I took the words from another customer because I couldn't say it better myself. These are by far the most comfortable shoes I've ever had. However within 5 months they had holes in the fabric above the toe area. Zappos - which has always had the best customer service ever - promptly replaced them within 24 hours. Unfortunately the same thing is happening again with the new pair. Comfort, style, and fit are excellent (as is Zappos), but sadly no durability for this model.

I love Asics. However, this shoe completely tore apart along the fabric diamond seams within months of wearing them. I plan on calling the company today to see what they can do. Very disappointed in the overall fabric of the shoe but love the comfort. I expect more from this company and to say I am disappointed is an understatement.

Let me start by saying I am a huge fan of Asics shoes and have several pairs. I had the Gel Kinsei 4 and after 18+ months they finally gave in where the rubber sole began to separate. They were by far the best Asics I owned. So, I replaced them with the Kinsei 5. I did read the reviews on Zappos about these and had my concerns as it seemed most of the reviews were not good and everybody had the same problem with the toe box and that the fabric tore as a result of running or extreme activity. Since I do not run or do cross training and would only be using these in the gym along with other pairs, I thought I would have no problems with the toe box area...and I didn't. However, the side of both shoes where the fabric meets the rubber has already split in the exact same spot on both shoes after less than 1 month and light wear. These shoes are extremely comfortable, sticking with the Asics comfort but they are absolute crap compared to what I am accustomed to from the Asics brand and quality. I strongly urge Zappos management to look at these reviews on this model shoe and take them off your website so your customers don't have to go through the hassle of returning them. I plan to write Asics an email explaining the same thing and until they bring their quality back to par with what it has always been, I will no longer be a buyer of any of their products.

I am on my second pair and I am having the same issue as I did before with the first pair. The material over the toe box wears thin and splits in the same spot over my big toe. This is during day to day use in a retail environment. I really hope they come out with a new pair soon because I do like this line, however the longevity of this shoe is appalling. In reference The first pair was ordered in April. Those started splitting in early June. I ordered a replacement in July, these were worn pretty infrequently and having the same result and it is now November. Zappos has been great through this whole ordeal and I hope they will honor the warranty this time too. I hope Asics learns from this blunder.

Poor materials. Mesh tore long before shoes were finished. Have had two pair and same results. Very disappointing for Asics and Zappos.

The material on the toe ripped after 3 months of very light use. Based on other reviews, this looks like a design problem. Asics are easily the most comfortable shoe for me. But these are badly made and don't look like they will make it six months.

Terrible, terrible, terrible. They started tearing apart in a month! If this wear my first pair of Asics I would never buy another. But I've bought a bunch and loved them all. This is the first pair of Asics I think are bad. They should cost about a tenth of this price.

Very comfortable running shoe, very lightweight. Unfortunately, like the other negative reviews on here for this, the big toe area developed a large tear/hole within 2 months of light use. Very disappointing. For a shoe this price as a consumer I expect more.

Worst shoe I've purchased in 20 years. After less than 1 month of use, the material (nylon mesh) started to stretch at the big toe and little toe area, causing the material to tear and unravel. This shoe is poorly constructed and should be pulled from the shelves. There are 4+ other reviews here that suggest the same problem. The shoe also is very flimsy, offering little to no support or stability. Don't waste your money on this shoe! I wish I could get my money back, as this shoe is clearly not a quality shoe based on the customer feedback.

One of the worst shoes I've purchased in 20 years. Within a month of light use, the material on the top of the shoe (nylon mesh) started to break apart. Breaking points on the nylon mesh at the big toe and the little toe area. Second problem with the shoe is that it is very soft and offers little stability or support. It makes for an unbalanced shoe when running, walking, or any type of cross-fit class. The shoe is flimsy and wobbly. This shoe is one of the most expensive running shoes that I've purchased, and it almost immediately started to break apart. I wish there was a way to return these shoes. Not worth the money.
