Great back pack. Spacious and functional,

Looks great and overall quality is very good. However it's not very convenient when you need to get something out of it quickly, it has a small pocket for that but I never use it as it is really small.

The backpack feels sturdy. Love the strap for comfort. My son likes how roomy it is. The drawstring is time consuming where I just suggest not drawing it all the way. Wish the small pocket in front can actually hold pencils, because after putting all his books and folders you can't squeeze pencils in the front. Overall, we are please with it and would recommend this backpack.

Love this backpack! I received this as a Christmas present from my family and use it for hauling my things to the gym and for taking a laptop to and from work. This bag works for both, it looks professional any stylish! The laptop sleeve is well padded and the main compartment has plenty of room. There is not a lot of compartments for zipping away small items but there are a couple of pockets for pens and such. The snaps are easy to open and close quickly and seem durable. Very happy with this purchase!

Great design, quality and durability. Almost purchased the Little America but went with Retreat, as it is really the standard everyday size for carrying books, files, 13" laptop etc. There is a laptop component as described, it is a very nice fleece material pocket.

Beautiful stylish bag, well made, with beautiful contrasting lining. Useful padded laptop compartment. Perfect for school, as long as you don't carry too many books back and forth!

I bought this about a year ago for my boyfriend and it has held up great! I initially bought the Little America but found it to be a bit bulky just for everyday use, this was the perfect size. It's constructed well because I have not seen even one snag or thread out of place. Perfect for a 13" laptop and the lining of that compartment is nice and soft. I love the white and red stripes on the inside as well. It'll hold enough clothes for a weekend get away and I'm sure it works perfectly as a carry-on as well!

Oh dear! I bought this backpack on Zappos two years ago and was so happy with my purchase I totally forgot to write a review. This has been a great bag to me for two years and it still has no signs of wear and tear. The straps are strong, which is essential for student life. I put a ton of stuff in here everyday - MacBook Pro, gym shoes, books, notebooks, lunches... and it all fits! I also really love the style, which is a step up from basic backpacks. I am a grad student so I want to look a little fancier than the students that I am teaching and this fits the bill. The leather straps are really cool and I love the rust color.

I love this bag! It's a little bit smaller than the Great America bag from Herschel, which is perfect because I'm a petite lady. The straps are great on my shoulders carrying heavy books. My only complaint is there are no pockets inside, but I knew that from reading reviews of this product. If you're going to buy this bag I recommend also buying a few zippered pouches to keep small things like keys, your wallet and headphones in so you're not searching for an hour every time you reach into your bag. A solid purchase overall.

This is a great backpack. It is sturdy but not too heavy and large enough to easily fit a laptop computer. It is also stylish and I love the red striped lining.

This pack holds everything even my big Mamiya 6x4 camera + I love the look + and even the inside of the bag is nice + there is a separate compartment for your laptop too.

Love this bag! It looks awesome. Best of all it's comfortable to wear and even looks great when it is full books and a lunch.

I really love this backpack! I carry a lot of books and a laptop, and it doesn't make my shoulders hurt at all (and I have a petite frame). The Little America was too large for me (I'm 5'5") but this is perfect. I just wish the front pocket could be sealed in some way for more security, and that it had a place for water bottles on the side, but overall, still an amazing product! Great investment!

The straps are well padded providing comfort and support. I have used this for school and I'm extremely pleased with the quality of this brand. I highly recommend this product.

This backpack is perfect for college. It can carry a lot of needed items and because of the way the straps are designed the weight is distributed evenly and does not feel too heavy. Overall I am very happy with my purchase.

This is a very nice bag. The steaks are plastic though and if you have a large screen lap top like myself you may have trouble with fit. Thus was the reason fir my return.

Comfortable and light even with a laptop and daily necessities in it but this backpack would have been better or even the best if the exterior pocket can be closed and have 1 or 2 small pockets in it just like Herschel totes for your small items

My son loves this backpack, you can put your laptop and it just well-made and well-designed. Highly recommend this product to any one that travels as well as any students that carry's a laptop.

This backpack is roomy and fits well but has very few inner pockets for things. It’s stylish.

I really love the look of this backpack, although I have to knock a star off due to poor functionality in two areas. I preferred the black, but ended up getting the wine color because it was on sale and I had a coupon, so it only ended up costing me $35--really can't beat that, especially with fast shipping and free returns from Zappos. Pros: The style is great--a perfect go-between for profession and personal use, which is exactly what I needed. The straps are surprisingly comfortable and make the bag feel almost weightless even when carrying both my personal and company MacBook Pros and their charging cords. Other than the style, this is without a doubt its best feature and the thing that ultimately sold me on it. I have had other bags that feel like they're digging into your shoulder with just one laptop, let alone two. The inside is spacious without being unnecessarily bulky or making the bag overlarge (I'm about 5' 2" and the bag doesn't feel too big for me). The laptop compartment is really plush and has a nice, soft protective coating in case you don't have a case. I don't worry about putting the bag down too hard or the laptops getting bumped around--they're that well-protected. Cons: Though the straps add to the style, and the snap closures are magnetized, they are kind of a pain to line up and close properly, and they can come undone easier than I would like. A stronger magnet might have fixed that issue. There is only one other large compartment besides the laptop area, and a pocket on the side for your phone that can feed headphones through. I don't think these parts are well designed. The big pocket is fine, but it would benefit from a smaller zip pocket to put pens or odds and ends that would be great to reach quickly. The phone pocket is pretty useless in my opinion--too big to reach pens easily, an annoying velcro closure, and I can't see keeping my phone that far out of reach for very long. A little slip for a water bottle would have been nice also. They had the room to do this, so I'm not sure why they didn't. I'm also not a huge fan of the drawstring closure of the top--the string is way too long for the bag and hangs down past the flap unless you tuck the string inside the bag. I feel like there would have been a better way to close the interior. The front pocket is pretty useless. It is too small even to stick pens for easy reach (unless you want them sticking out and ruining the look of the bag. You could maybe slide your phone there, I didn't try, but I imagine it would stick out and not really be secure. I really haven't found a good use for it. Which would be fine, if the interior had some better pockets. Overall, I would recommend this product, but I wish Hershel would have made a few changes to make this bag a bit easier to use. I'm also not a fan of the pink and white striped liner that sticks out of the top sometimes. I wish it matched the color of the outside so it was less noticeable. I feel like it cheapens the look of the bag.

Love this backpack. I can already tell it's going to be a keeper. It's a great carry on and fits my macbook, charger, necessary things. It's easy to ride a bike while wearing, comfortable, etc. I wish it had more pockets. Only feedback!

I have had this backpack for a few weeks now and I LOVE it. It is stylish but also functional. It holds more than I had anticipated and it feels well made. I wish it had one more outside pocket (with some kind of snap) but I am willing to deal with that annoying detail because I like the sleek look of this bag so much.
