Wonderful boots! I purchased and returned several similar boots that were much more expensive than these but kept these because they were perfect. Keep in mind - they are tight when you first wear them. Do not return them, wear them until they mold to your foot. Very comfortable.

I was really excited and willing to spend big bucks on these boots! But two things are contributing to my mediocre rating. First, the distressed black is just way distressed and not in a good way. More grunge. Second, while the 7 fits snug to my foot with a very thin sock, there's still lots of room beyond the toe. So, the sizing seems odd. I would want a bigger size, but then it will be too long for me. So, for this money, I am not sold and will likely return the boots and try another Frye style.

I constantly get compliments on these boots. Really comfortable too.

My new favorite pair and I have a feeling we'll be very happy together for a long time. Soft and pliable leather that mold to your foot and require very little time to break in. I ordered my true size (8.5) and they fit perfectly. Love the square toe and the zipper makes it easy to get in and out. They come distressed however don't let it scare you off if you don't like the look. It actually kept me away until I read about applying mink oil (thank you). It works like a charm, they'll darken right up. If you're unfamiliar with Frye, they're addictive. Once you buy a pair, you'll want other styles and will quickly learn which styles are your true size and which styles need to be purchased a half size down. That's why I always read the Zappos customer reviews for guidance. Y'all have yet to steer me wrong!

I love these boots! I wanted something moto inspired but I did not like the rounded toe that most moto boots have. These fit the bill perfectly. They are very comfortable and broke in quickly. I have received many compliments on them. I would order them again, but know that I will not have to due to Frye's quality. I have several pairs of Frye shoes/boots and they are the best!

Originally went 1/2 size down from shoe size, but was just too narrow, I couldn't imagine it stretching enough to be comfortable. Returned for normal shoe size. Awesome boot, love the distressed finish.

This is the first time I buy a pair of Frye boots. As I am not living in US, I really rely on the reviews for getting the correct size so that I do not need to exchange for size. Glad that I read all the reviews. My review for size is: I am a true size 5.5, however all of my shoes are size 6 for reserving more toe space. But I followed the reviewers' opinion, I ordered half size down (go back to true size). I got 5.5 and they are perfect. I think "a little bit snug" is a very normal phenomenon for first time wearing, as the craftsmanship is good so the shape of the boot is good (that's why you will feel snug). After several times wearing, the leather will fit your feet perfectly.

I own around 9 different styles of Frye boots and mules, and was unsure of sizing for these based on prior comments. Glad for the reviewer that said that these loosen up, as I went with my usual Frye 1/2 size down (9 1/2 is my normal shoe size; most of my Frye boots are size 9). The 9 1/2 was roomy but comfortable so I returned them for the 9, which were initially snug but now perfect with thin socks. Boots are very cool, edgy and beaten up look. I did apply mink oil to make them look a little less distressed for work.

Beautiful boot, they do stretch out a lot. They run big. I purchased the size 6, should have bought the 5 1/2. I already wore them. Go down a size. Great looking.

These are great boots. Really stylish and made of beautiful leather. They are a wee bit snug across your foot at first, but the leather relaxes after a short while and they have become my favorite boots quickly.

I love these boots! They are well made. The height is just right for either wearing skinny jeans tucked in or wearing pants over. I have a wide foot. They were very snug at first but the leather stretched out as I wore them to a perfect fit.I wore them without socks first to stretch them a bit. They are very weathered when you get them so be aware. I would definitely buy again.

What beautifully awesome boots! The leather is so high quality and soft. They were so tight when they arrived I could hardly even get them on But after wearing them around the house for short periods of time a few times, they are great and feel like they were made just for me.

I bought these boots because I wanted something that would look good under pants and had a zipper. These are great boots but pricey. It's taken me about 6 weeks to break them in, however, so be prepared to devote some time to them.

These boots are amazing! I first saw them in a store in Merced, CA but they did not have my size. The owner told me to go to Zappos and now they are mine. Fantastic "worn" look and wearable from the minute they arrived.

Love! I originally purchased the Smith Harness Short however, I could not get my foot into them - the heel was extremely stiff. I returned them for these Frye Smith Engineer Short because they have a zipper. Perfecto! I ordered up a half size & glad I did. They fit width-wise and are not too big otherwise. The quality speaks for itself. They are very distressed but that's what I love about them. I may (or may not) try the mink oil as other reviewers suggests. They are not uncomfortable while I am breaking them in. These will not be my last pair of Frye's.

These are a little snugger fitting on the foot then my Melissa Button Boots but they are stretching each time I wear them and I think it's just a matter of time. Not sure if they'll ever get to the molded to my feet comfort level of my Melissas but they are fabulous looking boots.

First let me say that I LOVE the way these boots look. They come seriously distressed as if someone wore them on a farm for a month. That is exactly what I wanted. I don't have any other Frye boots so I don't know if they run small in general. I am a true size 11 and the 11 in this boot is small on me. When I got them I made the decision to break them in instead of returning them. I've worn them a few times and it's going okay. I think it will be a while before they are truly comfortable for hours at a time.

The distressing is ridiculous, and is much more than the picture. Unfortunate, because they are otherwise fairly attractive. Agree they are a narrow boot, but would likely soften up with time.

Adorable boots. Ordered a size 7 and length is fine, but they are extremely narrow throughout heel to toe. Also very distressed-I used mink oil to protect them and clean them up. I wanted distressed but not out of the trash heap destroyed looking, it worked. Can only wear them for a couple of hours at a time as fit is way too tight. I do not believe they will loosen up anymore as they are very soft already. Love the look, not the price for the fit. Painfully keeping them.

Beautiful looking boot, very well made. However, it is quite narrow in the toe box area. It seems to run true to size for length (I am a size 9) and unfortunately I will have to return them.
