoy running mid-distance runs (10K-Half Mara.) and I always have knee pain afterwards. Through my first three runs, one of the a major up-and-down hill run, I'd have to say that these shoes are pretty fantastic. However, because I felt these shoes didn't provide sufficient arch support, I tore out the insole and added a high arch insole (superfeet) which seems to work better than the Sole brand insert. It did add a little more weight, but there's still a huge difference in the lack of post-running pain. I'll be running in these shoes for a handful of 10 milers and half-marathons this year for sure. The price point is a little high, but it's well worth it in the end, in my opinion.

I'm not someone who typically purchases shoes online, especially not ones north of a lot. I took the plunge after reading some many glowing reviews of these Hokas. they felt narrow to me, as I have a wide foot however after wearing them a couple of times, they feel great. I ran a 10 mile training run last weekend and took 6 minutes off my time, partly I think because of these bad boys. Recommended!

I bought these shoes as I'm getting older and more brittle! I have a bad knee that I'm going to have to get replaced, and I wanted something with plenty of cushion. I've worn Brooks Beast in the past and also Salomon shoes, but even new the cushioning wasn't what I wanted. I had read about the Hoka One One in magazines and decided to try a pair. Absolutely awesome shoes! The cushioning is second to none, and with all of the cushioning the stability is great. My knees don't hurt nearly as bad as they did with other shoes. My wife, who is a nurse and needs cushioning on the hospital floors, had me order her a pair and now they are working better than we had hoped for. Outstanding. We did have to each buy a size 1/2 larger than we usually wear, and they fit great. Highly recommended!

This is a great, innovative shoe! If you walk or run on concrete, you should try these. It feels like your feet never touch the pavement! Very original lacing system and extremely comfortable.

Since you will only read positive things about Hoka, believe everything you read. I can't add much else than that which has already been written. Buy these. Use these. You won't want to take them off. But before you take these shoes for granted, switch back to your old shoes. You won't believe your feet! Love them!

Excellent, wonderful, perfect. I had a previous foot injury (broke both heels). I had never run before. I have Mephisto shoes for every day. I started running with Nike but they wear out too quick. I really like the Asics. Mizuno were my favorite until I got the Hoka. The Hoka absorb all the shock so there is no fatigue during or after a run.

I suffered from chronic shin splints. Tried 3 different pairs of shoes, had gait looked at, rolling/compression, and custom inserts made. The Hoka's were a miracle! I can now run pain free, longer and more frequently.

I have spent untold amounts of money over the years trying to find shoes that I can wear all day. I am a woodworker and on my feet all day. Eureka! These are the best shoes ever! I have wide feet, ordered these half a size bigger and wear thinner socks. Wow, I never had shoes so comfortable!

Heard the benefits of the Hoka One One shoes and had to try it myself. Have been impressed with how they feel and how my legs/knees feel after a run. Very noticeable difference from my previous pair of shoes. The main negative comment about the Hoka shoes is their appearance. I felt this pair, while not any smaller, didn't look as clunky.

I ordered a pair of shoes for my size and after a short period of time, I found the shoes were not fitting properly. I called customer service to check the return policy. The representative was very helpful and sent shoes that were a half size bigger with a free return of the older shoes. The shoes arrived the next day. The service was great and the quality of the shoes is worth the price. I definitely recommend Zappos and their shoes.

I bought some of these a couple of years ago and did not like them. More recently I tried again and loved them. My advice is to give them some time. After awhile you will be delighted.

I'm a male, 64 yr. old with flat arches. I'm a 50 lbs. over weight runner/walker who stopped these activities due to three lumbar surgeries. Every time I tried to work out I would injure my back, feet, knees, etc. Since purchasing the Hoka One One Stinson Tarmac, I can walk and do moderate running without any injury. They have incredible support and the cushioning is the best bar none, and they have a nice re-bound to each step. Get a 1/2 size bigger; if you like thick socks get a full size bigger. For your bodies sake try these, they are the best! You will be able to run with less soreness/injury and run longer distances. I have hope now that I can return to exercising and lose weight and become fit again.

I ran my first full marathon in November and had IT pain from mile three. After the race I was turned onto these shoes as a cure for knee problems and ended up purchasing a pair. My knee problems are getting better and I am back to running the speed I was running before the marathon training. These shoes are light weight and feel like your running on air. I would recommend these to anyone wanting to improve their running experience.

These shoes have absolutely saved my knees. The cushioning is unparallelled, and they accept orthotics perfectly. (I pronate due to flat feet) For someone who needs the ultimate in cushioning for jogging, Hoka One One's are fantastic. (They look crazy, but who cares?)

Outstanding shoe...I do not wear these to run in, but for everyday use. The comfort is amazing, and the cushioning has helped solve or eliminate the fatigue and lower back pain associated with long stretches on your feet or walking.

Very wide base allows my foot to easily find it's most comfortable position. Extremely comfortable and cushioned shoe. Does in fact reduce impact as well as during run and post run pain/stiffness. Works exactly as advertised. Will purchase them again.

Love. Yes seriously...love, these shoes. Have chronic Achilles tendinitis, these and some eccentric Achilles strengthening PT and I am up to running 5 miles first time in a year. Planning IM Boulder next fall. Hoka One One's really are as wonderful as everyone says.

I have not had a chance to run in my shoes yet, due to a recent accident. But i have been waling in my shoes and have noticed that the support in the soles is in all the right places and feels great on my feet.
